Man, if this doesn't cast some light on Xbox's console plans, I dunno. They muzzled him quick.Adam Orth is the creative director of Microsoft. What a swell fella. The other guy works at BioWare.
Also of note, this Orth dude has put his Twitter on full lockdown. You can't expand any tweets and a lot of his are hidden compared to when I saw this a few hours ago.
I just can't believe that it's true that Microsoft would be so arrogant as to go through with it. There's apparently 30 million 360s that have never had a Live account attached to it. 30 million of 75 million 360s have never been online.I guess that's one way to say, "if you don't like it, don't buy our console."
Could have been said more tactfully, but I don't think they believe its a real problem.
Sadly, in this case, it may not even actually be arrogance. There are so many people working at Microsoft (and worse yet, in charge at Microsoft) who've never lived somewhere that high speed internet access hasn't been available since the advent of broadband that it's scary. I mean, these are the same people who can't figure out how to fix the coffee maker in the break room when it needs to be rinsed, when the coffee maker says "PLEASE PRESS RINSE," right on the front in big, bold print (it needs to be done several times a day). And the same people who are apparently so unobservant who, when Nestea redesigned their Lemon flavored tea cans, and they suddenly looked a lot more like Sprite cans, to avoid confusion the people who are in charge of the people who stock the beverage fridges decided to move the tea away from the Sprite... complained so much about the tea being discontinued that two weeks later they had to put up signs on all of the fridges telling people where the tea was.I just can't believe that it's true that Microsoft would be so arrogant as to go through with it. My Xbox 360 has been gathering dust for quite a while now.I only turn it on to play Ace Combat.Xbox Live is one of the primary reasons why I'm going PS4. The other being I only have two god damn RPGs that aren't also a shooter that's The Last Remnant (which I stopped playing halfway through because it was BORING) and Final Fantasy XIII (which I haven't picked up since finishing it, a first for a Final Fantasy). It doesn't help that I can't think of a single Xbox exclusive franchise I actually give a shit about.
Don't even get me started on Ace Combat. I liked 6 but Assault Horizon was AWFUL. Totally ruined a great series to appeal to the fucking dewchuggers. My Xbox 360 has been gathering dust for quite a while now.I only turn it on to play Ace Combat.
My next console (if I get one) will be a PS4,too.
I can't really blame them this time around. The architecture of the Cell Processor is so different from what they are using with the PS4 that they can't emulate it on the system, which means they'd have to put it in the hardware and THAT would raise the price obscenely. They are talking about letting people stream PS3 games tot he PS4 somehow but they haven't given any kind of details for it yet.I mean not backwards compatibility? Are you even fucking trying to impress us over there? That was one of my bigger disappointments with the PS3, was I had all these games that I still liked playing such as the retro collections. Why should I upgrade when I'd have to have the older model still plugged into the TV to get the experience I want? At least Nintendo gets that part right.

You know the 360 was only partially compatible with XBox games, yeah? Like, I could play Barbie Horse Adventure, but not Capcom vs SNK 2. Older PS3's are compatible, but they cut that to make it cheaper to build. It's shitty both ways, but I wouldn't expect the new XBox to let you play much, either.Survey is still out what I'll end up going with. I have a WiiU, but if it can't compete I'll look into one of the other consoles. I'd like to see what Microsoft will be offering, as I'm just not satisfied at all with Sony. I ended up getting a PS3 for Christmas of 2011, and I really only use it for the Bluray player and a few PSN games.
Our 360 we got from Dave and Busters (months and months of half price games with the best ticket payouts).
My preference right now is the 360.
I have a bunch of games I have lined up to play. I think I'm going to give Bioshock: Infinite a play on the Xbox next, followed by Assassin's Creed 3 on the WiiU. Maybe I can decide from there my console preference.

Those of us whose parents made us give our old consoles to our cousins.Who needs backwards compatibility?
I'm so sorry. I sold my Sega Genesis to my cousin when I was like 13, along with all of my games for it, including the sonic and knuckles combo-cart! And what did I do with that money? Those of us whose parents made us give our old consoles to our cousins.
You can buy old consoles between $20-$40 and most games, even the rarer ones will usually not cost you more than $5-$50.Those of us whose parents made us give our old consoles to our cousins.
Yeah, that's pretty much what I did too. Works well for that. I will not, however, be buying a WiiU.My Wii is an emulation box. I feel no bit of shame about doing it too.
I don't think they've gotten a Saturn emulator working yet, though I'll admit that I haven't looked for a few years. My PSP emulates everything up to the Saturn.
