You read that right. With Ame having a life and no longer backing me up as the Tech Admin, I've been quietly looking around at who would be a good replacement in case I got hit by a bus or something. That person is @GasBandit!

Gas has been a member for as long as I can remember, he's level-headed, I think most people like him, and he's tech savvy where I'm not. So while I'm the main dude still, Gas will be around to help out when I need it and will have the ability to keep the lights on just in case. As you are all fond of telling me, I'm not getting any younger.

I don't foresee any changes in the day-to-day workings of the site. So please welcome Gas as your new overlord in training!

He can do anything I can do except remove me as a user. He needed minor Admin rights to be able to help work on the Gallery, so I went ahead and pulled the trigger.

He's not the admin we need, but the one we deserve.

As Bowiee says, kidding aside, I don't really see myself doing much "moderating." I get the feeling we're fairly self-policing at this point, and/or the existing crop of moderators already does a fine job of keeping things how they should be. I may help more with tinkering with the "guts" of things (though I don't have quite the scripting chops Ame does - changing theme stuff will probably be a struggle for me), but you guys don't need to be digging graves for my enemies I might squash the occasional spambot if nobody else is around to catch it, but I'm going to be more mechanic than bosun.

After all, what better moderator to have than a libertarian one?

im going to assume that that phrasing is a regional thing, because up here the emphasis is along the line "is that NOT what we wanted to happen?" in that we did want that to happen.

I don't get how people think I dislike anyone on this board. From time to time, I might not like what some people do, but I have no reason to actively dislike any of the people here.
And I'm wondering if that "implied negative" isn't some sort of Minnesota/Wisconsin thing, because nobody in my incredibly small random sample (asked a few people here at work "To you, what does this say?") saw it implying the inverse like Bones did.

Except when he judges people on their tastes in movies, like he's some kind of movie authority. Or worse, judges on movies that he hasn't even seen.

The main issue I have with Charlie is that when he actually lets the facade slip and actually has a real, honest thought or contribution to make, he suffers from "the boy who cried wolf" syndrome. Even when he's trying to be sincere, nobody will believe him, or worse, assume he's being a dick when he's actually trying to convey an honest thought.

This exactly. Any kind of good nature he puts out just sounds farcical. Like his apology to me when he returned after the Last Vegas debacle. I didn't - and still don't - accept the apology because nothing about him comes across as genuine. If anything he said was supposed to be genuine, it doesn't matter because of anything he's said and done before. His reputation precedes him now to the point that I just assume he's being disingenuous. He can't go around acting like a total dick 95% of the time and then expect anyone to take him seriously the other 5% of the time.

i feel like the same thing happened with Mathias after he shed the Chazwozel moniker.

It might show after reloading the page a few times, but with multiple videos on one page it will never show all of them anymore. It happened around this week, so sort of around the same time.. that you became.... an admin.

All three one page 1 of this thread (the middle onew did show after a reload), or the second or third one on page 178 of the Awesome Videos thread (it does load the 1st one by Terrik, but not the ones by Fade and GB). Funnily enough, when they are quoted by someone, I do see the smaller thumbnail. This only happens on Firefox, where I have NoScript running (though it never gave any trouble before). On Chrome it shows everything fine.

Well then, if it shows on Chrome fine I'd say we have a FireFox issue. Try disabling NoScript for a bit and reload.

Sounds like to me noscript might have some problems with the new xenforo media plugins.
Might just be easiest to add halforums.com to the noscript whitelist? Not like we even show ads any more.

I've had the same issue (also using Mozilla and NoScript), and I already had halforums.com on the whitelist.

Flash player did just update AGAIN in the last day or two (from v189 to v223), so (lack of this update) might also be the reason.[DOUBLEPOST=1415916971,1415916932][/DOUBLEPOST]

I am having issues with the forum ever since they updated Firefox. I can't upload files at all and I think the reply button is wonky. My NoScript is not blocking anything. I usually end up posting from my phone anyways so I didn't bring it up.

Using firefox. Having no problems. Not using noscript.
