Woman Gets Unsolicited Dick Pic...and Sends Dick Pics in Return!

My god, this is hilarious. The pictures are all censored, but it's probably still not safe for work. Unless your work is okay with seeing censored, hairy crotches.

I really don't get why guys think this is a good game plan. "Hey, this girl looks cute. I'll send her a picture of my dick to break the ice!" And yet, I've heard so many frigging stories of this happening.

What's worse, in this case, this woman wasn't even on a dating site. He contacted her after seeing a restaurant review she'd left on Facebook. So his reasoning was what? "Oh cool, she liked this restaurant. Bet she'd like a picture of my dick, too."

I've been victimized by an unsolicited dick pic. A coworker of mine sent a dick pic to his girlfriend at the time, also a coworker. She liked it, and showed it around to everyone.

I should've reported it as sexual harassment to HR just so I wouldn't have had to deal with them and their future antics.

It's no different than catcalling on the street; there's no game plan of actually trying to get with the girl.

Think King Shark, but swap "I'm a shaaaark!" with "I have a diiiiick!" Everyone knows, no one cares, it makes people uncomfortable, but he keeps doing it anyway.

Given that pornography is well accepted in society as a valid form of entertainment, I wonder if what it teaches men about what women want and are interested in may be influencing their decisions regarding sending unsolicited images and/or rape. I've seen mentions of studies and articles suggesting a connection between sex trafficking and pornography, but haven't read anything more than headlines, and nothing to suggest inappropriate images or rape might be a possible teaching of pornography.

I don't know about that, but porn definitely alters understanding and expectations. Where those changes lead depends on the person.

I think it's simpler than porn. Many men would find the reverse attractive. As dangerous as it is to generalize, I don't think the image of a penis, even a solicited one, would have the same effect on most women as images of a woman's private parts would have on most men.

I think that greatly depends on what types of pornography someone is watching. The category is nearly as encompassing as "animation" or "novellas". Trying to figure out what lessons "pornography" is teaching is like trying to figure out what lessons "documentaries" are teaching. It's a broad subject. And while I'll agree that there's some disturbing shit out there that's almost certainly encouraging some men to send dick pics (for a variety of reasons, some because they think women will appreciate it, some because they know that the woman won't and they get a thrill out of violating them), but there's also porn out there that promotes consent, actual communication, respect for boundaries, and generally defuses the idea that any sort of unsolicited sexual activity is okay.

There is definitely a 10 minute comedy routine, but @Dave's not here so all I can do is give you a bit more context.

So, along with the unsolicited dick pic, I've seen far too much of their life over the past many years. While they were dating, they cheated on each with other coworkers. They were, obviously, on and off again, a very rocky relationship. And then they got married. And then they spent a fortune on getting pregnant.

And then they got divorced.

And I still work with both of them.

If I had reported the pic as harassment, maybe I would've got at least one of them fired, and thus saved myself from watching that train wreck.

I'm not sure why this is treated differently than a flasher on the street. People ITT are pretty blase' about committing sexual harassment/assault/indecent exposure/not sure what the exact laws are in different places, but it's still a really fucked up thing to do.

But then you would probably have to hear the extrapolated story from the remaining one, in excruciating detail, and on continuous repeat as well (as they'll tell it again to every coworker who hasn't heard everything yet)..

I assume it's because dick pics are point-to-point and has at most one unwilling recipient, while flashing is broadcast, and could have any number of unwilling recipients.

Well, perhaps not exactly that, but more along the lines of a text/pm is considered to be "in private" whereas a flasher does his thing "in public."

#44

strawman

strawman

There are rarely laws for flashing specifically, most of the flashers are charged under "public decency" type laws, which wouldn't apply to person to person private communications.

So one would have to report these types of images as sexual harassment, but those laws are generally tied to employment, so they would be hard to prosecute in such cases.

We would need new laws, or to find a law which suitably applies. Perhaps the laws designed to track down and prosecute people who called random numbers and sexually harassed women (in the days before caller ID) could apply.

I have to say, I did also have my reservations. I get the whole ridiculing thing, but she really did keep on going on and on, insulting and aggravating the original dick pic sender. Sending a dick pic isn't OK, being an idiot who doesn't seem to grasp the inner workings of the human mind is not great...But by the end I was really starting to feel sorry for the guy. Getting bombarded with dozens of dick pics, being called out and shamed publicly, insulted, and so on, was....excessive? I feel she should probably have ended and blocked after a few dick pics.
Some dick pic senders are no doubt absolute sleazebags and what have you, this guy gave me the impression he was more socially inept and simply didn't understand than anything else. It ended up almost like some bullying and terrorizing someone for being the awkward guy who did/said the "wrong" thing.

By which, to be clear and repeat, I do not condone dick pic sending.

When I put my "teacher" hat on, I kind of agree with you. Humiliating people doesn't help them learn. One of my colleagues is a primatologist. Here is her take on dick pics.

"In other primate species, like chimpanzees, males do make a habit of parading their erections around and pointing them out to females in the hopes that the females will acknowledge their sexual interest. There is a second dynamic layered on top of this, in that younger and lower-ranking males will be attacked and punished by the senior males if they are caught doing this. So submissive males must hide their junk in the presence of stronger males or risk a beating, but they surreptitiously try to show off their erections anyhow if they won't be caught. I'm sure this has to do with dick pics, somehow, but I don't know how exactly."

I got the impression he's a conceited asshat who thinks women should fall all over themselves to want his dick. "Socially inept" is constantly talking about video games or calculus in a non-nerdy social situation. Exposing your genitalia in a non-consensual situation is being a sleazebag. Socially inept people can also be sleazebags, it's not an excuse.

She didn't steal that picture off his phone, he chose to send that picture to a stranger. It's now hers to do whatever she wants with it, no obligations. And he gets to learn about 'personal responsibility' and deal with the consequences of his actions. The horror.

This woman took what for some people could have been a very disturbing/frightening situation and she brilliantly turned it back on the jerk and became a rallying point for others who have had to deal with these conceited sleazebags. Maybe it will make some people will think twice before they sexually harass people online.

I don't find her argument compelling. The fact of the matter is that we DO live in a society where this is considered inappropriate, and the greater part of society views it as an unwanted sexual advance, not a flirtatious one. That alone counters her argument. It'd be nice if we lived in a society where what's mine is yours, but you better believe you're going to jail if you just walk in and take my TV.

Or to put it another way, it wouldn't particularly matter if it was a bicep. I still wouldn't want to have one thrust in my face and then told I ought to be thankful for it bitch.

...

On the other hand (forgive the stream of consciousness), there's a line somewhere between right to exposure and right to freedom therefrom, that gets into a whole sticky ball involving people who don't want to see whatever exposure, regardless of reason.
