The blog post explaining what happened has gone up, and it's a long one. I don't think I can finish it right now, since I'm up with insomnia, but I plan to read it all once I get some sleep. I think the TL; DR boils down to: Thunt is suffering from severe anxiety and depression, possibly other mental health issues, as we already knew. The "I Quit" title to the post isn't about quitting Goblins, it's about no longer considering his audience to be his boss. Which is a decision I commend. Trying to be responsible to your audience is one thing, but feeling like you have to listen to every asshole who wants to berate your work is just unhealthy.

My heart skipped a beat when I saw "I Quit".

I went on their forums about a week ago. Allegedly some people have had contact with him and that he's still working on his stuff but also the comic as well.

I don't know how anything that Thunt has done can be considered a betrayal.

Unless you're saying taking a break to recover from stress and depression is a betrayal. If that's the case, then.... wow...

Ok betrayal might be the wrong word but I don't think there is a word for "getting your hopes up constantly only to dash them again"

This isn't the first time he's teased at coming back. He's said a few times that he's coming back and that it's totally just like right around the corner and it's going to be great and everything is going to be awesome and WHOOPS it's 3 months later.
And I get it. He's going through a tough time. He can take all the time in the world that he needs. He doesn't owe anyone anything and he could walk away from it all and that would be fine. I feel like I've said all this before each time, so let's just consider it the preface to everything I say about him in the future.

It's kinda sorta a little tiny bit incy wincy really shitty to keep teasing it. Rich Burlew is at least as upfront about his situation as he needs to be. He makes it clear that he will update when he can and that the whole world can go screw itself in the meantime.

Did it ever occur to you that he may have thought that he was up to getting back to work only to find that he wasn't ready yet?

Hmhmhm. Seven months of waiting were well worth it, it seems. Good to see he's recovered, or is recovering at the very least.

Call me crazy and you'd be right, but I can't picture anyone in the G.A.P. saying the "There is a fine line" quote to Complains, be it Ears or anyone else. Most likely wrong, but for some reason, I have a feeling the speaker may be referring to Ruby.

Actually, I can picture Ears saying it to Complains. Ears has shown himself to be an "honor above reason" type of paladin. If he feels Complains is going too far down the road to evil, he may be willing to forgo friendship and threaten Complains with destruction. Alternatively, he may still be unwilling to fight Complains, but he's using the threat to try to bring Complains back from the brink of evil.

Most likely. There's just something about it that just doesn't seem right. Ears is one of the best examples of a paladin I've ever seen and despite Complains' alterations, it's hard to imagine him doing anything evil. In fact his father the freaking monk seems like the type who'd sooner commit an act of evil in my opinion (Again, most likely wrong).

Said it once several months ago, will say it again. What is he seeing? (Also, might actually be right about the 'skewed Detect Evil' thing.)

Welp, looks like we're about to find out... Forgath has knocked off Kore's faceplate... does he see himself underneath?!

The recognition was certainly there. So if it's not him it's someone he knows.
Which makes me worried. There's lots of reasons pointed out before that it wouldn't really make sense for it to be him... which means it's going to be a Scooby-doo-esque "old man Potter" who we've never seen before but is suddenly a critical character.

Holy shit, I just realized the other Bladebeard dwarf Kore's referring to is the kid from the very beginning.

This guy's messed up, yo.

Good catch, man! Torgoth the little Dwarven kid captured and killed because he might be evil.

What a great first strip. I'm gonna be very pissed if we don't get a good chunk of the reveal on the next couple pages though. Starting back up with a cliffhanger would just be....incredibly wrong.

On twitter:
"Next Goblins page is close to being finished. Maybe a couple more days?
04:36:44 PM September 24, 2014"

He was apparently having problems with his meds, had to change them.
Mental/nervous drugs are amazingly difficult to get right. There are several types and they all affect different things in different ways. And when you find they don't work you can't just stop taking them, you have to wean your way off of them. Dude will get right, it just might take a bit of time.

A couple more days turned out to be 2 weeks, and the whole page still isn't done... but the one completed frame shows Kore's unobscured face, and none of us got it right.
