You and half the guys who were in my ventrilo in DAOC.Just the other week I was ridiculed for casually pronouncing "trebuchet" as "tray-bucket," which was the way I'd always read it in my head.
broken image?Did somebody say Trenchbucket?!
An argument could be made for that. The nomenclature of inner sphere mechs is stupid. In fact, most inner sphere mechs are stupid, full stop.I thought the heavier version of the Catapult was the Timberwolf
Also, it goes the other way. Know how to pronounce it, but not spell it?
I think they meant "Fiancee."
Oh, so very yes. I should try and find some of the written statements that we get sometime, if that wouldn't get me into ALL KINDS of trouble. But it's enough to make a person drink themselves vapid, knowing that this is the generation that follows mine. What, no..Please no.
It reminded me of that line from "The Searchers." "I'll thank you to unhand my fie-antsy."What, no..Please no.
You were Lisa Lisa of Cult Jam fame?I was playing Trivial Pursuit with my family when the original game came out. I read the question, What song did Doris Day sing in The Man Who Knew Too Much?
The player could not come up with the answer, so I read the answer. Que Sera Sera. But I read it as "K Sara Sara"
My parents just about fell out of their chairs.
I don't believe you. I still think it's Mwuahv and La-zoo-li.(. . .) I had been saying "mwahv" up to that point, she took great pleasure in pointing out it was pronounced "Moh-v." (. . .) Turned out, that's "Lazsh-you-lie."
Hey, around here we don't discrimihate.TIL that it is tolerated to hate on white christian males on this forum.
I thought they were the same person.Today I learned that Shant and Ethan James from Kids React look almost exactly the same.
Stencil Dudebros gonna bro.Today I learned that Shant and Ethan James from Kids React look almost exactly the same.
Do Clark Kent and Superman have different twitter accounts?I did too. But they have different twitter accounts.
Apparently I've been mispronouncing mauve and lazuli wrong also. "mawv" and "la-zoo-lee" just seemed natural compared to "mohv" and whatever. After all the times I had smilingly corrected Pauline's english pronunciation (which was often hilariously wrong - "What's that RTS you liked to play so much, Command and Canker? Or that MOBA, Lord of Leggins?"), she was delighted when she found out I never knew how to properly pronounce "mauve." I had been saying "mwahv" up to that point, she took great pleasure in pointing out it was pronounced "Moh-v." Of course, some years ago I found we were BOTH pronouncing "lazuli" wrong... Lapis "LAH-ZOO-LEE" rings in everquest and so on. Turned out, that's "Lazsh-you-lie."
The real kicker is I'd also heard it pronounced right, and never made the connection. The Lazuli were the "rival" family on meerkat manor.Apparently I've been mispronouncing mauve and lazuli wrong also. "mawv" and "la-zoo-lee" just seemed natural compared to "mohv" and whatever.
