So, my wife caved and we got new baby rats today.

Yaaaaay, right?

NOPE.

One of them is still a little sick, despite what the pet store indicated, but that's no big deal. The problem is that after we had the new ones out for a while and put them away, we let the old ones out. They didn't freak out at the babies--they freaked out at each other. Apparently even the mild amount of hormones put off by pre-adolescent little rats is too much for them to stay sane. The moment we put them back in their cage, they mellowed out.

So, newbies go back to the pet store Wednesday. At least we're giving them a little vacation from shitty food, shitty living quarters, and isolation. They're small and cute and well-behaved, so they'll get adopted again soon. On our end though, no more rats until after our big guys pass away.

Alternate history where Donkey Kong was the Popeye game it was envisoned as, and Nintendo became known for producing amazing licensed games.

Legend of Zelda -> He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
Mario Kart -> Tiny Toons Racer

Does that mean Samus Aran would have been Boba Fett or something?

Observations from europe:

If Americans are the fat ones, why is it Europe that has value meals at McDonalds for people who want two sandwiches/burgers/orders of mcnuggets?

Americans might be obnoxious, but people who work at restaurants should not immediately show that they despise our very existence. Someone on our trip was literally shoved out of the way by a waitress.

You think Mindancer, Chiller, and Dirk Davis are friends in comic book limbo? Spendin' the time shit-talkin' Booster Gold and the DCU. I bet Mindancer would be the most bitter.

Mindancer: What the hell is up with my skull face? Superman has a billion comics, movies, tv shows, and gum wrappers telling his origin but what do I got? ZIP!

And they'd treat Blackgaurd as the lucky one, like at least they cared enough about him to kill him off.

Waiting on hold for the 'leader' to join a conference call. Why is there no good hold music? I honestly don't think I've ever heard any.
The German Securitas Dispatching has some sort of variation on the 9th of Beethoven, reworked to be "happier" and more "upbeat". It lasts about 25 minutes before you get back to the start, and even so, it's barely noticeable (the 9th is pretty handy for this, as it builds up and down the loudness and number of instruments anyway). I genuinely like it, and call them when a mail would do just for the waiting music.
It's the only place I know of with waiting music worth listening to, though. Well, those and the ones who use a large-database auto-DJ. Waiting for 15 minutes or so with Norah Jones isn't much of a pain either, especially when you're getting paid for it.

I once put together a hold music CD for the company I worked for. Within 2 days of me swapping it in, tech support people were coming and asking what I'd changed because their callers were asking them to be put back on hold. It was just classic pop songs in midi rendered on a Yamaha S-YXG50 (example) ... ahh the 90s.

If you do this again, you need to include MIDI adaptations of songs from South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut. See if anyone tries to sing along while they're on hold.

Doesn't seem likely. Now that I work for a radio station, our hold music is... our radio station.

This is what the roads look like in parts of New Brunswick right now:

That's ice. The entire road is just pure ice.
(Picture not taken by me. Friend of mine posted it on Facebook.)

We just had that last night. I saw a pizza delivery guy almost get hit by another fella coming down the hill. I turned around and called my boss, saying there was no way I was trying to cross town.

I love the latest version of myfitnesspal. You can track your fat, sugar, and vitamin intake really easily. I noticed that my sugar intake had been a little much lately. It's so cool to get that data easily and make a plan of action. Turns out a lot of it is from fruit, but it also allowed me to see where I can make easy cuts.

My math might be wrong, so I'm not going to put this into a victory just yet, but I'm doing a project at work which has a time period of six months... pretty sure I can have it finished in less than half that time.

If there's anything I've learned about project planning, it's that you estimate how long you think it'll take, and then triple it to account for scope change, testing, vetting and approval.

Which category does "stupid changes made by stupid people" fall under?
