What are you playing?

Oh yeah, I've played Skyrim and New Vegas, they're awesome games but I think I was looking for something more over-the-toppy so I just got Just Cause 2 and am about to give it a go, we'll see how it handles the "more far cry" itch.
I understand, I was making a joke on the Far Cry 3 advertisement :)

If you thought Far Cry was over the top... buckle up.

The Walking Dead: Started this tonight and I'm already knee-deep in chapter 2. I doubt it'll last the week. I wouldn't have stopped even there, but it's past midnight. Addicting and engrossing.

I started playing this as well since my wife and I are suffering from Walking Dead withdrawls. Just finished Chapter 1. Holy hell. The only reason I'm not further is because my gaming time is so limited. Seriously though, all the awards its won? 100% earned.

Should I play Walking Dead if I've never watched the show? It's not that I don't like the show, I've just never been able to catch it on TV when it plays. All this acclaim the game is getting has piqued my interest.

It takes place in the same universe, but the game is about its own characters. It can be enjoyed on its own, though it does have one spoiler for the show that is obvious to most zombie genre watchers.

At the end of season 2 of the show, it's revealed
All dead come back to life, not just people who were bitten.

This is revealed early in chapter 2 of the game. Doesn't ruin anything for any of the characters' fates and most zombie genre people will expect it anyway.

I have the game, only got to the end of Chapter 3. Had to stop.

It was awesome but too much feels man.
Oh great. If you're ducking out, I don't know how Julie is going to handle it since she's been watching. She's already been upset by some of the ... misfortune.

And one of the major reasons is that people keep telling me it gets worse.

After Chapter 3 I stopped playing games for a few days.

Too much feels.

If you couldn't handle Ch.3, you'd never have made it through Ch.4 or 5. It just... I can't even describe it. It's fucking horrible.

Wife and I are playing Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver. She is now my greatest challenge.

Assassin's Creed 3: Anyone else feel underwhelmed by Connor's story after Ezio's? I feel like his personal tale and personality, two elements that made Ezio stand out as a protagonist, have taken a backseat to the American Revolution, which I heard all about when I was in elementary school and again in high school, and don't really care about as a narrative.

As in you're battling each other? Man, imagine the shenanigans that could arise from that.

"House rule! Garchomp not allowed!"
"What! No fair!"
We don't house rule, really. We just go to the battle wi-fi downstairs so all our Pokemon are on an even level and try our hardest to beat each other. It's fun. We'll probably do the same when X and Y come out.

"Battle Wi-Fi"? Wow, I suddenly feel all old and left out (haven't really played Pokemon in 3 or 4 generations), but what the hell is that?

Gen 4 introduced the wi-fi room downstairs in Pokecenters. You go in and can trade or battle with anyone on your Pal Pad (friends list) who's also on at the time no matter where you two are. The battle mode there evens out all participating Pokemon's levels to 50, so there shouldn't be any unfair advantages. Gen 5 made this a little easier to do and you can battle random strangers from all over the world in case you're like me and need to feel superior by beating some 10-year-old Japanese kid at a children's game.

Can't wait to see what they bring in with Gen 6 this October.[DOUBLEPOST=1359348756][/DOUBLEPOST]Walking Dead. Episode 3.

Huh. That's pretty neat, actually... and now I get the "downstairs" part of your comment, which was really confusing me, I thought you guys had a closed wifi network that spanned only your basement and was exclusive for pokebattles or something.

Not since I left my mom's house where there was a Wii and Pokemon Battle Revolution.

You can also trade with anyone in the world, though I hear you encounter hacked or sharked Pokemon quite often, like a shiny level 100 Mewtwo with a perfect nature and IVs, caught in a normal Pokeball.

Farted around in Tera for a couple hours. It's fun combat with a controller, though a bit wonky at first. Once I got used to it, though, I enjoyed it. Since it's going F2P next month it'll be something to mess around with from time to time when I'm bored.

No, what's worse is how hard it is to find a decent trade. Virtually everyone wants LVL 100s and legendaries, no matter how low level or shitty their Pokemon were. I literally only performed 2 trades for Black because of how hard it was to find a fair trade.

Nintendo needs to add a weighting and ranking system in X/Y that determines just how much a Pokemon is worth in trade. As it is, it's just too fucking difficult to find someone willing to trade that isn't an idiot.

I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream called, it says you're cute.

"My back hurts and I can't feel my legs, doctor." - Child whose spine you just surgically severed.

Eh, I played through it a couple of years back. It was neat, don't get me wrong, but it definitely doesn't have the emotional impact that The Walking Dead has.

Ok here's the deal:

Alongside my upcoming playthrough of the Dead Space saga, I've decided to play through every Castlevania commercially released for handhelds and consoles (with the exception of the N64 titles). I will be using emulators for a few of the titles I don't own just yet, but the trip is going to be fantastic.

I will be taking screenshots of credits/ending scenes as I complete them. I will also be using the avatar of the Belmont that I'm currently playing as I progress through the game. Should be fun!

Game list:

Castlevania for NES
Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest for NES
Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse for NES.
Super Castlevania for SNES

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence for PS2
Castlevania: Curse of Darkness for PS2

Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonace for PS3.
Castlevania: Rondo of Blood for PSP.
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for PSP.

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia for NDS (Don't have this one yet)

Castlevania: Bloodlines for GENESIS
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin for NDS (Don't have this one yet)

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow for GBA
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow for NDS (Dont' have this one yet)

Castlevania: Order of the Moon for GBA
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow for PS3

Now the reason for this seperation of games, is due to a minor following of story/timeline. Alot of these games are interwoven and I'm going to try and play them close to their timeframe.

Beating Castlevania 3 is one of my highlights of hard as fuck games I beat.....when I was 8 years old. Now when I try it sends me packing. The game is hard. Unfair, silly hard. The Japanese version (while having superior music) is quite a bit easier, I think. Out of everything there, it's Castlevania and Castlevania 3 that may make you think twice about this challenge (unless you've already beaten, if so, kudos).

You're missing the OG Gameboy Castlevanias there. They're not the best of the series, but they're solid games with Belmont's Revenge having one of the best soundtracks, not only of the Gameboy, but of games in general.

I considered the 3 GB games, seeing that the 1st two are storyline cannon but in the end I'm not sure how the emulation would be for them as I don't own those. I may change my stance on it and look it up as the progression goes.

Good thing you're not playing the GBA/DS games first, or you'd hate yourself. They're far and away the best of post-Super Castlevania. Symphony redefined the series in a great way for the years to come, until those horrible 3-D games.

The games featuring Soma are interesting, adding the soul-stealing mechanic to give you new powers instead of the traditional sub-weapons. Order of Ecclesia does something similar, except you're given a left and right-hand weapon for each soul equipped. Also, OoE is hard as fuck, in my opinion the hardest of the portable Catslevanias.

I played and finished the first GBA Castlevania (the one with Soma) and really liked it. The reason they're that far down my list is where they take place in the timeline. My goal is to do the entire Belmont series, then move onto the Soma+ series.

Nice. I should add, though, that one of the PS2 ones isn't bad, even though it's 3D. I can't remember which it is, though. I think Lament of Innocence. I actually enjoyed that one.[DOUBLEPOST=1359531428][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh, one last thing. For the second Soma game, be sure you have a stylus for your DS. To kill bosses you have to trace these glyphs that show up when they're about to die, and if you screw it up they get a bit of health back and you have to keep doing it till you draw the glyph right (they get more complicated as the game goes on, too).
