I've been binging anime lately. I watched all of attack on Titan. Which could be good if it weren't for the lulls and dragging plot. It's not Bleach level slow but it's still slow. I caught up on the manga too. I also watched Deadman Wonderland which I did like, but it was short and I don't know if and when more are coming.
But yes, I now know who it is and it did come out of nowhere.
This got dark in the last few episodes. Persona 3 was gloomy throughout, so when it took a couple nasty turns, there wasn't a huge tonal shift. Persona 3 makes you feel like you want to give all the characters a hug because you feel so bad for them. Here in Persona 4, everyone seems much better adjusted and more focused, so when this dark stuff hit it's really shattering.
Actually I was reacting to a certain incident immediately before that:

Alright... once you've finished out the series, I'd recommend watching episodes 6 and 7 of Persona 4 The Animation: The Golden.
This is because in The Golden version of the game, Adachi becomes a social link. These two episodes focus on his thoughts and motivation throughout the series, along with Yu's attempts to befriend him and the resulting bond between the two. They are actually my favorite episodes throughout the series.

On Deadman Wonderland: More isn't coming (but could in the future), but the manga is still ongoing if you want to see the rest of the story. To put it bluntly, the DVDs of the first season didn't sell so it didn't get a second season. It's kind of what happened to Big O.
As for Attack on Titan... if the show didn't have the lulls, you wouldn't have time to care about the characters. In a show where anyone and everyone can die, it's important to develop everyone to at least a certain level. It's both the strongest and weakest part of the show.

Finished the main series. Some of the storytelling seemed hindered because in the game, you'd just have a final boss fight, whereas here there had to be some narrative struggling.
Those two episodes of Golden more than make up for it. They definitely give a lot of insight on the killer's character.
Making him a social link is a genius alteration, too. I imagine the revelation in Golden hit all the much harder for people who never played the original and went through Adachi's social link.
When I finished all that, I thought, "Hey, now I can check out the Persona 4 tag on Tumblr without fearing spoilers." Glad I waited--apparently people love making jokes and parody comics about the killer.
Yep... but you can hardly blame them: Persona 4 has been out... what, 4-5 years now? It's long past the spoiler due date. I only spoilered it because I knew you were watching.
Adachi's social link is actually a bit weird... you have two options on how it can play it. You can reject him once you confront him, which causes The Jester link to flip to The Hunger, which eventually maxes out during the True Ending and gets you Magatsu Izanagi that way... or you can hide your suspicions about Adachi and assist him in disposing of the evidence that points to him. Doing this makes you his accomplice and he gives you a phone that he can call you on once you leave town so you can essentially be murder buddies. This is how the Bad End plays out.
The thing is, Adachi being the killer shouldn't be surprise. He was always trying to stop you and once that note was delivered to your house, the only suspects left are Namatame (who we know is innocent), the substitute teacher (who could have gotten your address from the school), and Adachi (who goes there all the time).
Now, I know you said you didn't want to watch all of The Golden, but I'd probably catch the last two episodes to get the true final ending and the finale.

I appreciate you putting it under spoilers. And no, I don't blame Tumblr on that count. If I want to get mad at them, it's for making scene-by-scene gifs of movies' endings the weekend they come out. I don't know how people do it, but they do. I've learned that if I want to see something un-spoiled, I leave it alone on Tumblr until I've seen it.
I'll watch the last couple Golden episodes tonight. I don't think I want to go through the whole thing; the addition of Marie feels weird to me after her not being a presence at all in the main anime. Not sure how I would've felt about the game, but I'm never getting a Vita, so that'll have to be a mystery.
I guess in the Golden game it would become obvious he's the killer because of that social link, but that does take some of the bite out of it being a murder mystery. When I went over different characters in my head who could possibly be the killer, I discounted Adachi because he seemed too incompetent. But that incompetence act was a perfect excuse for covering his crimes. Namatame's misunderstanding of the consequences of his actions was an interesting angle.
I feel like overall I prefer Persona 3, but I can't tell if that's because I think the overall scheme and goal were better handled, if it's just because I played through that game over the course of a year or so instead of binging on an anime version over a shorter period of time, or because Persona 3 is gloomier and that just suits me better.

Not really. You'd just think he's a jerk face... and you can't confront him until you'd do it in the game anyway, so it's not spoilery for first timers.

