What are you playing?

Also, I'm playing Shovel Knight. It's fucking wonderful so far.
Curse you, backers, for funding the game and making its existence possible and waiting through the delays and receiving it very slightly early which you deserve!

... well, I am getting out of work early, so I'll be playing it by the afternoon on my 3DS. Until then I'll just have to stare at the Coming Soon label on its eshop section.

I am finally going to start the Dragonborn DLC on Skyrim tonight. I think we've owned it for over a year, just hadn't gotten around to it. But I loaded up my only character who's beaten Alduin, so a lot of the shit that's going on is hilarious.

Cultist: "You just wait until the REAL Dragonborn shows up!"
Me: "Bitch, I already did what the Dragonborn was supposed to do, so you tell your REAL Dragonborn that he's REAL slow and the job is fucking done."

Can't wait to go to their island and kick the shit out of these johnny-come-latelies.

Mirak's going to give you another reason to kick his ass to hell and back soon.

Terraria's an odd duck. It's like... console minecraft with more of an emphasis on combat and items rather than creative expression.
I used to think that too, but even with the game being in 2D people have made some ridiculous bases. I put a good 80+ hours into the game and can't even imagine how long some of these took, as it's not usually done with no gravity/flying modes like most MC projects seem to be.

The thing about Terraria that really makes it feel like Minecraft is the beginning of the game. You'll almost definitely have to wiki how to make early things to get yourself started (furnace, forge, bed, etc) and then it's a matter of getting a crude shelter up or going deep enough that the night monsters won't be an issue. It's a fun game, but you do have to enjoy the Minecraft style of gameplay to get anything out of it, really.[DOUBLEPOST=1403798843,1403798673][/DOUBLEPOST]
Shovel Knight is the best game of 2014 so far.
It unlocks in 2 hours on Steam, and I can't wait.

After the surprising sleeper hit of Euro Truck Driver Simulator, I never judge anything that ends in "simulator" any more. I mean.. GOAT SIMULATOR?
Yeah, but some of these simulator games are really hard to fathom. I mean, there's Car Mechanic Simulator, Woodcutter Simulator, Towtruck Simulator, Warehouse and Logistics Simulator, Corporate Lifestyle Simulator, and Mining & Tunneling Simulator. (I did not make any of these up, I found them on Steam by searching for the word "simulator")

Forcing myself to stop playing Shovel Knight so I can go get something to eat. Holy shit this game is fun. Just like the golden age of Capcom NES platformers.

Goddamn... don't play Beat Hazard if you have epilepsy. I don't, but I still feel like my eyes are fatigued.

Fun game, though.

Shovel Knight is one of the best NES games I've ever played. The game is just freakin' fun. You're on a SMB3 style map, facing eight evilRobot Mas...er...Knights, stocking up in a Zelda 2 style town, and fightin' like Scrooge McDuck.

Also, The Order of No Quarter? Damn, I wish I thought of that name.

Wish I'd been playing Shovel Knight for the last hour ...

Transit this morning and afternoon didn't work out in my favor. I got a sermon on the back of the last bus home, though this is the first time I've heard other people join in with the guy. I'm happy for him; most of the people hollering on the back of the bus don't get spoken to by anyone--that the rest of us can hear, anyway. So I let his good mood become my good mood and decided not to be bitter about getting home later than I wanted; at least I'm off that bus and home.

Downloading now.

Of course, as with any NES platformer, prepare for a heavy dose of OH COME ON I MADE THAT JUMP and STUPID ABILITY WORK LIKE YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO COME ON.

Goddamned Dust Knuckles.

$15? On second thought, I'll wait for a sale.

Steam has made me so cheap.
It's worth $15, but if you just loaded down on new games, it's understandable.

Someone online said Shovel Knight has slippery feet a la Mario games of today ... no. I don't know where they get that from, unless their joystick is stuck.

Yeah, it's nonsense unless you buy the momentum armor.

Well, I'm probably not going to buy that then. I like having control; it's one of the things I was so impressed with by Mega Man after years of Mario buttering the soles of his boots.

Also, yay for getting a music sheet that plays the music of the place where you can play music. :p

Ok, so seriously, if anyone here doesn't think they'd like Metal Gear Rising, just watch this boss fight (it's the first one in the game, and serves as sort of a concealed tutorial) and tell me it's not awesome.

If it goes on sale again, it's definitely worth it.

Yeah I think it's got some of the better controls of games I've played lately. Momentum armor is nice in that it cancels knockbacks, but if you take it into one of the platform-heavy stages (like the gem levels) you're gonna have a bad time.[DOUBLEPOST=1403826977,1403826895][/DOUBLEPOST]

This game's worth $15 easy. Hell, I'd have been okay paying 20.

Yeah, I had anticipated 20 before and was fine with it.

This game is like if Kratos and Bayonetta had a baby and... I'm going to stop right there because I don't want to picture that.
Picturing the baby shouldn't be all that hard. I'm just not sure I'd want to watch it being made. It sounds ... violent. Even more violent than Brock Samson + Molotov Cocktease would be, if your scale even goes that high.

Count me on the Shovel Knight bandwagon. I got it for Wii U today and it plays like they studied the best games of the NES and combined them in a fine mixture. Great platforming, great music, fun all around.

I also got the 20th anniversary edition of Another World. I can definitely see why it is still well-regarded. It's really cinematic and tells its story well without needing to give dialogue or exposition, in addition to having good gameplay. It's also hard as balls.

Did you beat it yet? The last boss is hella hard.

I've been playing Lego The Hobbit. I'm glad to see they returned to form after the godawful Clone Wars game. If you liked Lego Lord of the Rings, you're going to like The Hobbit.

I have to say, though, it's hilarious when they do the scene with the trolls and the scene in Smaug's lair (am I the only one who hates that they pronounce the emphasis on the U in the movies, btw). You're supposed to be sneaking around, but, y'know, it's a lego game, so you're wrecking all the things. Struck me as funny.
