[Movies] The Upcoming Movies Trailer Thread

I'll only cease being butthurt about it if somebody in the movie explicitly says "These new TIE designs are capable of atmospheric flight" or some such, because I've been grousing over this for at least 20 years, when some dingbat over at lucasarts got lazy in Rebel Assault and put TIE fighters in canyons and caves on tatooine.

Putting aside for the moment that EU isn't canon (and really, vast swaths of it *shouldn't* be), what game was it that had the TIE/A and the TIE/D in atmosphere? And was it specifically said that their shields were what made atmospheric flight possible?[DOUBLEPOST=1429212857,1429212825][/DOUBLEPOST]
That scene of driving past the crashed ISD is pretty pants-wetting, to be sure.
Rogue Squadron, at least. And I know they're not canon anymore - but given they're making new canon, well, nothing to go by, really.

I saw this, and though, "Nah, it can't be that good...".

No lie, it got me.
For me, Star Wars was such a huge part of my childhood. I mean, the first movie came out when I was 5 and Return of the Jedi came out when I was 11. I even watched the crappy Christmas special on tv. I never got into the extended universe (I didn't even know there was such a thing until I was in my late 20's) and I have no idea about specs for the ships or even that there were different models of them. As a kid, though, I lived and breathed Star Wars as much as I could in my blink-and-you're-through-it town.

Big Barda?

Maybe, hell if there's a universe where Superman is black there can be a red-headed Big Barda.

And yes that Star Wars trailer looked awesome, and even if it sucks I'ma see it because Han Solo is in it and that's enough for me to take a risk on it. ALSO- what is Chewie eating? 'Sbeen 20 years and he looks the same, dude ages gracefully.

Sounds more like something they'd put in the novelization.

But maybe they could show a tech chart thing next to one really fast that says that i guess...

I... I'm sorry...

.......

Lucas got another one guys... DAMN HIM, DAMN HIM TO HELL!!!!
Somewhere, being dragged on George Lucas's shoe heel like a stray piece of toilet paper, is a notebook page that says "Nick's childhood."

Honestly, if I let myself, I could be excited about this, because there's a lot to glory over in that trailer. But I'm keeping myself in check, expectations down, excitement down. I refuse to allow myself to look forward to this. I will see it when it comes out and at that point I'm allowed to have feelings about it.

Okay, so DC hasn't cornered the market on"Ehh.".
I'd have to see more, because right now it's not really selling me on the reboot justification. Aside from the first two being extremely cheesy.

Same here, also wonder why they're playing around with the origin.
Also we need more Doom in the trailer so we can figure out what he's up to (unless he's the movie's Big Reveal).
Also...who is this guy who's gonna be both Sue and Johnny's dad?

Regarding the origin, it seems they're going with the Ultimate Universe take. In the Ultimate Universe, the Fantastic Four gain their powers during an experiment in teleportation that passes through the Negative Zone.

As for Dr. Doom, who knows? Last I heard, they were making him an anti-social blogger named Victor Domashev who goes by the name of "Doom" on the internet. From that brief shot, I can't tell if he's wearing a metal mask or if they're turning him metal again.

The only think that i liked about the Ultimate origin was that the dialogue implied their forms where caused by the fact that in an alternate universe that's what they where like (Reed's teleporter worked by transporting them through parallel universes or something).

....

And they really need to save Doom for the 2nd film already...

Huh. I still prefer how the other FF movies handled The Thing's effects (Michael Chiklis in a suit as opposed to CGI), but it doesn't look as bad as I thought. Don't know why he's not wearing pants, though.

But yeah, I'll say this much. This at least looks like something worth seeing in theatres (on cheap night).

That's more than Superman vs. Batman can say.

I don't hate the trailer. I don't know if the movie's going to be good, but I guess my interest is somewhat piqued.

Also... are they implying Doom's an interdimensional invader?

I'm probably alone in this, but I really liked Michael Chiklis as The Thing. He was the only part I really liked about the F4 movies.

You're not the only one. He was by far one of the best things of the previous Fantastic Four films. I thought he did a good job delivering on the heart and emotion that should come with the ever-lovin' blue-eyed Thing.

This honestly can't be worse than the Fantastic Four movie was got 10 years ago. But I agree about Michael Chiklis; he was fine. Just a shitty movie he was in.
