What are you playing?

It's not a huge game, I'm on the last area now, but the stage secrets and such will pad it out (and there's a New Game+).

But don't worry, the last boss is FUCKING BULLSHIT OH MY GOD I HATE EVERYTHING so you'll spend some time on that, at least.

Oh good, Donkey Kong Country Returns syndrome. I think I was up until 1:30 in the morning fighting that one, refusing to go to bed until I beat it.

I guess there will be updates too, like the other playable knights, gender swap, battle mode.

I've been playing more of Shovel Knight. God, this game is awesome. Go buy it. Seriously, buy it for the Troupple King.

Thanks to a tip from Jay, I got my hands on a copy of Artificial Academy 2 last night. So, this weekend I'll be installing, patching, modding and learning it.. and maybe soon after that, Halforums Academy 2 shall begin character casting.

I had to quit the game after a good 30 minutes of attempts. I'll pick it up again later today, maybe, try again.

I just beat it. The first form is like 1000 times harder than the second.

I must have been doing something wrong on the second form,
for whatever reason 9 out of 10 jumps from the shield I wouldn't be close enough to do damage. I pogo'd the shield, swung, and whiffed it almost every time.

Pogo off the shield twice. If you're wearing the armor that grants you a power swing after two pogos it makes it even easier.

How many Knight levels are there? Just eight?
Yeah, there's 8 Knight levels, a few bonus stages and bosses and 3 boss stages.

Yeah, though I kind of get this momentum when going through the really tough stages and just hope there's no reason to pause coming up while I'm clearing the place.
It'd really only be an issue if my bus was about to reach the bus stop outside work. There are just some 3DS games that don't lend themselves to that kind of situation (Luigi's Mansion 2, Monster Hunter 3).

A guy in the Armor place will trade 100 gold for 1 3DS playcoin.

This is game-breaking. I had almost 300 coins this morning.

EDIT: Game-breaking is a stretch, but still, it can be abused.

Okay. I have started the PC version of Skyrim.

...

I liked the console version better. Sure, the scenery is somewhat prettier (though given the distance I sit from my TV when playing the PS3, who cares?) and there's a bit more dialogue. Also the load times are shorter. But, the mechanics were better to me on the PS3. Especially lockpicking. I miss the rumble feedback, like a lot. In both combat and lockpicking. I know I can get a controller and have a similar experience, but I'm talking out of the box comparison here. For the record, I do have the hi-res texture pack. I also have everything set to ultra super maximum high deluxe with a cherry on top.

It's like you want that meme to keep going...

Sorry my opinion doesn't conform.
Well, it's often enough that the way you learn something is the way you like something. I admit some tactile feedback in the lockpicking would be nice, but really once you break a few hundred picks and your skill gets up there, it won't matter as much.. and they're not hard to come by.

If your machine can handle it, there are some other mods which can even further beautify skyrim on PC... such as Grass Field, HD normalmaps/HD teeth, improved high detail map mods, innumerable follower overhauls that make them more helpful, to say nothing of the countless body mods and armor packs.

Why don't you have a gamepad for your PC? I've had an Xbox 360 pad for mine for over 7 years now. It's fantastic and there are a lot of games I wouldn't play without one. From my point of view you might as well complain about a console lacking graphics because a TV doesn't come in the box.

That said, I also sorely miss my iFeel Mouseman, even after a decade or so. Tactile feedback in a mouse was flipping fantastic, and I wish it had caught on.

I don't understand how people can play Skyrim with a gamepad. It feels so wrong... no hotkeys... no mouse control...
In my opinion, I can't understand how anyone can stand ANY first person games on console. There's just no substitute for a mouse in first person shooters/rpgs/whatever. But, some people just like what they like.

First person? No... I'm ok with a controller in third person shooters though. I could probably go either way on those.

Man, the last two stage sets of Battleblock Theater are punishing as hell. However it's all worth it to watch the cutscenes, I wish Stamper could narrate every game I play.

Y'know, it's weird, I bought the Saints Row games, the Mass Effect games, and Bioshock Infinity this Steam sale, and I also have a ton of other games in my backlog... but for some reason, I keep going back to Skyrim. I honestly can't tell you why Skyrim's so much fun.

For example, here's me and a modded companion starting a murder spree in Riverwood. (spoilered for size)

I don't think you'd need to explain that to anyone (except maybe Fade :p). It's Skyrim; we've all played it, we know why it's fun.
