I was driving home once and it started to rain. Of Course I slowed down a bit to drive safely in the downpour but the jack ass in front of me came to a stop... a stop.. on the interstate! I had to swerve to get around him. Of all the stupid shit. I did eventually have to stop because the visibility was so bad I couldn't even make out my hood. I at least I pulled over to do it.
I've been in storms like that, and I have no problem with people (safely) stopping or pulling off into a truck stop, or slowing way the hell down and hitting their emergency blinkers. It's the dip-shits around here who seem surprised that wet roads won't handle 80+ mph, or alternatively, seem surprised that wet roads will handle speeds above 10 mph. The really really mind boggling thing about tonight's commute was that there
were accidents, but they were all upstream of my commute. If anything, they should have taken traffic off of my route, as people were bottle-necked behind the accidents; but nooooooo, it took 2.5 hours to drive 25 miles. It's rained 9 of the last 10 days, and they
still don't get it. But then, if it's sunny there are massive slowdowns because no one seems to catch on to where the sun is going to shine in their eyes in time to put their sun shades down, or just to buy sunglasses. And, if it snows they drive slower than when it rains, except when they don't drive at all, or when they all abandon their cars on the freeways (and then bitch and moan when their cars are towed and they have to pay fines to get them back). About the only time people around here can drive normally is when it's about 65 - 70 degrees, cloudy, and not raining. And only then between the hours of 11am and 11:05am.
