Me too! He was one of the reasons I used to watch Screw Attack back in the day. I met him briefly at SGC in... 2011 I think.I love ProJared.
Something must've gone wrong in a training seminar.Well god dammit.
Well god dammit.
I usually use the pun rating when the pun is bad enough to make me groan.I have to wonder how many people actually laugh when they tag a pun with the Pun tag.
It's either they laughed and they don't want to admit it.
Or they're simply pointing it out academically and saying, "I confirm that this was a pun."
Is it wrong that I love THAT reaction more than getting an actual laugh?I usually use the pun rating when the pun is bad enough to make me groan.
Geez, way to derail the thread.I have to wonder how many people actually laugh when they tag a pun with the Pun tag.

I recognize every character in this image, SEND HELP
I am comforted by the fact that I only know 3, and vaguely recognize a 4th.I recognize every character in this image, SEND HELP
I don't recognize any of those characters, but I have to admit I think the idea could result in a very funny game.
To be fair, a lot of those adds featured an all-white woman grabbing an all-black woman by the neck or otherwise grappling with her. There's a bit of subtext there. It's not just older stuff either. Remember when the white PSP came out? There was a flare up on the Image boards over it.
Well, if you're going to add in subtext, it's worth noting that these ads were not made by an american company, nor run in the USA. They ran in the Netherlands.I don't recognize any of those characters, but I have to admit I think the idea could result in a very funny game.
Of course, that lead to a thought that I'm surprised no one has made yet, despite how wrong it is: Katawa Shoujo fighting game.[DOUBLEPOST=1428284074,1428283712][/DOUBLEPOST]

Where they still wear blackface for a tradition. Netherlands is not known for it's racial sensitivity.Well, if you're going to add in subtext, it's worth noting that these ads were not made by an american company, nor run in the USA. They ran in the Netherlands.
Black Pete (and the Noirauds, another tradition being attacked around here) are not blackface. Argue all you want. Applying cultural norms from one culture with specific subtext to another culture is just asking for misunderstandings and doesn't help anyone. You may argue Black Pete is racist; you can not claim it's blackface, as that term with its cultural implications simply doesn't exist here and in the Netherlands.Where they still wear blackface for a tradition. The act of painting your face black, in and of itself, isn't racist. It can't be, it's just putting black paint on your face. The reason wearing blackface in the United States is considered racist is because we are a country with a history of racism. We are a country that once held slaves, treated black people as second class citizens even after the end of slavery, and celebrated that in the form of blackface minstrel shows. The reason we as a country now retaliate against that is because it is a part of our history we don't want repeated, it's the same reason why I'm pretty sure Germany isn't very big on anyone throwing around a swastika.Yeah, I couldn't make Pauline understand any of it either (she was born and raised in Bussum, the Netherlands).
Well, not just that, she also didn't understand why saying certain words made white americans wince like you just said "voldemort" in a Harry Potter movie. I tried to explain it to her in much the same terms as above. The act of painting your face black, in and of itself, isn't racist. It can't be, it's just putting black paint on your face. It makes perfect sense to me why countries that don't have that history would wonder what the deal is.
Not in ages, but I used to play it a lot.Anyone here still play Civ 4?
I haven't, come to think of it. And honestly, Civ V just never tickled my fancy, despite trying it multiple times (rarely even got far into a game before losing interest).Anyone here still play Civ 4?
This reminds me, I would like to point out that Kati is still hard at work recreating all the towns in HoMM3 in Minecraft.Speaking of playing old games, heroes 3 has its hooks in me again
I never liked 5 or Revolutions and I really did try due to my love of Civ 4.I haven't, come to think of it. And honestly, Civ V just never tickled my fancy, despite trying it multiple times (rarely even got far into a game before losing interest).
I'mma install it now.
If you're looking for something new to scratch that civ itch, I heartily recommend Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes.I never liked 5 or Revolutions and I really did try due to my love of Civ 4.
I'm sick and feeling sorry for myself....I think I need Beyond the Sword!
