The one really noticeable thing I wish they'd done is use hex-based maps instead of squares. Why couldn't they ever just make a solid sequel after the second one? I loved that series so much.

A playthrough of the campaign won't cost you a single dime. The story will always be the same every time you pay through. That's one of the reasons once you finish the main campaign with one of the characters, it simply unlocks all the dungeons as daily missions so you can grind that way if you want, or you can go do the story on a harder level, or you can do survival waves. Or, you can just uninstall the game and never play it again if you don't want to.So I guess here's my question:
I enjoyed playing D3 only for a single playthrough of the storyline. Do I have to pay any real cash to fully play through this game? Is there any purpose to play through the storyline more than once other than gear/another hero that doesn't change anything storyline wise?
THAT'S the game I was thinking of when you posted that video. I couldn't remember the name of the game, but it seemed familiar. If you guys ever liked Rastan (the first part of Volgarr is a straight Rastan tribute) or Ghouls and Ghosts, you should be playing (and swearing loudly at) Volgarr the Viking. It's on Steam. It's totally worth it.
Well, that's good that it got worked out, I suppose... but as curious as I am about it, I don't know if I will ever voluntarily pay a subscription fee for an MMO again.Pretty much just FF14 lately. It's a lot of fun and the horrible server issues are non-existent now, far as I can tell.
I do wish there were a few more quests that wouldn't open till, say, you get one class to 30+, as Fate grinding/Hunter logs do get a little tedious if you want to level more than 3 or so classes past 15-20.I am absolutely enthralled with FFXIV atm. Seriously, amazing. It's what a MMO of the Final Fantasy Universe always should have been. Engaging stories, varied monsters, xp grinding that isn't too tedius, fun class systems and all around great atmosphere.
What's the stop code? If you're bluescreening on prototype you've got problems.Well, Prototype has a tendency to BSOD my computer, so I'm going back to playing Dwarf Fortress.
Heh, those wacky dwarves.
It flashes by too quickly to see. And I don't feel like replicating the problem. What's the stop code? If you're bluescreening on prototype you've got problems.
Right click your "my computer" and choose "Manage," then go to the event viewer. It'll have a record of what the stop code was. Really, all of them, arranged in chronological order. It flashes by too quickly to see. And I don't feel like replicating the problem.
And yeah, I know my rig's dying. Thus my post in the Tech subforum about getting a new rig.
Shining Force was one of my absolute favorite games on the Genesis. What's the stop code? If you're bluescreening on prototype you've got problems.
So after shining force, now I got a GBA emulator and have started on the Fire Emblem series. Finished the tutorial chapters last night (all 10 of em)... I sure hope the handholding stops soon.
I mean, Shining Force's art, atmosphere and presentation was just as fisher price, but dammit, they tossed you in your first battle with NO NET. Sink or swim!
Of course, the penalty for death was a lot less onerous, too, I suppose.
Ever play Buck Rodgers?Shining Force was one of my absolute favorite games on the Genesis.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buck_Rogers:_Countdown_to_Doomsday[DOUBLEPOST=1379511887,1379511795][/DOUBLEPOST]I didn't even know there was a Buck Rogers game for the Genesis.
Just make sure not to get that other Xcom game, it was horrible.I need to stop making new Fire Emblem Awakening saves and just play Monster Hunter 3 for the period of time until new Pokemon comes out, because once that happens I doubt I'm going to give a shit about any other 3DS game.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown is still fantastic. Nearly sent my closest friends to their deaths tonight in a terror mission where the outer space fucks sent a sectopod and a cyberdisc among the other patch of freaks. Several zombies had to be taken out by my airborne wife, and my aunt and best friend were stuck in a bar shootout with some floaters. Fucking love this game. I was ready to give up on the mission, but somehow pulled through with no casualties (though two-thirds of the team had to go to the hospital). Enemy Within is gonna be my #1 game to get for the end of the year.
Yeah, I'm not hearing good things. I'm still gonna check it out through rental, but that's as far as I'm going. It seemed suspicious that Gamestop dropped the price by $20 only one week after it came out.Just make sure not to get that other Xcom game, it was horrible.
Mass Effect ripoff with terrible AI that can't do shit.
Enemy Unknown was a sleeper hit for me last year.
Ugh. Is the story at least decent?[DOUBLEPOST=1379559841,1379559784][/DOUBLEPOST]The game is terrible simply because it's such a let down after playing multiple games of Enemy Unknown.
Extremely linear gameplay with weak Mass Effect like discussions with an absolutely putrid AI.
That or just went ahead with what they originally intended. I thought the concept was neat even if it wasn't exactly XCOM. Turning its gameplay into a Mass Effect rip-off wasn't a good direction.I really can't blame them for the lack of quality.... they had to completely remake the game because XCOM fans hated the FPS element. They really should have just dropped it.
The storyline wasn't terrible but the gameplay took me out of it 2 chapters in. I didn't feel I should be babysitting bad AI.Ugh. Is the story at least decent?[DOUBLEPOST=1379559841,1379559784][/DOUBLEPOST]

It sounds like that is genuine Mass Effect experience at least. The storyline wasn't terrible but the gameplay took me out of it 2 chapters in. I didn't feel I should be babysitting bad AI.
Most people I talk to put Vice city and San Andreas in their top two, but their positions change from person to person... then yeah, 3,4, 1+2. Of course, 1+2 were top down 2.5d sprite games so I don't think they really count the same.Liberties City story sucked.
IMO
GTA 3> GTA 4 > GTA 2 then whatever.
I haven't played 5 but probably will when it either comes on PC or PS4. The graphics on the current gen systems is pathetically bad thanks to Xbox.
San Andreas > Vice City > GTA 3 > GTA2 > GTA > GTA 4
Man, Gay Tony and Lost and the Damned were both so much better than vanilla 4.Liberties City story sucked.
