[Movies] The Upcoming Movies Trailer Thread

I dunno, I kind of like the look of the turtles. I like that they come off more as monsters until you get a feel for their humanity, that makes a little more sense I suppose. Personally I've always preferred the original look (more streamlined and all red cloth) but I think the "look" of the turtles, just like with varying artists interpretation, can change and not lose anything.

It's odd. The turtles themselves didn't bother me as much as I expected. Even though he looks ridiculous I felt Michelangelo's personality was just right based on what little I saw. That gives me hope the others will be similar. One thing that got me really annoyed with Transformers after the second one was how Bay decided Optimus Prime had to be all "give me your FACE!" like a god damn serial killer. I don't even want to get into the stuff he did in the third movie.

What bothered me the most was all the general "bay-isms" that filled the trailer, like the fast then slow shots, the oddly violent opening (following the Nickelodeon logo, for extra awkward factor), over emphasis on the hot girl, and EXPLOSIONS! It just felt like I was watching another trailer for Transformers, even down to the music having that "deeeooooooooooooo" sound effect whenever something happens like any minute Bumblebee is going to show up.

Scarlett Johansson in Lucy:

I am so torn about this. On one hand, Ms Johansson kicking ass appeals to me, on the other hand, the premise of "we only use 10% of our brains" is so monumentally stupid...

WOOOOOOOOOOOOW, a story where a person gains superpowers after a drug usage! I have never seen that befoo-ONEPIECE,AKIRA,BATMAN,ANIMALMAN-re.

And that is insanely idiotic, as that "10%" thing was disproven years ago.

Besides, Limitless was already a good take on the "protagonist takes drug which charges 100% of the brain" idea.
I disagree. I had the same problem with Limitless that I did with World's Greatest Dad. It was a good concept, but the writers weren't capable of writing it. With Limitless, they weren't able to portray just how smart he was supposed to be very well. With World's Greatest Dad, whenever they read the supposed brilliant writing, it always came across as lame, sappy bullshit that could never possibly move so many people emotionally the way the movie portrayed it.

The writers weren't smart enough to write characters smarter than every one else.

I can't believe you forgot Snowflame.
Ah, but who is an antagonist of in the fan-comic? BATMAN! Though that's non-canon and I'm clearly making up an excuse as I'm typing this response. SELF DEPRECIATION!

Yeah and that was only like three years ago too, whats wrong wit you Bessy?

Lucy looks like a monumentally dumb movie, it's going to be terrible, and Scarlett Johansson looks like a pretty egregious miscasting.

Nonetheless, I will probably go see it, because it was filmed in Taipei.

Haven't seen this trailer posted yet, but I like the look of the Annie remake:

Got to say, the only role that seems wrong is Cameron Diaz for Miss Hanagan, but that could just be because I can't imagine anyone other than Carol Burnett in that role, and Cameron Diaz and Carol Burnett couldn't be perceived much differently.

The only way I can ever handle these things, because I hate that plot device, is just to assume it's some alternate reality. Maybe the rebuilt society post-Idiocracy or something. I don't know.

Because seriously

Seriously.

Yet you're willing to give Twilight the benefit of a doubt?
Yes, because Twilight's a bigger cultural phenomenon. My interest toward Twilight is more of a "let's see what the fuss is about" thing.

If Lucy becomes a huge talking point about how utterly terrible it is, then I might want to see it out of the same curiosity. But, as things stand, the two feelings are quite different.

Um...lots of CGI and slow-mo fights? Pass. God damn I hate the effect that shitty 300 movie had on these types of films. They all seem so "samey".

Bizarre, most trailers give away ALL the plot. This one gave away almost none at all! In fact, I'm generally confused by what is going on! Like the cut to the guy carrying the lady in the dress, who was said lady? Quite bizarre indeed.

The fact that it's an indie film, and that the trailer was done with only 3 days of filming, intrigues me.
That explains why some of the pacing f the clips in the trailer felt so off. They probably didn't have a ton of footage to work with and for timing gaps just had to throw things in.

As someone who has to deal with drunk and/or belligerent assholes on a near-nightly basis, fuck you, Seth Rogen. Fuck Neighbors. Fuck everyone involved with it. Vandalism, harassment, and felonious assault are fucking funny, now?

I'm just going throw this out there, but your anger *might* be misdirected.

I was in an unrelated bad mood last night, but I've seen first hand the results of frat hi jinks gone horribly, horribly wrong. Lifelong debilitating injuries. Innocent bystanders killed. The movie may be exaggerated, but it's the kind of bullshit I have to deal with nearly every weekend, with no help from anyone else.

So no. No tolerance for drunk and stupid. Not when I'm the one on the hook for the damages.

Oh, I get it but I just want to stop a potential fist through the screen when you see "Revenge of the Nerds" or any comedy produced in the last 30 years pop up in your "Netflix Suggests" list.

Hey, now. Revenge of the Nerds was funny. At least until the tumblr Charlies started tearing it apart the last year or so. :p

I remember vacationing with my family in South Texas, back in the 70's and watching Lupin the 3rd in Spanish.

Then when it hit Adult Swim a decade ago I really flipped out that I remembered a lot of the animation.
