...so it's Legend of Zelda: Skyrim?
Given Nintendo's history with trying to introduce gameplay mechanics from other genres into Zelda games, it'll be more like Legend of Zelda: We're Making an Open World Game Without Having Paid Attention to What Other Open World Games Have Done.

Majora's Mask had adventure game elements, but gave no indication that the designers had ever played a LucasArts game, or anything in the inventory puzzle type adventure game genre.

Skyward Sword had a crafting system, but showed no indication that the designers had learned from other games with crafting systems.

Nintendo is great at innovation, and pushing the industry in directions that other companies wouldn't think of. However, they're also pretty arrogant in not learning from other company's successes (and failures). I would really like this game to prove me wrong, but I think it's far more likely that there will be many mechanics in this Zelda game that have people frustrated because those same failings have already been found in other games, and fixed in later iterations of the genre.

Personelly I hope the new Zelda has more NPC than the last one and the world feels more organic and plausible. Just 20 people don't make a living City or a civilisation in a modern game.

What's the last one? Skyward Sword or A Link Between Worlds, or one of the remakes?

I don't think any Zelda game's had a lot of NPC's since the N64 games, really.[DOUBLEPOST=1417892668,1417892525][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, Skyrim did incredibly well in Japan. One of, if not the only, US games to get a perfect score from the notoriously hard-to-please Famitsu magazine.

A Link Between Worlds (3DS) is the latest I believe and is pretty great. Skyward Sword is the Wii one and mind of... meh.
I wasn't sure which counted as what; I didn't think anyone would expect many NPCs in ALBW since it's a top-down game. Having a horde of NPCs would bring clutter, not to mention there's only two towns, I think.

Yeah, but from my memory Minish Cap had more NPCs than Skyward Sword
I mean Skyward Sword. Earlier games in the Zelda franchise had just a handfull characters due to hardware limitations and to keep the story focus on the adventure and dungeon exploration. A ton of characters with names and backstories is probably not a good idea for a Zelda title, but looking at Xenoblade Chronicles and The Last Story I wished that Skyward Sword wouldn't look so depopulated.

New trailer for Persona 5, with confirmed release in 2015 for PS3 and PS4.

Is anyone else a bit mystified about this? We haven't gotten ANY details about this game except the trailers and the release dates.
I gather from this teaser and Street Fighter V that Japanese developers don't like Xbox :p.

Don't worry; if you're on Atlus's newsletter then in the month or so before the game comes out, you'll be bombarded with info.

I'm assuming that lack of Xbox release has as much to do with Microsoft's refusal of crossplay between platforms as it does with Sony helping fund the game.

Capcom issues press credentials to Angry Joe to make Street Fighter video.

Angry Joe does his usual thing, says negative things about the game.

Capcom issues DMCA claim, gets Angry Joe's video taken down.

See, now there's that payola problem again. Just like when that guy got fired from IGN for giving Kane & Lynch Dog Days middling reviews (it wasn't even a slam piece, it just wasn't especially favorable - I think he gave it a 7) when the site was running a major Kane & Lynch ad blitz.

Joe's rant wasn't even that negative. He was mostly positive and excited for the game, his only complaint was the playstation exclusivity.

Though, it might have nothing to do with the content of his video, and could just be an overzealous bot/takedown department/etc targeting anything that includes the trailer in it.

And as the article notes, Activision actually has done that before - their overzealous takedown department got a video yanked from their own official channel.

I'm willing to believe it's Capcom Japan doing this shit and not Capcom USA. Virtually all of Capcom's problems right now can be found in it's aging, entrenched management.

I just got a copyright notice on one of my videos. The Smite arena gameplay one. Sent by a video network calling themselves "Base 79."

Interesting thing is, they don't seem to have any affiliation with Smite, or Hi Rez Studios (the developers/publishers of smite)

Even more interesting, Hi Rez Studios has published ON THEIR WEBSITE :

"We support and encourage you, as an individual content creator, to create videos using our game content AND monetize those videos as you wish."

Naturally I'm contesting the claim.

I'd just plain old sue. Base 79 is a content management company currently owned by Rightster (what used to be it's rival) and owned by Ashley Mackenzie (son of the owner of The Sun). However... I know for a fact that Chad Hurley (co-founder of Youtube) sits on the board of that company, so you might be shit out of luck.

My best guess of what happened is the title and content is close enough to an IGN video (Rightster manages their Youtube distribution) so they axed you.

I'd be wasting my time sueing, and they probably know it.
The monetization of that video hasn't even brought in 1 cent yet, and is unlikely to ever break a dollar.

From what I've heard on the grapevine, Capcom USA is mostly a suits-on-the-ground operation for Capcom Japan anyways, so I suspect you're spot on.[DOUBLEPOST=1418226372,1418226292][/DOUBLEPOST]

Suing is probably a bad idea, but definitely contest it. If your Smite vids are your own, then they should not have a leg to stand on.

Pretty much. "People love MegaMan and have for 4 generations of consoles (NES, SNES, Playstation, PS2). Let's stop making it." "These YouTube gaming critics / personalities are a really cost effective way of spreading buzz about our games. Let's give them a press pass and invite them to spread the word, then FUCK THEM UP THE ASS FOR DOING SO."
