Wyrmrest Accord WoW Guild Sexy Fun Time.

I forgot that they didn't add achievements until WOTLK. I think I have a few weapon skill related achievements. I still loved strutting out my CE pets, especially in bet battles.

I think it was just after BC was released that they did away with weapons skills. I remember having to go to SW or ORG and buying the base weapon types that the vendors sold and running around killing initial quest mobs for hours. Back then, some weapon types were so rare, they weren't even worth leveling unless you got one specific weapon. For example, fist weapons were nigh non-existent.

Of course, I also cut my teeth on a PvP server, so there was the usual TM shutdown and regular raids on the capitals. I remember Stranglethorn Vale being simply terrifying. Booty Bay lockdowns, Stitches being kited into town in Duskwood. Man, looking back, the entire game seemed so much more involved and exciting.

And GOD DAMN those freaking Son's of Arugal in Silverpine forest. That was by far my favorite zone in the game back then.
Yeah totally. A person can argue all they want about how much better of a game WoW is now, but the server communities are almost all dead and gone and those made the game worth playing.

I would actually pay a subscription fee for official vanilla WoW servers. Everything prior to BC. Man, Scholo runs were so epic back then. Rattlegore hit like a mack truck. I remembered some frenzied healing back then.

There were some mobs just outside the dark portal that were great for leveling weapon skills. I think they dodged everything after they got down to certain health. Leveled a bunch of my weapon skills that way until they nerfed it.

I think you mean the Rock Flayers. They're in Hellfire Peninsula and they went invincible for a bit before they died.

Oh, yeah, the servants of whatsiwhosits.[DOUBLEPOST=1378432399,1378432157][/DOUBLEPOST]
You have to admit that you can sleepwalk through content nowadays. I never did the huge 40 man raids or anything, so I don't mean the super tedius stuff, but the instances, at least from a healer standpoint were way more fun back then. everything now is spam healing AOE heals with some light spot healing. It's boring as hell. Tanks don't even really have to attract aggro anymore very much. There's a reason I never re-upped my subscription this summer. The only thing that draws me back temporarily is the lore related stuff.

Yep I agree.... on everything but Normal and Heroic Raiding. Dungeons and LFR are easy, but they're meant to be.

There are tough instances for people looking for that old school dungeon crawling feel, it's called Heroic Scenarios and Challenge mode Dungeons.

By everything I'm assuming you mean LFR and Dungeons, which are meant to be easy.

It's boring as hell.
More boring than the dungeons used to be? I'd agree.

Sounds like the reason you didn't re-up is because there is hard content out there, but you didn't want to do it. The difficulty is still there from Vanilla, even harder, but unlike Vanilla it's a choice now, and not the only option.

That's why MoP is the best WoW has ever been. It has something for casuals, mid-levels and hardcores. Instead of just catering to the upper 5% or those with 5+hrs of free time to play games.

I think it really suffers from bloat though. There is so much, people feel they need to do everything, or don't realize certain things are available.

I think it's less rose colored glasses, and more that it's just lost the new feeling. Also you can't deny the social aspect of the game has went into the shitter. It's always funny to me when I find a group who is willing to help people run through the summonable bosses they need in the isle and people are amazed people stuck with the group the whole time. It's just different.

The game is better, but the players aren't. And I don't mean that skill wise.

I dunno about suffering from bloat but there definitely can be an overwhelming level of things to do now vs before.

I'll totally agree here. Most (I'm not saying all) people who prefer a certain era of the game, started at that era. So of course the game will feel it's best for them at that point because of the new feeling.

Oh for sure, the creation of xserver dungeons/raids/pvp definitely changed the social aspect of the game.

Isn't a strange occurrence on my server, mostly because we're a very full server. There's always pick up groups, pick up raids, pick up summon bosses etc.

The game is better, but the players aren't. And I don't mean that skill wise.
Oh I definitely agree here too. People who still play are too bitter and jaded to enjoy what the game has become in its positives. New players are a bit overwhelmed as well. Obviously I don't mean all old players are bitter or all new players are overwhelmed but it seems to be a commonality enough to mention it.

Yes I am still kind of confused when people say you can "sleepwalk" through content like that is all the game is now.

Yes, you can sleepwalk through content that is designed to be like that, since the Cataclysm dynamic of attempting to make the gearing system difficult kicked them in the ass. However, the hard content is there. Challenge Modes are downright insane, so much so that very few people are dedicated enough to even do them. Heroic Scenarios are tough but not inaccessible, and while LFR is pretty easy, NORMAL raids are as hard as they have ever been in the games history, let alone heroic raids.

This is such a common thing too. People who call the game "too easy" but yet the content is there with a challenge. It's like me calling Halo "too easy" because I decided to play on Easy and never even looked at Hard or Legendary. I just don't understand it.

I'm on a full server too, it's not hard to find a group to run through the basic stuff like that. Enough to get through the weekly or whatever, but to help people get all the summonables down for the achiev. Or just helping someone in passing. I've had people try to tip me for helping with a rare or a hard quest. It's just a whole different attitude towards others.

It's different than when there was just one path. You knew your friends and guildies wanted to do the same stuff. Maybe some guilds were RP guilds, or raid guilds, or casual guilds, or pvp guilds. That was about it though. There is so much now, it can be hard to find your place.

Anyways, all I was getting at is it's a bit more complicated than rose colored glasses.

I love it, honestly. It has very few dailies, and the ones it does have are rather quick and painless. You also get excited coming across anything. Find a patch of dirt on the ground? Coins! A moss chest? Coins, Charms, and maybe epics! A large chest on fire? Oh man! Epics! A treasure hanging from the side of a mast on a pirate ship? Do some platforming to get it. A random elite boss wandering around? Team up to kill it!

They also learned from the mistakes of making the game so alt unfriendly for awhile. Now it's EXTREMELY alt friendly, because all the gear drops you get (and they are downright plentiful, I got at least eight last night alone from chests, mobs, and quests.) are Bind on Account, and can be traded to be used by other characters on the server instead of your main. You can farm all day on a single character and outfit an alt in full epics. It's wonderful.

I am having more fun now then I did the last three patches combined. Don't get me wrong, they were fun too, but this just feels like what I have been wanting forever, a simple relaxing way to collect gear for my character and my alts without a huge time investment.

I have to agree! I got tons of gear last night that I can give to other characters. I also really lucked out and got two of the things to turn the pieces into 535 Timeless gear.

Now....what a shame that my other hunter is on a different server :(

Alliance Guild took down Garrosh and earned the Alliance version of the scene. Even though it's Alliance focused, it lets us see who the new Warchief is. All I can say is.... AWWW YEAH.

Most of the alliance leaders are either non-entities or they're shitty. Jaina looks like a reverse Dr. Blight from Captain Planet.

At least the hordes shitty leaders are entertainingly evil (except for Garrosh, fuck him dead).

I'm amazed Blizz considered Vol'Jin the "unexpected" choice. I think everyone knew it was him ever since Garrosh kicked him out of Org. No other Horde characters were given so much story/importance compared to him, save for maybe Lor'Themar.

Be aware that they said the new Warchief was "unexpected" back before Vol'jin got all his development. Back then everyone just assumed Thrall was coming back. Kosak even commented on it.
