Halforum Minecraft Server

@Eriol -The platform I made at the top of the nether is a Zombie pigmen, magma cube and ghast spawning platform. It has decent enough rates to make a stack of golden apples in an hour or so on a server. Though the rates for ghast tears, are so-so. The pain in the butt when I was building it was that those buggers were spawning almost every time I went to the other side to collect items to continue building making a wreck of the place. Reason I asked grub for some rs one night he was on. If it isn't creepers its Ghast's messing with my builds.

Now time to start anew. Do we want another Iron farm at spawn again, or a trading village? I have a cool idea for that to make it like a NPC village from like Dragon Quest or FF,if anyone is interested.

I can't get a cow to save my life. Had 2 following me and I hear a "sssssss" and then there was 1. Then I found another one and the same thing happened. And there are none nearer than 400m from my base.

Cool. I wondered how it all worked.

I vote trading village, but that's just me. I see and appreciate the usefulness of an Iron Golem Farm, but I'd say farms/grinders isn't as much of a "starter village" thing. That's more industry, and less "commons" thing IMO. But I'm hardly going to say "no don't!" to anybody doing almost anything... as long as you stay off my land you crazy kids!!!

(I think I'm younger than most here)

Also, whomever claimed the village at 263, -700, did you really have to kill all the villagers? They had trades! Now, no trades. Sad. :(

If the village isn't walled in, they may have been killed by zombies and other mobs.
We logged out there last night because we were travelling. This morning I log in, and there's a few extra walls, chests, a bed, pressure plates, etc, in the house I was logged out in. And there are NO villagers anywhere. There was more than one house that I deliberately "lit up" with torches, and had doors. Now the only house with a door is the one I "woke up" in. And no villagers in that house either.

Ultimately I'm OK with this, and I'm not out to "Police the Server" or anything like that, but I'm just looking for an explanation!

I was on until about midnight but never went to the village and nobody else was on at that time.

I found an Ocean Monument, immediately had a ghost of an Elder Guardian show up to Mining Fatigue me, then screamed really loud and ran away. My 8 year old daughter called me a wuss. :p Need to stock up on water breathing pots and get a respiration/aqua affinity enchant before I even consider going in there.

Location? I'm curious.

It's pretty far out from spawn. The loc for the nearby island is -1743, 65, 1125. If you nether portal to my area it's just a straight boat ride west.

There's a chance that someone was close enough that it triggered the apocalypse. I think it's like 200 squares away. The fact the doors are missing is a dead giveaway that the zombies attacked.

I doubt this was malicious. Remember, it happened to the village in the first game, too, until we repopulated it.

I thought you had to be on hard for zombies to be able to break down doors? That's what the Zombie article says, though it could be out of date.

I wonder who it was then, since there was stuff built there now.
It was Cranky, though he did get killed. As soon as he found out the coords for the village, he headed over there to fortify it so the villagers wouldn't get killed. Unfortunately, he got killed and got frustrated and we switched over to Diablo anyway so he was going to get back to it later. He did not finish protecting it, so the villagers probably got assimilated into the zombie population. It's extremely easy to have that happen after the changes. FWIW I am currently logged out there as well, since I ran over there to recover his death pile and then didn't have time to get back to my home base before nightfall.

How many people are attached to the nether now? I'd make the path from my portal to spawn safe but the pigmen are after me because I accidentally redirected a ghast fireball at one.

I could technically do this now that we have Flint & Stone, but I haven't bothered yet. We've been to bedrock multiple times, stacks of iron/coal, even redstone & Lapis (and emeralds), but have been extremely unlucky with diamonds, since we have zero. I'm not ready to "cast" one yet. I will if I don't get it by end of day or so though.

I'm thinking it might be a bit easier to make a nether network if we start near the ceiling. Then we just have to dig, and not try to make vast bridges. Although, I did like making them and it made the tunnels a bit more interesting.

Does Aussie's "breakthrough" technique still work. "Near" the ceiling isn't as easy as "above"

I haven't even really started digging yet. I just finished clearing away my space on the island and making it uniform. Now I'll start digging for minerals and stuff. You guys are scary sometimes.

My only problem with that is you can't break down if you want. I suppose it's ok, but we'll need to add "paths" to everyone's place also.

I already have a portal because I used it to move out. I didn't make a path to it, but I did label it, and it's near the bottom of a nether fortress pillar.

Nether portal in the Nether is at -130, 27, 125

I feel ya, Dave. I'm still carving out my presence into the side of a hill, only just hit iron/coal, trying to keep my above-ground footprint minimal, and meanwhile people are zooming by me on jetpacks made of diamond and fueled by magma cube droppings.

I'm hunting for netherwart, have already fallen off a nether fortress while fleeing from a ghast, 2 blazes, and some withered skeletons. It keeps my life interesting.

There should be 1 block of netherwart at spawn. if you need more there is some in the farm part of my place.

i'm near -528,76,-132, or -66,x,-16 in the nether

AGAIN? You didn't learn what that gets you last time? Dude, don't complain if somebody builds a minecart highway across your land again if you're STILL just going to build 100% underground with no surface presence.

I went to your house and got 2, thanks!

Of course, on my way back I found a whole bunch of it. Figures

Oh, I'm building more stuff above ground this time. But I've probably only even been in the game 30min so far, so right now that isn't very much.
Maybe I'll build some candlesticks once I get some netherrack. Right now I'm still on the Quest For Diamond™.

I found me a nice little secluded island for me to take up residence on. I put up a marker in case anyone stumbles on it. I don't have a presence up top yet.
