Apparently the deal with Megatokyo now is that Fred was diagnosed with a serious heart condition.
Wasn't his wife also seriously ill a while back?Apparently the deal with Megatokyo now is that Fred was diagnosed with a serious heart condition.
I think his wife has Cancer still.Wasn't his wife also seriously ill a while back?
I've read 5 of them, and all have since fallen off my reading list, not because I didn't like them, but because of the update schedule. I'm willing to put up with something like OotS; Goblins is an edge case. You don't read a lot of webcomics, do you?
Falling somewhere between Goblins and VGCats:
- Megatokyo
- Erfworld
- Sugar Bits / Grim Tales from Down Below / Power Puff Girls Doujinshi
- ExtraLife
- Real Life Comics (at least, right after the birth of Greg Dean's daughter)
- Sheldon (during the production of the documentary "Stripped")
- Drive (still in limbo)
- The Wotch
I think that's a fair reaction. I don't even read all those myself, and some I only follow because they're in my RSS reader. I didn't follow them regularly when I had to manually check for updates.I've read 5 of them, and all have since allen offm y reading list, not because I didn't like them, but because of the update schedule. It'll probably come into play about 2yrs later in the strip knowing Thunt.Well, Forgath's got a bulletproof beard, at least.
which equals, at this rate, approximately a week and a half of in-universe time passage. It'll probably come into play about 2yrs later in the strip knowing Thunt.
Wait... Ruby was willing to deny Kin a chance to restore her tail?
That's the blue one, the one with a face tattoo. We didn't get an altsplanation about Ruby.Wait, according to her Altsplination, wouldn't she be confused as hell about what that thing is seeing as her curse makes her forget that anyone who dies ever existed?
That is correct. The page was later taken down, not sure why.Didn't we? I thought she was disgusted with humans and hated them all but tolerates them because a human family hid her while the monkey rampaged (because he's, you know, a monkey) and she was supposed to be the sacrifice.
The image is still on the server though.Oh, that's a bummer. Glad I caught it then!
Can you blame her? She's really trying to help Kin, but she's damaged because of her captivity. And who is to say how any of us would be?Damn, Ruby is a cold-hearted bitch.
Yeah, I can blame her. Seeing our Kin do something Ruby finds repulsive and dangerous has got to be shocking, but her attack on Kin is a low blow. I've seen many people who have been hurt by a variety of things, and generally their response is to try to help someone who they think is in the danger that they used to be in. I can understand Ruby being all sorts of nasty to Minmax, since he's the perceived attacker, but not this specific type of nasty to Kin. Ruby is being an arrogant bitch, and while that is a type of defensive mechanism, it's not the only one, and it's not a healthy one. A lot of hurt people go the other direction, especially if they suffer self-esteem issues, and try to help others before they're even stable themselves. Unless Ruby views our Kin as a threat, and I can't fathom why she would, then her lashing out is just being nasty.[DOUBLEPOST=1378415034,1378414698][/DOUBLEPOST]I'll add, since Thunt seems to be setting up Ruby as another side of Kin, and not really a wholly separate other, but representative of Kin's inner struggle, it's believable that this is Kin's self-hatred, as many people who have been through trauma tend to blame themselves at some point, and self-hatred is one of the core issues of depression. However, being understandable doesn't make it acceptable. I have sympathy for anyone who says such awful things to themselves, because I say the same awfulness, but at the same time I do not accept that such behavior is okay. I know it's not helpful to label things as good or bad in cases like this, but it's certainly not helpful for Ruby to say that, and it's not an effective way to show caring. Any depressed person should reject such thoughts as untrue and unhelpful, and that's my reaction to Ruby. Right now she's acting like the part of every hurt and depressed person that needs to be rejected and combated. Can you blame her? She's really trying to help Kin, but she's damaged because of her captivity. And who is to say how any of us would be?
