[TV] The What Anime Are You Watching Thread!

What I'd like to see? The return of Case Closed or Lupin, but I doubt that will happen.
I'm not sure about all of it, but I know a good chunk of all three Lupin series are on Hulu (Plus?), as is The Woman called Fujiko Mine, and a several of the movies.

Manga not anime, but I went and picked up the first volume of Yotsuba&! I've read 3 chapters so far and promptly went and ordered the next volume from Amazon. What a fun, silly, delightful, and pretty book.

Yeah, Yotsuba is fun! My library has the first ten, gotta finish those some time. They also have almost all the Case Closed volumes except for one which I'm tempted to buy for them because their book provider service is apparently run by idiots. Or just ask to have a book transferred from another library, whichever's good.

BE starts out a little slow, also the anime cuts out a lot of dialogue scenes in favor of action. I found it better in the long run, though it does take a couple volumes to really get going.

Yeah I'm warming up to it after the 8th chapter. One major plot hole though, why didn't they just tell him from the get go that he was a demon? Than he would've known and would've known what not to freak out Fujimoto, so he wouldn't get posessed by Satan and freakin' die! Its not like it was that much of a secret any way, Mephisto Pheles(I really hate his name for some reason), Yukio, and the Yoko looking chick knew so why couldn't he know? It feels like the entire point of this secret, was for him to find out and accidentally get his step-dad killed to let the memory traumatize him! Messed up. Also while I know Yukio clearly loves Rin as his brother, I didn't care for that scene where he was all "You killed father." D-did you forget that you withheld VITAL information from your brother about the world of demons and magic? If anything you killed him! I really hope they address that later.

EDIT: I also wish they didn't call high ranking exorcists meisters. Soul Eater wasn't even over when this started, kinda shameless.

I was going to come and complain about how my wife is having me watch Ghost Hound, which is somewhat interesting but its pacing crawls. I think we're at last hitting where the set-up slides into things happening.

Latest One Piece Chapter my reaction: SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! OH MY GLOB OH MY GLOB OH MY GLOB! FUCK YEEEEEEEEEEEEES-probably. MAY be a misdirect but until disproven- OH MY GLOB OH MY GLOB OH MY GLOB!

So I'm reading this Korean manhua called "City of the Dead Sorceror" and I won't call the artwork bad just...insanely geometric.
The character designs are good, but the buildings look WAY too perfect and clean at times.

Finishing up Toradora for the christmas club thread, after that I dont know what to watch from my pile next.

Not new, but DBZ Abridged actually gave me the desire to rewatch the series and actually finally watch the Cell and Buu sagas which I've never actually seen before. That being the case, I've been watching DBZ Kai and it's really good. Unfortunately the Buu saga isn't out on Kai yet, but I may just watch it un-remastered.

Kai got canceled in Japan. It's not getting a re-mastered version.

I was about to rebut this but...no they are making the Buu saga. Heard from somebody it was cancelled and am glad to hear I was wrong. Now I do like the filler arcs from DBZ but the normal arcs...yeah they were HORRIBLY animated. Even for Toei standards.

Future

Initially, there were no plans for Dragon Ball Kai to reach the Majin Buu Saga, until November 2012,[1] with Toriko (another manga adaptation) taking over for Dragon Ball Kai's time slot after episode 97. The 97th episode of the series was broadcast on March 27, 2011 in Japan, and January 1, 2012 in America. The series was in syndication in Japan for exactly two years. Despite this, the series has been one of the top 10 rated anime series every week since syndication began in April 2009. The 98th episode of the series, which recapped the entire series and provided some closure, was released on DVD in Japan.[8][9] On November 6th 2012, Mayumi Tanaka (the Japanese voice of Krillin in the series) posted news on her blog confirming that Dragon Ball Kai will be continuing, as voice work was already under way for the early stages of the Majin Buu story arc. Her post goes on to specify that the series revival is for the overseas market, and as of the time of her post there are no plans to air the new episodes in Dragon Ball's home country of Japan.[1] In April 2013, Sean Schemmel and Kyle Hebert (the Funimation Dub voice actors for Goku and Gohan) confirmed they were recording their lines for the FUNimation Dub of the Buu Saga. In November 2013, when questioned about it on their Facebook page, it was stated by Australian anime distributor Madman Entertainment that the Buu Saga of Dragon Ball Z Kai should be released sometime in 2014, as they are just waiting on dubs to be finished.[10]

So I'm not wrong... it WAS cancelled in Japan. We're just getting more episodes for the overseas market. They may not be getting anything.

so finally started watching Code Geass R2, so I found the first season really hard to watch until the last 6-7 episodes, for some reason season 2 has had me going since the start. who knew? after that I dont know what to start.

So I found out I could watch Attack on Titan for free on Crunchyroll so I checked it out. This show is a perfect example of why I like dubs. The subtitles are so fucking awful it's hard to watch. It doesn't help that some characters seem like they are shouting for the entire series. A good dub would make this immensely better.

That said its a pretty cool show.

Ed: The dialogue is a little excessive as well. There are times when you really don't need a character to give his own exposition, and this show does that repeatedly. Hopefully the writing improves in the next season.

Been watching The Devil Is A Part-timer on Youtube (Funimation put up the subbed one).

Highly recommended. It's like someone took the premise for Bastard! and decided to make it a slice-of-life sitcom instead, and it's hysterically funny!

One of the better shows of that season, I loved it.

Also, if you guys have Netflix, a bunch of stuff is starting to show up. Attack on Titan was just added today, and there's a lot of other great series on there now too. Princess Jellyfish is pretty good, among others. Chobits is a classic.

And if you don't have Netflix, but you have a Roku or Apple TV, then check out Crunchy Roll. Has an absurd amount of anime.

CR also has an app for consoles and mobiles, but I don't know if you can use that for free like some of the other stuff they've got on the website itself.

The console app needs a subscription, but the mobile app does not (it will just have ads and be limited to SD without a sub).

But honestly, if there are lots of anime that you want to watch on Crunchyroll in HD and you'll actually use it, $7/month is a pretty good deal (cheaper if you get multiple months).

I have two 1-month guest passes 48 hour passes (sorry, they were giving out 1-month passes last year, but it appears they don't do that anymore) for the premium service if anyone wants. For clarity's sake, I don't know if they're opt-out (i.e. provide a cc, get charged if you don't cancel) or opt-in. I suspect opt-in since you can sign up for the free service without payment info, but you never know.

If anyone is interested, PM me your preferred email address.

EDIT: Oh, and word to the wise, CR does not have as good QoS as Netflix. So on busy weekends, popular ongoing anime may downscale to SD or lag. It's not an issue for anime that have been out/complete for a while (even though it finished only a few months ago, I watched Gatchaman CROWDS in HD during peak hours without the slightest difficulty), but for anything simulcast that people are actually watching, peak hours can get frustrating.

I started watching K-ON! S2, more adorable high school girls hanging out, drinking tea, eating cake, and playing music. yes please.

Loving Space Dandy, liking part two of Sword Art Online while being annoyed with the fan-service and how Asuna was downgraded from bad-ass swordswoman to damsel in distress. Yes, its cool she doesn't take it lying down and tries to escape but it still annoys the piss out of me. Lets hope Sword Art Online 2(why do second seasons of some shows have titles like that?) will have her kicking ass again.

ALSO-anyone reading Assassination Classroom? Every time I read Korosensei's lines I imagine Lord Death from Soul Eater, I love him!
