What are you playing?

Dear God what, exactly? Heh.

Also ixnay on the overpay angerray thing, they might kick me out!
It's an hour and a half. You could have cut that into three 30-ish minute episodes, gotten 3 times as many views, and it would have been far less daunting for someone just getting started in the game.

That said, you covered basically anything I'd have wanted to know about playing.

Heh, where were you when I was asking what I should do, eh?

What software did you use to record the tutorial? I've been thinking of doing this. Or just some Lets Plays.
Recorded using fraps, edited using windows movie maker.

You'll need a lot of free space though. The unedited footage for that tutorial took up 150 gigs.

Seagate is even shipping 8TB HDDs now.

If you're recording footage, it's best to do so to its own independent "scratch" drive. Even SATA-II/300 is fast enough to record uncompressed 24-bit 1080p content (175MB/sec), and since video recording is usually sequential, mechanical hard drives are good enough. Modern mechanical drives tend to top out around 200MB/sec sequential write speed, so as long as you pick something far enough above 175, you should be good.

A buddy raved about this "Clash of Clans" thing for mobile. So I tried it. It's the same "don't play the game, pay the game" bullshit that the tiny tower/tiny death star/etc nonsense is. People who make games like this should be tried at the Hague.

Gas doesn't sound anywhere near as Texan as I expected.

Also, since we brought up HD's I just got my new 16TB RAID drive in the mail. I'M SO DAMN EXCITED. :aaah:

Uhm... I'm not sure I would want my Gnomes to trade with this nation...

(Kingdom names are randomly generated, but why would that word even be in the generator?!)

Probably uses random words from the user's search history...

edit: Sorry, Gas, that came off a lot less biting in my head. Also, I thought that the game was online so I figured that was another user with... interests, not something out of your own computer.

Heh, that screenshot isn't actually from my game, it's off reddit.

But it would explain why all the randomly generated names on my kingdoms seem to involve sweat and curses.

They are probably a merchant city state due to all that insider trading even though some of the deals turn up sour more often than usual.

And now for something completely different:

I bought a car in Gran Turismo 4 that I'm not likely to use very often to compete with, but it's a car that I just think is incredibly cool. It's horrifically expensive and not really a great car, but it's just gorgeous. And it looks sort of like the car from The Wraith (which is the Chrysler/Dodge M4S Concept Car - a shameful omission from the roster of any car sim). It is.... the Jaguar XJ220 '92. Hardly a bargain at over $750,000 in game, but just lovely. I already had the LM Race Version, so this is just for fun and beauty.

Been trying a few games that I downloaded over the year to see if I'll like them. Most have been trash (tried 3-4) and have been promptly deleted.

I'm now playing Banner Saga.... and I REALLY want to like this game... but I deeply resent the way combat mechanics work. They implemented an absolutely inane concept that when the enemies are down to 2... they alternately move after every one of your characters. Basically, if you're next guy is the archer and need to bring them up, they'll attack someone who's sitting there unable to do jack shit. Some guys will take 2-4 hits before the guy dies... basically giving the enemy a comeback possibility every battle... and it pisses me off.

I found a way to get around it by simply maiming everyone to make them weak but it's stupid and drags battle and I dislike the whole thing. I don't know, I'll try a bit more tonight but prolly gonna trash it. Shame, I would have picked it up on Steam after an hour or two of gameplay. Who thought this was a good idea? Really.

At least give me a fucking option to turn this shit off.

Mario Kart 8. Having fun, especially because I haven't played a Mario Kart game since the GBA era.

I'd LOVE to play some multiplayer with forumites.

Side note: CURSE YOU PHOENIX WRIGHT LOGIC! Annoying when you know the contradiction but you aren't sure where/when to present it. I feel like I say this with every Phoenix wright game.

The trick is to know how many to maim versus how many to kill. Gotta find the right balance.
