What are you playing?

They tend to "go back" in time and explains things the first case or so but honestly, you're doing yourself a huge disservice not playing the first ones.

I'm halfway into the 3rd (casual gaming) and loving it.

So, if I've never played a Phoenix Wright game, can I just jump into Dual Destinies okay or will I be lost?
Yes you will, in terms of in-jokes and the epicness of certain scenes that I will not mention not even in spoilers because they are great in relation to the previous games.

You might end up raging at the really stupid loops you need to take to get to an answer you knew in 5 minutes though. Fair warning.

I was thinking "not sure if I want to pay $60 for 3 DS games" but I see the HD trilogy is available for iDevices for $17. Hopefully iTunes is included in that.

EDIT: Nope. Oh well, I have enough games to play right now.

Man, so firing up Metal Gear Rising after Castlevania Lords of Shadow is like eating a perfectly done prime rib after having McDonalds for lunch. Sure you liked the MacDonalds but it isn't prime rib. MGR is just SO much more polished than LoS.

The combat in MGR is action game nirvana. My only complaint about it would be that it doesn't teach you enough about the different abilities you have. Like that Ben Kuchera guy to this day claims there is no dodge. I've read some complaints about the port (some people are having real issues with it) but for me, so far, it's flawless and running at around a trillion frames per second while looking absolutely gorgeous (all settings maxed).

As soon as I'm done with MGR, I'm moving into DmC.

Metal Gear Rising runs just fine for me on max settings. I'm stuck on the wolf boss right now. I haven't quite mastered the parry mechanics yet.

I'm right there with you, man. Been playing it night after night.

Fuck EXALT.
I've always suspected the AI cheats like hell but now, it's insanely true. I'm playing normal, NORMAL and I can't field enough men. The missions NEVER stop. I can't get progress going and I'm going in missions fighting new mechs and cyberdisks with Majors/Colonels in default weapons because I CAN'T WAIT 22 DAYS to get Light Plasma Rifles (though I have 18!!!! in bank).

The cheats is ridiculous now, in some missions these motherfuckers drop FROM THE SKY ROUND AFTER ROUND and I barely can't even RELOAD. Yes, I've been Save scumming because I had no other choice. This is NORMAL WTF. Also, fuck you whoever said, HEY LET THESE MECHS DROP AND BE IN AUTO OVERWATCH.

Last Dam mission, 5 of them drop down, 4 in OVERWATCH, 2 are Mutants and 2 are Mechs.

Bastards.

It's a fun game but I'm swearing at it like a sailor. Game won't throw me a bone and I got no money to pay for genes, I got 13/16 of Council with Satellites, waiting for more funds to finish the last 3.

I have 22 soldiers, only 1 sniper. 2 heavies. 14 of them are assault.

Game Dev Tycoon is basically "Stay afloat until you get lucky enough to make the best game ever and then you never have to worry again"
I've been really unlucky, cannot make enough good games to keep me afloat. Earlier I just went the route of making nothing but adventure games and have suddenly had a stupid amount of success. Who knew people really wanted to play Romance Adventure games?

Well shit, I thought I was having it rough. The cyberdisks did come WAY too early and I've been struggling to get past the laser phase until today. I haven't had to save scum, but that's likely because I've got a good balance of the five classes. The Sniper made after my wife's image has the ignore height legs and the height advantage eyes and skin, so she's almost unstoppable, but that hasn't saved others.

I never had to abort a mission in Enemy Unknown, but there was one abduction mission, should've been simple, but we got overwhelmed by mechtoids to where I just sent everyone running for the extraction zone. Left my stepsister in her mech for dead. (But it's okay, we got the mech back, just needed repairs.) Also lost my wife's wedding party to the Chryssalid harbor attack and one awesome but insanely difficult new story mission.

Defense of XCOM base, which I was missing from the old XCOM.

I always felt the final mission in EU was a cakewalk, but I have a feeling it's going to be a bit rougher in EW. I've gotten pretty far and still haven't seen the old lumbering mechs from EU yet, the ones with a shit-ton of health and can fire swooping rockets past cover.

That said, there are new weapons and things that help. The mech flamethrower is nice for scattering a cluster, and I abuse the shit out of the mech punch against mechtoids and berserkers. Some of the new toys are good too. I especially love the Foundry research that lets all units have two accessory slots.

