What are you playing?

Well, talking to one of my Space Pirate buddies, he made a few suggestions about my robot design, and I tried again.

Today, I am somebody else's bullshit.

I'm less worried about the glass cannon monstrosities (after all, they die pretty fast) than I am the aerofoil BS that somehow manage to fly a mile straight up and then rain destruction down on everyone with complete impunity.

That, and how every block and tech upgrade can be bought with real cash.
The aero foil guys die pretty damn fast. I almost never see them effective. I run SMG so I just spray them out of the sky. Usually you only need to get one or two quality hits before they are combat in effective.[DOUBLEPOST=1406780075,1406779820][/DOUBLEPOST]New design kicks ass man. Also...bloodhound gang. I have that album somewhere. It says to put your pinkie through the center and you get a boob. Hooray for boobies.

I saw another guy today on my team (I observed him after I died) whose robot was shaped like an upside down toadstool (as in, mushroom, but flat) consisted of about 26 helium tanks, 4 aerofoils, 6 thrusters, two electroplate shields, and some plasma cannons. He literally hovered 100 meters in the air bombarding suckers on the ground. The SMGers did try to shoot him some, but the fire is inaccurate at that distance, and the few stray hits were absorbed by the electroplating on the underside.[DOUBLEPOST=1406780332,1406780121][/DOUBLEPOST]
New design kicks ass man.
That was pretty stompariffic, wasn't it? But if you look closely at the beginning of the video, you'll see that the majority of other vehicles in the match were T1, and I (and one other guy on my team) was T3. I had no business being in that match.. hence... somebody else's bullshit. But when I play with my own level dudes, at least now I don't feel like I'm getting one-shotted like I was a lot last night. I still get blown up sometimes, and railguns still bash through electroplate in 1 shot, but I'm noticeably more survivable.

Also...bloodhound gang. I have that album somewhere. It says to put your pinkie through the center and you get a boob. Hooray for boobies.
Hell yes. My favorite BHG album. I knew I had to use that song for this video when I decided I'd upload it. Worth it, even if it now means my video is blocked in some countries (and it is, I got the notification instantly after upload processing).

Fire Emblem: Awakening. I started on Hard difficulty/Classic Mode. Why is this gaming kicking my ass? Do both paired characters get XP or just the non-support?

Great... I'm about five hours into my latest modded playthrough of Skyrim, and one of the mods is showing a slightly annoying bug. Quick googling tells me it's caused by save game corruption, and can't be fixed without either loading an earlier save (which I don't have) or restarting the game.

So now I'm wondering just how much this minor bug is going to annoy me, and whether it's worth it to restart. Five hours might not sound like a lot, but I did spend quite a bit of time during chargen to get my character looking just right. But if I decide to just live with the bug continue playing, I think it's going to annoy me more and more as I play, but with more time invested into the character I'll want to restart even less....

I just can't stop playing Heroes of the Storm.

I'm not looking forward to the Alpha wipe when I lose all my character levels and have to start over from scratch.

So without realizing it, I've accumulated a stable of 37 cars in Gran Turismo 4.

Dude, don't you know the rules if Bethesda games? You save in a new slot every time. Every. Time.

Fire Emblem: Awakening. I started on Hard difficulty/Classic Mode. Why is this gaming kicking my ass? Do both paired characters get XP or just the non-support?
The first four battles are brutal when you're first getting started. You want to try luring the enemies based on their farthest attack range, so you can handle them in small numbers.

Only characters who participate get XP; so if only the primary character fights, only s/he gets XP, whereas if the support character jumps in to assist, they will get XP too (albeit less).

For the first few battles, abuse Frederick. Let him lure enemies around while the weaker characters pick at the stragglers. Though it says he starts at level 1, he's actually level 1 of an advanced class, whereas everyone else is on various levels of basic classes. When they hit level 10 or higher, you can use a Master Seal to bump them up to an advanced class. They'll start at level 1, but keep all their old stats (and gain some).

Yeah Fred is crazy OP for the first part of the game, he almost always takes either no damage at all or like 1-2 points, and generally slams enemies in one or two strikes (just be careful he doesn't suck up all the kill xp).

This. Nothing makes Classic harder than having one mega-powered character later who must safeguard a bunch of wimps.

Yeah, every Fire Emblem has the team start with a character like this. The idea is they exist to help keep the team alive during the early formative levels, before fading in effectiveness later on. However, it's possible to completely remake Freddie thanks to one of the items and level him into something more appropriate and powerful later on, getting rid of this weakness.

I know that restarting the level when people get knocked off kind of defeats the purpose of classic mode (I only let "im hidden" guy die off) but its helped me develop flawless strats for each map. I'm on Chp 6 now and getting the hang of it. Game was well worth the price so far.

This is something a lot of people don't realize. What do you think Frederick is more effective as?

My first run was "nobody dies". I had to make a couple exceptions, but overall it makes the maps a nice challenge. On a later playthrough I tried just letting the chips fall where they did, and I thought this would make things feel unique, but instead it just gets boring as you end up forced to take certain people when others die. Doing another "nobody dies" run at the moment.

Though I really should take a break from Fire Emblem to play Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars ... it's really difficult to stop.

I mostly worry about the kids, so with Frederick I marry him to Panne to give Yarne wyvren-rider class access (for Lancebreaker). After that, I like Frederick as Dread Fighter.

Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars: If I had played this game in 2011 when it was released, I would've made fun of it for having the Russians as the villains. Now the only thing unrealistic about the plot is that the U.N. has a covert ops team to handle the situation ... or you know, do anything.

Also, the evil Russians don't use vocative commas. That's enough to motive for me to take them down.

The gameplay is good though. Not quite XCOM: Enemy Unknown, but fun. Now if that game ever came out for the Vita, that would be tempting. Touch screen + not having my wife go "I'm tired of watching you get our friends and family killed by aliens" would be a huge selling point.

...If I had this game, and this was my car, I think I'd be using it exclusively.

I think it'd be the RX-7 for me. It's one of those cars I've thought would be a blast to drive, even though I've never been in one.

The RX-7 has been my workhorse for most of the game. I've tuned it up to 530+ horsepower, custom everything, wing on the back for increased downforce. The only track I have trouble with on it is the Suzuka Circuit in the Japanese Championship. However, since it's the last race in the championship, I usually have 40 points and 2nd place has 24, so even if I finish dead last, I still take the championship. Doing the Japanese Championship earns about 30,000 in win money, 35,000 for taking the championship, and a NISMO race car that can be sold for 312k. So about 375k for 30 minutes of play.

Since that previous list, I sold the shitty Nissans (not the Z car), the Honda Van, and the 86 Celica. I also acquired the Cadillac CIEN (a monster concept car starting at 760 HP but mod-able to over 970), a Camaro LM Car, and the Ford GT '05. I also won the Chevelle 454 SS but it was an ugly green so I sold it, it was easy to win with the Ford GT so I'll see if I get a better color this time.

I look forward to doing up the Super Bird. Just looking at it makes me hear Nazareth's Hair of the Dog in my head.

The Ford GT '05 drives as good as it looks. And it looks fantastic. I got it in Mark IV Red. Fully spec'd, it is cartoonishly quick.

Well, it is one of the more entertaining Top Gear episodes.

I want to like this show, but Jeremy Clarkson is just so insufferably full of himself...[DOUBLEPOST=1407032584,1407032431][/DOUBLEPOST]So, I downloaded Firefall.

It was a big old "meh" for me. It's too shootery to be an MMO and slow and junk questy to be a good multiplayer FPS. Basically take Borderlands and remove everything fun and memorable about it, add in a halfassed MMO theme, and you have Firefall.