See, having played both games, I'd say Persona 3 is just a bit too... cold hearted in how it handles relationships. It feels like the main character is just saying what he can to manipulate people into giving him more power instead of forging a legitimate connection. Comparing it to 4, Yu's interactions feel much more legitimate and like different facets of a personality than Yu trying to get ahead. Plus I give them proper for having a character confused by his own sexuality and role... in the anime they play Kanji as gay (for Naoto, which IS hilarious), but in the game it's much more ambiguous of whether he's gay or just not ready to accept that his interests shouldn't define his masculinity. He's easily my favorite character in the series.

Narukami is going to come across as a stronger character for me just because I've seen the anime, where he's a hilarious weirdo with a good heart, and for Minato it's whatever I chose him to say, which was trying not to do much damage, but never siding with Junpei on anything. Actually, he really reflected my personality--I spent a lot of evenings taking Komomaru on walks instead of doing actual social link stuff. Anyone I met while out with the dog was purely incidental. Hrm.
I agree Persona 4 is more daring with its characters, which led to more surprises and fun moments. Many of the characters in Persona 3 were scarred by shared tragedies in their pasts that gave them hurdles to overcome, while Persona 4's characters really took the persona aspect to heart in that their obstacles were parts of their present selves. I want to give hugs to Persona 3's characters, while Persona 4's characters feel more like people you'd want to hang out with.
That said, I'm still a sucker for plot, and in Persona 3 ...
The experiment that created the Dark Hour, the build up of defeating the big shadows, the betrayal, sacrifice, Strega, the time leading to the world's end, Ryoji. I think I preferred that the doomsday becomes a force that cannot be reasoned with, whereas Persona 4, humanity is sort of being tested.
But for all I know I'd feel differently if I played through both of them, and both games stick to their own themes. I wonder how weird that is in all the crossover titles (fighting game, rhythm game, dungeon crawler game).
I'll definitely be playing Persona 5 when it comes out.
Watching Noragami. Interesting show. Not sure the execution is perfect, but it's pretty solid. It's about a nearly forgotten Shinto god trying to get back into fame. Got some really interesting concepts in it.
Boku no Hero Academia: Premise ain' that original, but the action scenes are real cool, and the art is FAN-tastic. My only other criticism is that in looking it up on google I learned "Boku no Pico" was a thing *shiver*.
Edit: Actually scratch the unoriginality part, mostly because they changed it up to rather than only a few people having powers, EIGHTY PERCENT of people have powers. That's actually a nice change up.
I bought way to much anime after Christmas....however i did finally get something watched. Sekirei
alright, how to describe this? its basically magical girlfriend Harem meets Pokemon/gotacatchemall. The show is cute, but full of gratuitous nudity and fan service. It has a regular build up, and the suggestion that the main big bad may be the MC father is hilarious given his nature. I already ordered season 2 we loved it so much.
I really enjoyed this one. It was interesting to have the protagonist start the show basically at max level already, and just have him stomp everyone. A good twist.
I just found out that Parasyte, which I started reading in manga form during high school, has been adapted to an anime and binge-watched the 12 episodes available. It's as good as I remember it, although I think the black and white artwork disturbed me more than the animation does. I also always imagined Migi sounding a little more robotic. Still, it's a good sci-fi horror.

I haven't been watching as much lately thanks to school and WoW's xpac. Pretty much only had Gundam Build Fighters Try, Amagi Brilliant Park, and Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso. All good, GBFT is fun as hell like the previous series, Amagi is typical KyoAni SoL/fantasy comedy fun, and Kimi no Uso is a pretty good romcom with a drama sprinkle.
Kill la Kill is so much fucking fun it should be illegal. I wish Trigger would do more stuff like that, but this past season it was SoL, which just doesn't fit their style as well.

I don't know if it got mentioned and I missed it, but I highly recommend I Don't Know What My Husband Is Saying. Light, mildly scattered-brained relationship comedy about a girl whose husband is a massive otaku where she is not. 3m30s episodes, 13 episodes, watched it with my GF, super fun.
I watched the first two episodes and wasn't impressed. I just couldn't believe two people who barely knew or liked each other got married. Does it get better?

hey, if Sojiro Izumi can get someone like Kanata to not only love and marry him, but produce the wonderful young lady that is Konata, I will believe anything.
