[Rant] Minor Rant III: For a Few Hollers More

I don't think it's a puppy being crate trained unless the crate is kept outside. I've heard the same dog off and on for a few months, actually, but it is worse now that my choices are to leave the window open and lose sleep due to barking/howling or close the window and lose sleep while sweating buckets.

Sometimes I feel like I enjoy learning to code more than making artwork and wonder if I'm pursuing the wrong major. Especially when I glance at the average income difference between programmers and artists.

I love writing, but I'm good at coding. I chose the latter based on the ability to support a family, and I don't regret it. I can write as a hobby, even if no one reads it, and still get paid mad cash.

My $.02.

I have a mosquito bite. Right where the X is.

It's driving. Me. Mad. Walking feels like scratching it... but you know how when you STOP scratching the itch comes back worse?

Gah that is the worst.

I just found out about a musical spoofing 50 Shades of Grey that's showing in Austin, and I can't go because of teacher meetings. Boooooooo... Well at least I still get to see Eddie Izzard. ^_^

Run hot water over a spoon and apply to mosquito bite (doesn't need to be super hot). Repeat several times. The heat supposedly helps break down the proteins that cause the itching.

Alternatively, you could buy one of these.
Most of those solutions only work within a few minutes of being bitten, I find. After that, it's a waiting game, or topical anti-itch stuff.

So, my birthday present to myself was a Chargriller Wrangler 640 cubic inch smoker, with optional side fire box. Got it today. And, I can't keep it. Even though the lease doesn't stipulate that charcoal/wood burning BBQ devices cannot be used (in fact, it has restrictions and rules as to where they must be placed, but specifically does say that they can be used), apparently the property owner came through 2 - 3 months back, freaked out because they saw a bunch of non-propane or electric grills/BBQs, and told the management company that they had to send letters to everyone who owned one and tell them they couldn't use it anymore. The property management company did not, however, send a letter to all tenants informing them of this, or else I wouldn't have spent $300 on something that I now have to return. At least Amazon allows returns. Probably still going to tell the property management company that they owe me a rent credit in the amount that I don't get back from the return, though.

Remember this episode if they ever try to hold you to your lease.[DOUBLEPOST=1400805353,1400805301][/DOUBLEPOST]And get the order to comply to something not in your lease in writing.

Watch out if it's a city ordinance/state law, though. After we had a rash of patio grill fires here in WI, pretty much every municipality that has apartment complexes have rules prohibiting grills within X amount of yards of the building. If that's the case, they can trump your request by saying "your lease says no illegal activities."

Nothing to worry about on that end of things, just some piss poor decision making by the property owner and management company. But I'm not going to let them ruin my fun. If I can't have a wood-fired smoker, I'll get the money from the returns of this one, and buy an electric smoker.

Click the little button on the bottom right for settings. Turn notifications to 'off'. No more annoying popups. You have to do it every time, though.

I hate how there seems to be zero consistency in labeling tofu between brands. I asked my mom to pick me up some silken tofu while she was at Whole Foods, because I've only been able to find firm tofu at the 2 grocery stores closest to me. What she came back with is labeled "silken" but is a pressed, firm, type of tofu. I have no idea if it will work in the mousse I want to make.

I think I'm starting to get burned out at my job. I'm having trouble concentrating at work, my work quality has suffered and client complaints have increased, and I honestly dread heading to the office each day.

And this sucks, because honestly I have a pretty good job. I can do it, and do it well; virtually no one in Taiwan can match my level of quality when I'm on my game. The pay's pretty danged good, around 50% higher than the average for people of my qualifications. And I honestly enjoyed it a whole bunch when I first started here, nearly two years ago.

I wish I could find that spark again.

There's a spring cold/flu thing going around and I have it. This would normally be a whine instead of a rant, but we have a major software launch coming up at work on 7/1 and all of us lucky salaried employees are working mandatory 60+ hour weeks starting yesterday, so this is the worst possible time to get sick.

Ugh so I was stoked to get my 4 sets of PAX Prime passes, but another friend who didn't get passes is now blaming me over the whole thing. -_-... I told him to stop blaming me for shit (on-going battle, long-ass story) and accept that he could have done more himself to ensure that he would get passes on time. He's just accusing me of hating him and liking my "much cooler and fun friends more" and only caring if they're there over him. !@!#&$!^@#*(

That's not the way a "friend" acts. I think you may just have a "pain in the ass" on your hands.

Yep. He was an amazing friend in high school, then went a little crazy, and he's 50/50 now. Either crazy, depressed, lonely, paranoid, or normal and happy. Extremely bi-polar. However, I'm his "best friend" and he depends on me far too much, and hates that I don't depend on him.
I'm afraid he'll quite literally kill himself if I say goodbye for good. Not even kidding. It's all super complicated, but it doesn't have to be.

I feel like someone else on the forum was in an eerily similar situation and pulled the plug, but I can't remember who. Maybe if they see this, they'll have some firsthand advice.
