Back when I was in the army, I had a female lieutenant as my platoon leader. I didn't think much of it, since she's my superior officer and I listened to what she told me to do, and she was competent at her job, so really her being a woman was no big deal to me. I treated her as any other officer in our company, and she treated the soldiers like any other officer would.

Just now, I saw some Facebook photos of her in street clothes, and only now have I realized that she's actually really hot.

Ain't it awesome how often that happens.

One of the reasons I love women in uniform.

My mentor in the RCMP was/still is a stone cold fox. Her nickname was Too Hot.

One time she got some nasty cuts on her face from a rampaging drunk scratched her really badly. I mean, it sucked, but it was hilarious when she came into the office the next day and pouted at us and just said, "I'm not Too Hot anymore."

Sunday I noticed a huge spike in ad revenue on my youtube channel. These days, an average day is between 50 cents and a buck fifty. But Dec 1, according to the analytics somehow, pulled in almost 10 bucks. I was like, "cool." Then the next day that number went to zero, with from Dec 2 on returning to fluctuate between 0.50 and 1.50. There's a bulletin now at the top that says data from 12/1 is "delayed" and will be "available soon." Something smells fishy. I wonder if it will be "revised" down after the delay for whatever it is they're doing.
And here it is the 12th and the revenue for the 1st is still absent. Hrmmmm...

I linked one of my videos on Imgur. The comment with the link got five upvotes. But the number of views on the video did not increase. wut

I remember one of the YouTubers my daughter watches saying something about Youtube being broken in some way about a week and a half ago.
Yeah, it's aggravating that youtube (everything Google, really) is so "black box" opaque. Really, there's no way to tell if they're not just pulling numbers out of their ass for everything. Kinda like radio advertising/ratings. :awesome:

The change they did to YouTube is that Views are no longer the most important metric, but how long people watch your channel. So now big channels like PewdiePie, Markiplier, and such are kind of getting shafted because they aren't putting out videos EVERY DAY... while the big networks (as in Network TV) have big teams capable of putting out videos every day (every few hours really) and it's fucking with the search metrics.

Basically, Youtube wants to be Netflix and it's skewing it's metrics to work under that kind of identity... and a lot of people are losing out because of the shift in focus.

I have found a fun new subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/feghoot/

A feghoot is a long story that ends in a groan-inducing pun, eg better nate than lever. Here's an example:

There's a little known country in central Europe that is ruled by a monarchy.

Not many people are aware of its existence but I assure that it is there all the same. The king of this little land faces a lot of difficulty. He wants to make his kingdom into a sovereign nation but unfortunately they do not have the infrastructure, population, or economy to do so. In fact, this small state is only known for a single export. Thanks to their proximity to some of the finest gold and other metals in the world but total lack of an ability to process those metals on a mass scale, they have been left with only one option. You know the saying; when life hands you lemons, make lemonade. Make lemonade they did. This tiny territory is renowned for creating the highest quality watches in the world. No expense is spared and their elite group of craftsmen train for their entire lives from childhood to produce these terrific timepieces. Men of great wealth and taste have been known to trade entire fortunes for just a single one of these watches; that is how valuable they are.

The king knows this and he knows that only a small portion of his populace can ever hope to become one of the respected elite, let alone hold one of their masterpieces in their own hands. Being a very just and fair man, the king ordered the most senior watchmaker in the land to create something the likes of which had never been seen. A watch of such great craftsmanship so as to be above monetary value. The man labored long and hard for many nights to produce the king's watch. When he at last presented the completed work to his lord - in front of the entire nation, no less - he was met with thunderous applause and a warm embrace. He had done it! The king then made a shocking announcement.

"This masterpiece belongs to my people!"

When the roaring of the crowd died down he continued.

"This watch shall be a symbol of my love for all of you. Though I rule over you with supreme authority I do not wish a single one of you to feel that you do not have a voice in the ruling of this nation. From this day on let anyone who doubts my decisions or questions my judgment wear this watch and stand as my equal to voice their concerns. Should even a single one of you think me unfair or wrong in any matter then simply come to my castle and I will present you this token of good faith."

The king made good on his word and from that day on all citizens knew they held the right to challenge their king's rulings. Over time the watch became a symbol of fairness throughout the land. Anyone who wore it could speak plainly to their ruler.

It was the "don't believe me just" watch.

If you ever felt like listening to Radio Tonga (great music, maybe a bit too much talking), Radio Tunis (ugh god no), Bahrain, or a whole lot of others, Radio Garden has you covered. It's really neat to go on a bit of an exploratory tour.

Have been looking through Texas but don't have enough knowledge of the area to find Ewok Radio. :p
Though KHCB is fun to listne to for a little while - we don't have anything like it!

Damn. Had a short story rejected. That was the first time I'd submitted something in ages.

Ah well.
I know rejection hurts, but it shouldn't. It means you did something, made something, took action. It means you went further than most people ever get to. Still hugs, though.
