[TV] Talk about the last TV you watched, the catchall thread

SO, having watched this new season of Sherlock, I've come to this conclusion. Benedict Cumberbatch (if he Tom Hardy'd up a bit) would be a fantastic choice to play Namor in some Marvel movie. He's handsome, while still being weirdly alien enough looking and can obviously pull off charismatic arrogance to be absolutely perfect for it.

And done Batman: Brave and the Bold...*sigh*. What the hell happened Warner bros animation? It bugs me knowing they made great shows and are now making hardly anything.

I get the feeling it had to do with WB buddying up closer to DC a few years ago. When DC Comics became DC Entertainment. A lot went to shit around that time, like the nu52 DC universe and the Green Lantern movie. My timing might be a little off on the latter, but you get the gist.

He even has the longer face, I could totally see him as Namor. Unfortunately, Namor sort of suffers from lameness by proxy simply by being equatable to Aquaman. It sucks, because I love the hell out of that character. He's kind of like a male Emma Frost.

Yeah, what the hell happened in 2011? Its like all they care about now is the bottom line, and not caring enough to make actual good products. Just a few good Batman things and BAM success. Ironically I feel they are trying to get "Beware the Batman" cancelled with its unnecessarily long hiatus. Which is also a good show, and I like that they are using obscure villains rather than the normal roster.

On to good things, Community was funny tonight as they once again made a gas-leak year reference.

And Parks and Rec was really nice tonight, a good farewell episode.

Now I'm a big Archer fan, but it occurs to me that the preview of this season that aired at the end of the season premiere was better than the actual season so far.

Holy crap! Started watching True Detective. If you are able to watch this show you really should. Both Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey are absolute knocking it out of the park and the show is fantastic.

Definitely. Interestingly, a lot of folks online have been making comparisons to Lovecraft and other such writers with a bleak view of humanity.

Started watching @midnight on Hulu. So hilarious. I watched the episode with Jen Kirkman and Paul F Tompkins... couldn't decide who was funnier.

I just started watching this too! I was wondering why Hardwick hadn't done a Nerdest Bowling on YouTube in a while! Not too shabby, this show :)

Watching Community... wow, great to have the show feeling fresh again! Loved when Annie makes a Leon (The Professional) reference.

Finished episode 7 of Hannibal.

Grocery shopping! :awesome:

My wife and I were just gaping through that whole montage. Each time I think I have Hannibal's character pegged, something else pops up that unravels my perspective, and I'm left to wonder how much of it is really him and how much of it is what he wants to present to the other characters. He's said to have a "person suit", but he may have several.

Also:

"Who gets a spleen?"

Luther

Spotted this on Netflix and saw it starred not only Idris Elba, but also Paul McGann. Sold.

And it's actually quite good. DAMN good performance by Elba, including one incredibly heartbreaking scene that made me tear up a little. I only watched the first episode so far, but I'm really enjoying it.

The rest is REALLY good and gets better with each mini-storyline / arc / series.

Luther is great. There are a couple episodes where I found the crimes silly (computers/technology on television are always just... I mean... agh) but the characters and the tension are solid.

I'd watch a "<blank> goes to the Olympics" episode.
Bones "The Olympian in the Torch"
When someone tries to dispose of a body by burning it in the flame of the Olympic torch during the opening ceremonies, Bones and Booth fly out to Russia to investigate. They Skype call back to the Jeffersonian constantly, including a call just to talk about how glad they are that they have their VISA card, it's everywhere you want to be, and the official sponsor of the Olympic games! While investigating the death, Bones will come across athletes training, and instantly be able to critique their form in a way that even their coaches didn't realize needed help, then Booth will get mad at her for helping another country win, when she's supposed to be rooting for 'Murica! Subplot where intern of the week was once an Olympic hopeful, and their experience being an athlete will somehow help them notice the small piece of evidence that Bones didn't see, to which she'll give them a "good job peon" speech, while sounding like she's made absolutely no progress in manners, because what's character progression?

Spot fucking on. This is incredible and perfectly encapsulates most of the reasons I hated that show.

Gehhd demmit now Archer's off for 3 weeks. Stupid olympics. They're just a corrupt joke with a bad punchline anyway. Doubly so in Russia. Well, maybe no moreso than when they were in China, but still, why does anybody even give a shit any more? The whole machine behind the olympics is disgusting.

Aw HEYALL naw. Last thing we need is for Dallas or Houston traffic to get WORSE for 3 weeks.

Besides, can't have the winter olympics here because snow and ice will constantly melt, and if you have the summer olympics here half the attendees will die of the heat. Athletes included.
