What are you playing?

I've never had a problem with the Fade in DA:O. I don't know why people have such animosity towards it.

Now, the soul crystal plane from Skyrim: Dawngaurd, that's a terrrrrrrible game area.
Lots of backtracking, repetitive environments, annoying environmental hazards "whoops, I took one step too far and I instantly burn to death", and, oh yeah, the crashing. Those are my issues.

I never even got as far as the fade in DA:O. The junior high romance BS drove me off well in advance of that point.

I AM AWARE OF THE IRONY THANK YOU.

I got to play some evolve. It's an interesting concept, but I feel like it needs a bit more polish. Though, maybe it will get some, with their ever increasing focus on DLC. I feel like there should be more objectives to force more battles and confrontations, because a lot of times it's just an extended hide and seek.

But yeah, not a bad game. Not one I'm aching to play again though, and certainly not something I'd spend $60 on and then $15 for every new monster they come out with, that's crazypants.

It's a game that takes some getting into, so playing an hour is going to make it seem unpolished. There are a few different game modes that move things away from hide and seek, but I've not actually played them (rescue/kill colonists, protect/kill monster eggs, etc.).

Still not worth $60. Some people are suggesting it should've been a free to play game, and then had all the extra stuff as paid add-ons, but then there would've been an expectation for the paid stuff to be better, I think, whereas depending on the player, each hunter type or monster type can be good as another. A lot of medic players swear by Caira, but I'm a Lazarus man.

I think Evolve looks more like a game that would be great for $30, but not $60, and with considerably cheaper DLC. If each monster was $5, then I think you could feel you're getting what you pay for.

It feels like the multiplayer mode attached to a different game.

Holy shit.. my Besiege "Thwomp" video just got like 2700 views this afternoon (it had previously gotten 200 over its entire lifespan)... and because dumb google analytics always runs a day or two behind, I won't know the traffic source until it's too late to do anything about it! Aaaigh![DOUBLEPOST=1424216208,1424215787][/DOUBLEPOST]I may have figured it out... PC Gamer just did a feature on "30 incredible machines built by the Besiege community" 7 hours ago and I'm on page 3.

Though I began the day with Evolve, once my wife got up we went hardcore into Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and had a great day off. Made a room, met some randoms, and the four of us actually made a really good team.

And since Capcom is forcing Nintendo to get with the times, we were able to add them to our Friends list on the 3DS like you're supposed to be able to do for a modern gaming console (hint HINT 3DS Smash Bros).

I know they're different kinds of games, but it says something when I can play Monster Hunter for 6 hours and still want more, but after 45 minutes of Evolve I'm done.

Really? I've been going on 4 hour Evolve gaming streaks at a time.
I was for the first three nights, but it's tapered off.

I experimented with the Wraith tonight, didn't even get Supernova. Still won with ease. Also, while I'm trying to play hunter more, I've discovered some people's strategy to turn around a losing match is to just leave.

That's insane.

Also, with all these "Evolve" videos, what is the pulse that seems to come from the monster every 5-ish seconds? Is it some kind of sonar/radar?

--Patrick
It's the monster's scent ability. It's a basic tracking pulse to find wildlife to feed on and the hunters if they're too close.

Actually, it's merely a much more ostentatious version of how I myself passed that level. I didn't have any pistons or springs or expanding arms or anything, but I did have a central spinning flamethrower matrix. The goal of that level is to kill 90% of the troops, and (except for the archers) they helpfully charge your contraption to attack it. So really all you need to do is make a killing zone in the middle. At first I tried it with spinning blades, but the game's physics does consider the resistance of sharpened metal passing through flesh and bone, so it often would knock itself over from the shock of the blades hammering through 10 people at once. Instead, I settled on a basic, top-armored (to prevent arrow damage) spinning table with flamethrowers at eye level. It spins, when the knights get close, the flamethrowers turn on, and if you're lucky, the fleeing, flaming knights also bump into the archers, setting them on fire (though even the knights burning to death alone will give you the 90% you need).

Why do you know these things
Because I am a terrible, terrible person who thrives on depravity, but keeps it all hidden below a thin veneer of normality so that people don't run screaming from/call the cops on/tie to a stake and set fire to/make horrified faces at me.

That must be IRL, because if this is your veneer of normality on the boards, you must REALLY be depraved.

I got everything done in HuniePop save for getting the cat girl, because fuck wandering around until the Fish spawns in the store. Spent an ingame week trying to get it to appear and no dice.

As for lately, I'm playing something far more embarrassing than a puzzle dating/sex sim.

SWtOR.

I've got my old level 50 Sentinel, but I decided to level a Commando instead. Outside of the one planet I always hated (Hoth) I'm actually having fun with the game right now. I like the new talent system that replaced the old bloated Vanilla-WoW-style tree.

I actually kind of hate it because it's impossible to take useful debuffs (like Grav Round) alongside healing probes now. I literally deleted my Commando because I no longer had the tools to both...

- Have fun using my big gun
- Heal my team in a useful fashion

Ironically, I don't have this problem as a Mercenary because I only have pistols, not a big fucking gun. I don't feel like I'm missing out by being a healer.

That said, it's WAY better being a tank now than it was before... and being a Powertech/Vanguard tank was already a whole lot of fun.

As the DPS spec I've still got three of the heals at level 41, though one is just a self-heal. Plus, at least when soloing, I have Dorne following me so I barely ever have to heal anyway.

HuniePop has turned out to be a legit fun puzzle game. With some pretty funny writing that I've thoroughly enjoyed. I'm really impressed by the voice acting, which is all top notch, and while some of the character voices are annoying, they're annoying by design, rather than just by accident.

I did have to turn the sound off on a few of the sex puzzles, though. I don't remember which character it was, but her voice actress was doing a fantastic job of sounding... enthused. How am I supposed to play a timed version of bejeweled with her moaning in my ear?

Well yeah, soloing it's not much of an issue. But you don't get to use the cannon much as a healer.

Have you tried out the group finder? They added a new version of Flashpoint: Tactical Flashpoints. They are designed to be run by any 4 classes within about 20-30 minutes. Way easier to get basic comms now.

Yeah I only get one until level 55, but it's pretty easy and getting a quick 20 comms a day is totally worth it.
You only get one until 55, but it's good for getting rep if you want the legacy armor or other stuff from the vendor on the starfighter launch deck. It's a pretty neat looking heavy armor looking adaptive set.

"I finally figured out what all these panties are for!"

- Something I never thought I'd say while playing a game. Or, in general, really. But thank god, those things were taking up a ton of inventory space.
