Difference being that The Simpsons and 30 Rock are/were successful shows, while Community has been floundering since the start.
They had the luxury to do that shit since they had Emmy's and Ratings, two things that Community have never gotten anywhere close to
I think everyone knew that was coming because they weren't really trying to hide it, considering the ice fishing scene a few episodes again.

I cannot wait for Will to kill him right before he's about to kill Hannibal to trick Hannibal into thinking he's still on his side. Just a guess though. This spoiler is merely preemptive in the case this actually happens of course.
I don't think you needed to spoiler that; I'm 99% certain that's not how it's going to go down. They're not introducing these characters to blow them this season, and we've seen a certain event that's going to happen, beginning of episode 1.
As for Verger, I thought that scene with the kid in the stable was going to go a lot ... uglier.

Yeah, it was sort of annoying, though, they played it as a DUN DUN Freddie Lounds is alive! But at the same time, the foreshadowing was pretty clear. It was like they couldn't decide if they wanted the audience to be in on the conspiracy or shocked by it.
I guess, though elsewhere online I saw people who were totally buying what Will was selling to Hannibal, so maybe they had to do some of it that way. On another note, I'm wondering ...

It seems unlikely, but we've had other situations where the audience believes a character is dead, but they never outright say it or show a body, and then the character is alive, so ... until they make it absolutely clear, I'm not pegging anything as definite.

Jesse has a very powerful character arc. You'll eventually want to hug him.

All that bitching said, Walt doesn't give Jesse credit when on the rare occasion that it's due. I'm not surprised he has a hard time communicating with his son*. He's been a teacher for so long that he has trouble not being critical.

The scene where they practiced driving particularly irked me. He's getting after him for using both feet on the pedals--the kid has cerebral palsy! His legs don't fucking work right. My brother had cerebral palsy and he couldn't even walk or talk. I was totally on the kid's side during the season 1 intervention when calling his dad out after all the shit the kid has to deal with.