Yeah it takes a little practice, but once you do, maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, it's so satisfying. Make you sure you buy the dodge move, anything that can't be parried, the dodge slides you out of the way of (and looks cool as hell).

Was gifted enemy within today as an early birthday present, which is strange since last night I picked up Xcom again for the first time in months because I wanted to play enemy within but haven't had the money for it. So I imagine I'll be playing that tonight.

Holy fuck is the last boss in Metal Gear Rising hard. I regret playing on hard.

Holy fuck is the soundtrack awesome. Seriously. If you listened to most of the music on it's own, you'd probably dismiss it as early 2000 generic numetalish shitty grinding guitar ass rock, but in the game it works. So well.

The boss music is exquisite, the song loops an instrumental version until you reach the final stage of the boss fight, then the vocals kick in, just stupendously done. More games need to steal this.

I'll say it again, Metal Gear Rising is the best action game of the 7th generation. It's better than God of War 3 and spinoff, better than Castlevania, better than Devil May Cry 4, better than Bayonetta. The only one I haven't tried yet is DmC.

Sega, please port Platinum games to PC, Bayonetta deserves a non-shitty version. Vanquish also deserves a non-shitty version.

What I want to be playing is Broken Age Part 1, which just came out today, but the semester just started and I'm already screwed, so I need to focus on school.

Zelda: A Link Between Worlds - I had the freedom to choose any of seven dungeons to begin with, and I happened to choose this game's equivalent of the fucking Water Temple.

Broken Age (Act 1)

I really enjoyed it. It's got a lot of charm, great characters, some clever (though mostly easy) puzzles, and outSTANDing voice work. Definitely well worth the wait.

I wonder how many will figure out early in that (no, seriously; major spoilers here. I don't recommend clicking unless you've played the game or have absolutely no intentions of playing).

Mog Chothra was Shay's "ship" the whole time. As soon as you starting doing the rescue mission and rescuing the little creatures, I had a feeling something was up. The one of them "slipped" away and you couldn't get it? Bingo. Still no idea what it all MEANS and I now must wait until later this year to find out. Great cliff-hanger, though. I expected the game would end with Shay's reveal, but I didn't expect them to suddenly literally switch places.

I didn't realize that they got so many bigger names to do the voices. I started playing on Shay's side and I was, like, "Is that Elijah Wood? Nah, can't be." Turns out it was.

I avoided the backer updates specifically so I wouldn't have ANYTHING spoiled for me.

I picked up Banner Saga. I'm not very far into it, but good lord is it a gorgeous looking game. It's all hand drawn sprites with some of the most fluid animation I've ever seen in a game.

Scribblenauts Unmasked - Is it just me or are these getting worse by the entry? The original game was so wild and free. The simplicity of capturing Starites and the clever puzzles are gone--now it's just stupid scenarios. This game is only different from Unlimited in that DC characters are splattered all over, and it's essentially an over-priced DC universe compendium. I like the DC universe stuff and if more of the game was based on that, it'd be great, but really it's just the same kinds of "challenges" as in Unlimited sprinkled across DC comics-related environments like Oa and Gotham, and amid all the crap you will get a story mission.

I can't believe I even spent $15.

It's weird, I played the hell out of Super Scribblenauts on my DS, but I can't get into Scribblenauts Unlimited.

Infamous 2

I don't know why, but I've felt like playing this for awhile. I'd beaten Infamous 1 twice (once for each moral side) but never played this. So I found a gold collection for the two of them used for $20 today. Decided to skip 1 since I'd played it enough times.

As for 2, I say....eh? It's okay? Feels like I drop WAY too quickly to a couple of bullets and there's very little I can do against more than three enemies at a time. The energy bat is completely fucking useless because of this, too, even though it's supposed to be the game's fancy new feature.

Honestly, I don't know how much of it I'll even bother with. I'm already getting tired and frustrated with it, so might just wind up selling it back sooner than later.

It just has a bland feel to it. The more story they add, the less there is to it.

Has anyone played Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars? Supposed to be decent tactical RPG designed by an XCOM person, but I wanted to get input from anyone here who might have tried it.
