Ah yes, first day at my other job in about a month. Today's the first day working with a new version of the software suite we use.
let's see. Most keyboard commands are broken, there's a bunch of often-used functions that aren't supported anymore, it looks like (and is) a Java applet stuck in Windows Millenium instead of the earlier Win XP look, and while most options are more-or-less the same, the buttons are all in different places and with different icons.
I know I can be a tad conservative sometimes, but this really is change for change's sake. Nothing I do has become easier. Some things have become clearly more cumbersome. And it's mostly null. Except for costing a lot of money and taxing dozens of people with relearning old tools. Excellent.

I thought it was odd that Wyoming of all places wants an aircraft carrier. So I googled it up. Turns out they want it in case they secede.

Also, Russia and China both want Alaska.
And the search results for Texas have changed since that image was made. Now "texas wants nick saban" is tops (Texas also wants it's gold back, but that's #4 and probably related to seceding... either that or it thinks it can buy Nick Saban with it.)

I'm going to give early elementary grades some advice about their Science lessons on Wednesday. Shit. Shit. I'm going to have the undivided attention of a bunch of people who have been doing this way longer than I.
This Science teacher gig was something I didn't expect. Since it was the position that was available, I took it, and I learned as much as I could in a short amount of time. Now everyone comes up and says, "You're a science person! What do you think about ____?" Three years ago, I was the literature and writing person. Now I'm the science person. I'm good at what I do, but it's still weird that people are depending on me.
