Because it has a racial component (though the shooter hasn't been described yet, that's how the family of the victim is portraying it), and because like every other shooting lately it's going to be used as a prybar against self defense laws and the 2nd amendment in general.

To be fair, it's become grossly apparent that no one seems to understand the current self defense laws are in practice. Perhaps a national campaign is in order for educating people in areas with these laws what they can and can't do legally? It would certainly help cut down on shit like this.

That would be very reasonable. Which means it will never occur.

The powers-that-be are not known for outreach programs to educate citizens on their rights. If anything, lately they seem to be more interested in seeing how much they can sneak past before anyone calls them on it.
