What are you playing?

Omg, Day Z can be so boring and so hiliarious.
After hours of getting gear for my char I broke my legs on some stairs. Crawled through the city in search for some meds, but to no avail.
Came across a Bambi who only had an axe for a weapon. Knowing that my search was futile I gave him all my stuff and let him shoot me in the head, like a horse, putting me out of my misery.

Is "bambi" slang for a new, helpless player?

I can only imagine the horrified look on the new guy's face as this half-dead man crawls up to him, legs all pulpy, hands over all his Earthly possessions, and then starts muttering "kill me."

I like to imagine Rendar... his eyes wide, glaring shakily up at the Bambi, whose unsteady grip tentatively presses the barrel up against Rendar's forehead... hesitating in the moment. LordRendar snarls, "Do it... DO IT! END THIS!" Then his voice rises in a bellowed scream, which the new guy joins quickly, their voices rising until a gunshot silences everything, save for its own echo repeating from the distance.

Day Z really needs vehicles. Walking takes forever.

Bandit tried to rob me. His M4A1 didnt have a magazine though. Called his bluff, drew my Magnum and killed him. Yey.

Last time I checked, Day Z HAS vehicles... you just need to construct them from parts and find gas for them. I know I've seen guys flying around in helicopters and I've seen a bus in motion before.

Playing
Last of Us. Hands down one of the best narrative games I've ever played. Controls, graphical slowdown, and gameplay aside, it's going to be one that won't take me long to finish.
Hearthstone: Probably about 10-20 games a day.
SW:TOR: Going to try... again.... to complete at least one character story.

Games I have installed and dabbled with but haven't really dedicated time to:
Metro 2033: Hate the way this game runs. I have a very powerful gaming PC and while I get very high FPS (60-120s) the dips are what kills it for me. Everytime it goes from 80 to 60 then to 95 to 70 it just chugs the game. Very hard for me to look past this.
Starbound: I loved Terraria but for some reason I just can't get into this. I have nothing negative to say about it but I just can't get into it.
Shadowrun Returns - Finally got this with the DLC and tried playing it. I was not expecting this type of gameplay. It's... strange. The biggest turn-off is the complete lack of any tutorial or explanation of anything. I'm sure some people like to be thrown into the deep end of the pool minute 1 but I'm not one of them.
Torchlight 2: Cannot seem to get myself to finish this game, I got about 1/4th through and just dropped it. It's sitting there, asking me what it did wrong, and I can't even say it did anything wrong. It's just not drawing me in.
Elder Scrolls Online: Not even sure why I'm bothering but I'm going to give it one more shot this beta weekend (starting tomorrow) and see what happens.

You're a stronger man than I. I tried giving it another try, got a little into it, said "This isn't so bad, it's actually pretty f-" And then ran headfirst into the paywall. It wanted me to pay to use my collector's edition equipment, it wanted me to pay to display my founder title, it wanted me to pay for extra hotkeys, it wanted me to pay to equip a purple item I found... yeah, fuck you.

Still playing a metric crapton of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. I'm close to unlocking the Monk class for my pugilist and have also started working on a healer on a separate character.

I'm....honestly, I knew they were being money grubbing idiots with their payments plans/methods, but....You already payed for that. By buying a CE. I mean, it'd probably stand up in court because it's in a game, but that's technically illegal in many a country (demanding payment for access to a service and for the service itself).
It's also moronic - anyone who bought the CE is a fan, and these are the people they should be seriously hoping will stick around. These are the people you want to give incentive to ever buy from you again - preferably again a CE. Idiots, idiots, idiots.

Yeah TOR really went full retard on the Freemium. It's honestly just about unplayable without paying for some stuff, especially only having one hotbar.

-shrug-
I'm a paying subscriber whenever I play it, since I never payed for the actual game itself, I have no issues with paying $15 to play for a month with everything unrestricted.

Bought the digital deluxe edition of the game. Played until they merged the servers and announced it was going free to play. You want me back? Give me all the shit I already paid for. I'll gladly pay for the new content but I sure as fuck aren't paying for basic functionality of a game I already gave you hundreds of dollars for.

This is what bothers me the most about it. I preordered the game, played the beta, and subbed for about 6 months consistently. Why do I still have to drop like 30 bucks just to make the game playable again?

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate: Fighting Lagiacrus with your wife is fun. She slashes its tail off, you break its chest and back, we chase it up on the shore, and capture it to be cut apart later.

Fighting to capture it alone ... fucking sucks and I hate this fucking thing. Now I'm doing a bunch of other shit so I can make a new weapon. I probably won't even get around to fighting it again today.

Monster Hunter 3 got boring for me really, really fast. It started out strong, had lots of cool weapons, tracking monsters to build new shit, and then it just turned into a grind of same ol' same ol'

A lot of the game is what I enjoy, stalking them through the terrains, figuring out their tactics, hunting them down. It took a while to get into it, and I'm probably into it more than I would be thanks to my wife enjoying it too.

But then there's the other part of the game where you don't have the materials you want, so you have to grind the same monster again and again until it eventually drops a piece of plate or something, and that can get tedious. It's where I'm glad I have the Wii U version to transfer my 3DS character into--joining a group to grind that stuff makes it go faster and even if it takes a while to get the item, the zenny comes rolling in since with a group, each person tends to use less items than they would alone.

As for South Park, just reached Canada last night. Holy. Shit. The laughter sent me into a coughing fit. This game is so great.

More FFXIV, been working on a Dragoon, found a pretty decent Free Company and have been having a lot of fun. Ignore the ugly shadows, my comp is middle of the road and doesn't much care for nice, pretty ones without killing my frame rate. :(

Played a full game of TMNT Turtles in Time on hard mode with my buddy, twas a good day. Hardest part was the first Shredder battle where you have to throw the foot-bots at him, but they were all those red ones with the guards that you couldn't touch! Also sky enemies, but that was hard to begin with.

Also played Tournament fighter for the Super Nintendo, and discovered it only had THREE cheap characters out of ten. And yes, one of them is Donatello.

Neon Night Riders is still my favorite level.

Finished South Park. I missed a few side quests, but I'll pick them up next time I play. It was worth paying full price; I had a lot of fun and a lot of laughs.

Is there anything new that opens up post-game or are you just able to play to finish up side quests and such?

Just finish up side quests. Hopefully a platform to dlcs later.

Ah, I see. He doesn't row.

Once I reeled my mind back in, I started Borderlands, but that might have been a mistake. My favorite games are strong, narrative-driven, one player games. I'm only just starting (maybe an hour in), but I'm immediately prejudiced due to Bioshock Infinite basically being exactly what I want from a game. Hopefully I'll get more engaged once I'm into a bit more.

Granted, I haven't played the first (although I hear it's great), but I loved Bioshock (all of them) but I've played more Borderlands 2 than… almost any game ever.

Because it's so damn fun.

I actually bought the season pass and I'm about done with my second play through. I never do second play throughs. And I'm going to do another one on Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode.

So I dunno, give it a chance? If you only care about a deep story then yeah, they probably aren't going to do it for you, but for me it's the perfect game to de-stress too.

Borderlands? Oh you mean the two games where I did entire playthroughs with every single character?

Yeah that game's pretty alright ;)

I think I just moved on too fast, and the shift in tone was unsettling. I came off of an epic, 80-hour plus playthrough of Fallout 3 just prior to Infinite, so this felt just a twinge too familiar (tiny quests, focus on shooting randomly appearing but ultimately meaningless things in the head repeatedly), but I'm sure once I get a bit more into it, I'll enjoy it. I hope so anyway: I got this and the GOTY Borderlands 2 with all the DLC to follow up with.
