Eh. Fubbing (Phubbing? I dunno, I heard it as a dutch word first
) is annoying as all hell, and people seem to feel entitled to it. They "need" this and that, and so on.
OI have a smart phone. I have never, once, used it when I was near the front of a waiting line, so that I'd never be busy when my turn was up. I've never used it in a restaurant for anything but looking up a translation of a menu item (sorry, Italian restaurants that only give out menus in Italian - I like to make sure it's not a liver-and-kidney pizza I'm ordering). If I'm going out in a way I might want to take pictures, I'll take my camera. Better picture, easier and faster to take, so not as much redoing.
It really doesn't seem to be a phase. Some people just seem oblivious to everybody else being also, you know, people. Obviously it's a phase for some, but I know far too many people who just won't stop it - and yes, sorry ,I do cut them out of my circle of friends if it's too bad. Getting together with a friend for the first time in 6 months to have them spend more time with their phone than with me? Acceptable if there's family in surgery, or it's the first time they're away from their newborn, or something like that. Not if it's just checking up, keeping up, chatting, mailing,....If I'm not worth your time, you're not worth mine. We'll stay in touch on Facebook or something, thanks.
