What are you playing?

I may have snuck into the shop in my 7 year old daughter's town and bought her bug net before she even realized there was a shop. /badparent

Of course, I gave her the 10k bells for her first house payment so w/e. :p

And we did the ever important cross town fruit breeding, so really, it's all good.

Would that mean she can't get a bug net at all now?

Got Dei, adding Zappit.

Mine's 5370-1685-4344.

I'd say don't steal anything, but I have nothing to steal. Barely got to play 20 minutes so far due to other shit this past day or so, and I'm almost finished with Luigi's Mansion, so I wanna ride that ghost train to the finish.

You can't visit anyone unless they open their town while playing anyways, so you'll know if someone is being a dick. You can also boot everyone out whenever you want.

So if I want people to come freely, I have to go to the train station and open up each time I play?

Thanks for opening yours; our time zone difference means I could still make some bells today even though the recycling place in my town closed over an hour ago.

EDIT: Also, I have pears. I don't know how to help people spread different fruits except to drop pears around your town. I probably need a shovel. Currently I have pears, flowers, and seashells. And I live in a tent. Do I win Animal Crossing?

I played Proteus today. A pleasant, and somewhat interesting experience. The audio is pretty neat, and it was interesting to see how the sounds mixed in with the music as I walked around. Some of the visuals are pretty trippy, but it's really not worth $10. If I hadn't gotten this as part of the Humble Bundle, I would be very unhappy with my purchase. I'm not even sure it'd be worth $2. It's a nice experience, but I'd rather have a good music album. That said, if you've got it as part of the Humble Bundle 8, and it looks interesting, check it out. It's not a game, but it's a nice piece of art.

A little bit of a spoiler, if anyone wants to experience totally fresh:
I was even more underwhelmed with the game before discovering that at nightfall a portal opens up that advances the seasons. You start in spring, then move to summer, fall and finally winter. New stuff appears in each season, and finally there is an ending of sorts. Kind of rounds out the game and gives it a progression that makes it more of a complete piece of art, rather than just an odd doodle.

Finished Far Cry 3.

Mostly a great game, but goddamn those endings were shit.

Thank you, Ubisoft, for a completely unnecessary twist and semi-betrayal. Everyone else was gonna leave the island anyway and Jason was going to stay. Forcing him into that choice was garbage. Then if you go, it feels unfulfilling. If you stay, you get murdered.

Again, great game until ass final mission/ending.

Citra made it very obvious how this was going to go down pretty early on. It wasn't the worst ending I've seen but it did feel a bit rushed at least.

I found one pear on the ground that I planted. (Yea you need a shovel). My town has cherries, but I was playing with my kids all day so they took them all. Maybe tonight I will have some again!

And yes you need to open your gate at the train station.

Hah, that could have been a critique of Far Cry 2.

Mass Effect 3. Loving the hell out of it. I'm even really into the multiplayer, which I usually hate.

So I saw the penny arcade comic about Gunpoint. Then I saw the gunpoint demo the next time I opened steam, so I said "meh, lets look at what all that punching is about then".

The demo has 5 levels, each of which can be completed in under 2 minutes. I've played the demo for at least an hour. I'll probably be buying the game on payday ;)

So I've been playing Crusader Kings 2 recently with some friends online. That game is.....nuts. I was doing good in one game until one of the other players married his gay daughter to my heir. This affects fertility which could seriously mess up my lineage. So I had her murdered, Longshanks style. I hinted at this over comms. Pretty soon after my heir walked into an inn and it exploded. My entire lineage fell appart and my kingdom crumpled. It took a week for the dude to admit that he did that because I murdered his daughter.

On a lighter, less hate-crimey note, I've been playing Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes. Its this perfect blend of Civilization and Heroes of Might and Magic. Its by Stardock, which should say a lot. There are definite balance issues, and some other problems, but its remarkably well done.

Isn't that Zappit's code?

No problem. I just caught it when I tried to input it.

Starting tomorrow, I have an ordinance beginning that will allow my shops to stay open later. I think re-tail at least should be open until 12 pst, if not later. I try to leave my gates open most days so if you need to do some late night selling my town should be available. I also have apples in storsge for anyone that wants to stop by and get a few to plant.

Edit: Actually my shops will all be open 3 hours later, so retail would close at 2am pst

Two notes. One, this may be the most complex game I have ever played, and I like dwarf fortress. I was lucky to have someone teach me the basics. Two, I don't know how good it is single player. It can't be that bad since the guy who taught me clocked hundreds to thousands of hours. But the intrigue won't be as interesting.

More complex than Dwarf Fortress? Inconceivable!

I actually believe that Toady deliberately makes Dwarf Fortress even more complex every time a more complex game comes out.

If Dwarf Fortress had a passable GUI I'd be all over it, too.

I bought Civ V during their sale.

..... Sweet Jesus, is it 0500 ALREADY?!
Want... want to create a marathon multiplayer game...? it won't end badly. Really. I mean, who needs sleep, Officer, I ask you. Weak fools. The plebes. Those whose destinies are not those upon the throne of empires, whose duties are not the salvation and grand dominion of their peoples over the earth!

I really want to promote Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes. This is a real sleeper hit that I had never heard of. It's Stardock, and is imho the true successor to the HOMM title, blended nicely with some Civ and some familiar Stardock features (like designing your own units, which is amazing.)

There are still some unpolished aspects of the engine, like on the tactical map LOS is not blocked for ranged units. But it's still exceptional.

*sneaks in* Hi, I'm playing Animal Crossing New Leaf... Please add me as your friend if you're playing, too. Thank you! (I've already added Dei, Zappit, and Far, so if one of you three adds me, instant benefit!)

Playing last of us. There was an auto save bug that also disabled normal saving last night so I have to play through the bit I did again. That bit being one of the most emotionally difficult things I've witnessed in a game.

Very much enjoying it so far.
