The guys from the cantina are easily the worst random Star Wars cameo ever.
That was so disappointing. It was like c'mon movie, you were doing so well, you don't have to do this.
The whole Red Squadron ending battle is recycled dialog from A New Hope, all but shouting "REMEMBER THIS LINE! REMEMBER THIS ONE? DO YOU???"
And you know what, fuck that Darth Vader part at the end. In what Star Wars movie did that EVER look like something he'd do? Remember in A New Hope when he frontline stormed into the blockade runner? No? He just let Storm Troopers do the dirty work and waltzed in afterwards because he's literally too important for trash grunt work like that.
The cameos are why I haven't rewatched Rogue One.
It's totally not because the finale (the real one, not the Vader bit) completely devastated me even though I had a feeling things were going that way.
I wish more filmmakers knew how to make big things feel big. I've never felt the mass of star destroyers in other Star Wars movies. Likewise Godzilla never felt as giant in KOTM as he did in Godzilla 2014. I don't know why Gareth Edwards can do it but not others behind movies in the same franchises.

EDIT: I'm also going to say Attack of the Clones, since he did straight-up slaughter that tribe of Tuskan Raiders, including the women and children without a second thought.

A lot of Darth Vader's fighting style in Rogue One (and Star Wars Rebels) is inferences from Star Wars: The Old Republic and other Legends content. It's kind of cross melded into something that sort of defines what a "Sith Juggernaut" is, though officially this is the style of Marka Ragnos, a Sith from before the Great Hyper Space War. It's more defensive and power focused than what he used to do as Anakin.
He's actually kind of terrifying in Rebels; not only does he move to block before his enemies swings have properly started, because he's a fucking 7-foot cyborg, he's not afraid to just grab you and manhandle you in a fight. He can just power through everything you throw at him. If anything, he's too quick in Rogue One.

It's funny watching Empire today. It has a lot of repeated fanservicy bits to the first movie (our odds of survival, force choking), the kind of stuff people complain about with the new movies, but Empire is revered anyway because everyone saw it when they were little.

A lot of the "keep politics out of -blank-" people don't seem to realize that everything they've ever loved has politics and they were just too young to realize it too. It's kind of infuriating; there is basically nothing you can say to someone who isn't willing to examine their own opinions.
Heck, you can go all the way back to Hans Christian Andersen or even Æsop and there's still stuff in there that could be considered "political" (or at least classist).

That's true, and it leads to my thinking I need to keep my eyes off all Star Wars discussions. It adds zero value to my life.
I’ve loved all of the DC Universe shows so far. Here’s hoping WB doesn’t try to merge DC Universe into their own streaming app and screw it all up.
Doom Patrol is my favorite. I’m still holding onto a sliver of hope for Swamp Thing to be saved. And my dream of a JSA centered show may come true with Stargirl.

Yes but so are lots of other things. It is still Disney, not Fox, Blue Sky, Searchlight Pictures, Marvel Studios, Pixar, Lucasfilm, Touchstone Pictures, or Buena Vista that is known for direct to video sequels.
