I totally misread this when I saw it out of the corner of my eye at the store.

I can't be the first person who thought of Futurama when they found a 12,000-year-old puppy.
It's one thing to have family members who are young children or adolescents--like, you know you're a bit older than them, so it's not weird when there's a rift in generational experience.
But then you get ones who are only slightly younger. I met up with my cousin who was in town this weekend and she's only 6-7 years younger, so we pretty much interact on the same level. Then stuff will come up like me mentioning Clinton vs Bush election. "I didn't really follow that one." "Because you weren't born yet."
Or "Sonic Adventure 2 was my favorite game in elementary school."
Gotta remember I'm old now. #staywoke

That says nothing for your own age; you could have an aunt or uncle who had a kid way before you were born and then you were the final kid in that generation for your family.
I have two cousins who are 15-20 years younger than me and we're in the same generation.
Fun Fact: I saw this for the first time last month. I never even heard of it until my wife asked me to get it on Netflix.
I had to read the book in about 6th grade. We watched the movie in class a few months later.

My mother saw Deadpool this past week, before I get to see it. But that's not the puzzling part. My mother is super-squeamish and easily flustered/embarrassed. My mother is also not a comic book newbie: she always encouraged my reading/collecting, bought me comics and my subscription to Wizard, took me to cons before I could drive and though she didn't read most of the titles herself, she'd talk to me about certain characters/storylines. So, when she mentioned this at dinner Sunday, and her husband admitted he picked the movie, I looked at her like I misheard:
"Uh, Mom, don't you know who Deadpool is?"
(as she's starting to fluster) "........nooooooo. Or if you mentioned him, I didn't remember. I mean, some parts were really funny! And other parts...eggghhhhhhh....", as she buries her face in her hands.
She watched half the movie behind her hands.
You know, we shake our heads at parents who take their kids to Deadpool, but now we need a mother warning?! Or just MY mother. Jeez.
