I feel the budget cuts and the extra episodes that were ordered made it pretty apparent they were limiting the storyline this season. It was very clear to me after the first few episodes it would be "camping at the farm all season long, so let's see how these people survive with one another".
Truth be told, this season reminds me terribly of "The Killing" from AMC. Horribly dragged out with little to no character development, dragging viewers to watch from episode to episode for very minor storyline changes.
Mind you, the last episode was somewhat interesting and one of the better ones but man oh man have there been several snorefests this season... and we're what... halfway in season 2? How is this possible? And you're drudging along in the mud for storyline content? Some people want characters getting more backgrounds... I care about the action and progressing through things with whatever resources they got left, trying to survive in this world. Can I write for them in Season 3? Or are the dumb fucks in suits going to ruin another gold mine with poor decisions again?
What I see are fundamental flaws is watching people living in a world trying to survive by doing the most idiotic things possible... like driving one at top speed while looking at a map then freaking the fuck out when they hit a zombie and swerving out of control like a fucken noob.... or taking off for a drink leaving family and friends behind "oh i lost some dead lost ones, so here's me forsaking the rest like a hypocrite".... "let's perform battlefield surgery while we waste dozens of rounds picking off stray zombies... the writers won't take our ammo stores into account anyways, they are too busy writing down more Lori dialog".... "fuck you I won't listen at you and I'll shoot at someone at a distance even though we're waiting for someone to come back".
Color me unimpressed this season.
There's been some highs, I won't deny it... but man.... this could be so much more fucken better.
