Whine like a baby, now with 500% more drama!

I'm not worried, because I don't hang around in public spaces where sick people could be.

* Goes to doctor for sudden knee pain
* Goes for MRI in giant hospital for said knee pain
* Has referral to orthopedic specialist forwarded to orthopedic cancer specialist without being given more info

Well goddammit.

“But it’s just my knee, why do I have to go to a cancer specialist?”
”Oh, I can’t tell you. That would ruin the surprise.”

Well goddammit.
I felt the same way last week when I had to trek my ass to LabCorp for a drug test.
Edit: I totally missed the cancer part. You'd think they'd give you more information.

Well goddammit.
I'd call the specialist office beforehand to find out what exactly the hospital sent over to them.

I'm getting slightly fed up with how my life's going. There's nothing terribly wrong, and the worst things happening are to people around me, not to me, but still....In the past month:
- We've had a financial scare when the people in my apartment didn't pay on time so my mortgage bounced
- I've had the whole medical-complications-after-vasectomy scare and pain
- Our car has developed a very nasty sound, which turns out to be a combination of a suddenly-not-round-anymore tire and a broken starter (currently in the garage)
- Someone crashed into my bike so that needs to go to the shop for repairs as it's out of whack, my mudguard's half-way off, the rear light is broken and it won't go into the highest gear anymore
- We had the whole suddenly-showers-in-the-living-room roof leak issue
- My bathtub's sprung a leak
- My chronic headaches that have been abating lately have returned in full force
- My computer's developed a weird sort of rattling noise, which doesn't go away after vacuuming it and I can't diagnose as what exactly is making it
- My parents' and brother's vacation fell through because of a sandstorm, meaning they were home early and our weekend off changed beyond all recognition
- My father's been hospitalized with a serious blood clot
- Plenty of preparations for the wedding have been going pear-shaped in not-intended-to-be-pear-shaped ways
- My best friend has been in a may-mean-a-divorce-soon serious fight with her spouse
- I've had some pretty serious fights with my fiancee, of the maybe-we-shouldn't-get-married type

Y'know, family scares, financial scares, medical scares, practical impediments, relationship issues, big plans falling through...I don't think there's really a "major" aspect of life where something hasn't gone wrong lately. And, again, there's nothing really majorly wrong, most of these'll sort themselves out over time, are just a financial setback, or are mostly stress-related, but the pile of all of that - and more, I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff! - is jut getting too much for me, which means I'm stressed out, which means I'm handling stuff worse and coping worse and seriously, can at least one aspect of my life be going good please?
Ugh.

Something in my knee that shouldn't be there. The words "benign tumor" have been bandied about. I'm not particularly concerned, outside of having to spend time in places where the sick people are.

I really need caronavirus to slow down a bit. If I have to be trapped inside, I'd much rather it be in the house I am literally 2 weeks away from owning.

Incidentally, boy howdy am I glad I already made sure the money I needed for my down payment was liquid before the market completely shat all over itself.

Some people with enough money will make a killing (cynical joke intended) very soon with the markets' current behavior.

Today was one of those days where a task that should have taken only around 2 hours ended up taking all day because everyone kept coming to me with other, more urgent things that had to be taken care of first, and then at the end of the day my supervisor was like, "Wait, it took you all day to do that two hour case?"

On top of the flu virus, on top of me missing Sunday's game at HoHoKam, on top of all the stuff that's going on...

...today is (technically) my wife's last day working at her day care - as it currently stands.

Long story short: church owns day care, decides to shut it down over money, keeps it open for church families, she's working for them directly.

(No, not an LDS church, by the way - sorry @strawman)

I like how hotels are waiving cancellation fees because of COVID, but somehow the online cancellation buttons have mysteriously disappeared, so I have to actually call.

The hot female candidate who was going to interview with us tomorrow for a position in my department just emailed to say she's found other opportunities, so she won't be coming to the interview, thanks very much though.

Just be happy for Bhamv4

Good News! The computer parts for my gaming PC arrived!

Bad News! The friend who was going to help put it together for me...is now in self-isolation because they're not feeling well.

Which, the latter ABSOLUTELY has priority, but damn, that's bad timing.

I'm starting to get scared now. Not of the virus itself, the only worry I have about that is my dad getting it. No, I'm scared of the financial consequences these quarantines will have. I'm still currently working, but my mom's school district just shut down maybe for the rest of the school year and city-wide shutdowns are inching ever closer all around. I fear it's only a matter of days before my company closes. I have enough saved that I could last for a while, but I'm already foreseeing the long-term hardship all of this is going to have on our economy.

Is times like these I'm happy to be living in a country with social security.
We still don't have a real government (despite this crisis!) And the response here hasn't been the best or most coordinated, but at least on that end, there have been decisions.
Everyone stuck at home due to Corona gets €1480 a month, no matter your original income.
Yeah, it's lower than the average, but it should be enough to keep everyone in a home and fed.

Yup. I can work from home but if my wife's job closes we're fucked.

Dammit, the smoke detector in my bedroom started beeping last night. I know for a fact I replaced the battery in it just this past november. UUugh. Durcell, you have failed me for the last time!

Ugh. That's the worst. It always happens when you are just asleep. Then it beeps, waking you up but you don't know why!! You sit for a while waiting but nothing happens...so you go back to sleep.

*beep*

I'm going to say this is 2nd-worst, only by a tiny margin. Worst-worst is when the battery dies in one of your security alarms and whether it's armed or not, the alarms will start blaring and the monitoring system will call, asking to send help.
This will only happen at two times: the middle of the night, and when you're not at home. Never happens any other time.

And then your bed-chute dumps you in your panic room, so you gotta sit there nursing a bone bruise until Brock comes and lets you out...

I've been staying up way too late recently(for me, anyway). I can't decide if it's because with everybody home and needing my attention I can't get as much done during the day, or since I can't leave the house, I'm less motivated to make sure I get good night's rest. And sleeping-in is not an option, so I gotta start kicking some sense into myself.

When I decide I need to go to bed, but I can't seem to get to sleep, and I don't have the luxury of staying up all night making dancing anime girl videos, my magic sleepy tonic is Tito's and Sprite.

This may not be the best idea under all circumstances though, possibly.

Lately my schedule's been all over the map, too. 11:30 one day, then 4:30 the next.
Most of the time, at least for me, consciousness run-on is due to either getting wrapped up in something, or because the only time I have to myself is after everyone else has gone to bed (at which point I get wrapped up in something, etc). Best advice I have there is to try not to be the last person to bed.

Even though I homebrew, I honestly don't drink very much. I have booze in my basement and in my globe liquor 'cabinet' that I've been not-drinking for years. That whiskey in an oil can I bought back in Jan 2019? I took a couple drinks to taste it (it wasn't bad) and there it sat.

But I mention it, because a couple of weeks ago while I was at the store, I saw whiskey sour mix in one of the few places not hit by panic buying: The alcohol mixers section. And I do like a good whiskey sour.

While I haven't been having one daily, that little box of sour mix packets is about half gone.
