Video Game News and Miscellany

Oh, I doubt thats the case, just that maybe their disc was messed up or something.

Although, now that I think about it, it's possible it's their xbox. I think about how certain people had all kinds of weird issues with Skyrim that other people never did.

He's playing with a mouse and keyboard. I could imagine fucking hating this game if I was playing it that way.

I'm not, so, yay!

I'm not sure what people want for video options for the game. Higher res textures? Bloom lighting?

Even TotalBiscuit, the hardest of the hardcore PC elitists who scoff at anything that runs below 120fps, admitted that 30fps was acceptable for this game given its animation style. That's the framerate of the tv show, and they were matching it.

Double agree.
I stated why the mouse/keyboard just isn't the best option for this game a couple posts back and the video settings? It's a game based on South Park. The show doesn't even have visual settings.

Would you folks playing on PC recommend exclusively using a controller on this one, then?

I'm debating getting this on my laptop so I can travel with it, but I don't always have room to bring a controller on the plane.

Also, while I generally like John Walker's writing (he's one of the few game "journalists" that won't take shit from publishers) he can be a little Charlie-light on the PC (political correctness) front. I hate when people get pick and choosy when it comes to getting offended with South Park. Usually, it's prefaced with something like, "Normally I don't find them offensive BUT" and then they cherry pick something specific as if they've finally gone too far. There's something there for everyone folks. They'll find some way to offend you.

I definitely recommend a controller, but it's not impossible to play with keyboard and mouse.

That's surprisingly apt, considering that many believe Da Vinci painted most of the painting over 3 years and then dabbled at actually finishing it for another 9 years. :p

I dunno, my brother's been playing it with mouse/kb and it doesn't seem to hamper his enjoyment at all.

Stick of Truth downloaded an update today on steam, and ever since I've been getting sound stuttering. The game ran like butter before, I wonder what happened.

Check out the hipster review of Stick of Truth, featuring endless complaining about the lack of hand holding.
It's an RPG. You explore. Derp.

Unrelated news, I got an email about Arkham Knight. The advertising is calling it the end of the Arkham Trilogy, so even the publisher wants to ignore Arkham Origins.

I'd take bets the PC version will look like an uprezzed PS4 or XB1 version.

Ubisoft generally shits on PC ports.
