A leaked e-mail from a Marvel CEO on why women can't be superheroes. The three movies they use to back up their point?

1) Elektra, an awful spin-off to a movie most people hated.
2) Catwoman, which took such a huge departure from the original source material that it was only Catwoman in name.
3) Supergirl, a 30 year old movie.

But you know, let's just ignore all the successful female-lead movies in recent years. Like Hunger Games.
The email is out of context. For all we know the discussion on the phone was about why it's bad to stray too far from the source material (which Elektra, Catwoman, and Supergirl all did to a fairly large degree.)

Or Salt?
Or Tomb Raider?
Or Wanted?
...wait, how many female lead action moves are there that don't star Angelina Jolie?

Lucy may not have been a great movie, but it was significantly better than Twilight!

And it made $400M, which kicks the economic argument in the teeth.

All 3 are valid interpretations of long standing comic book characters.

It blows me away that you guys can argue for and against something mere hours apart.

Lucy had me going "That's not how that works! That's not how ANY of this works!"

Also the villains were stupid, especially the boss. "Oh this woman's been mowing through countless numbers of my violent thugs? Time for me to hobble in there with my recently stabbed hands and do it myself!"

I mean, it was their drug... if I'd have been them, I'd have gone straight back to the lab to recreate more instead of chase down what was lost.

I like how the car has different hubcaps front and rear. Makes it more "real."
This movie looks like it could be a lot of fun...if Ryan survives the filming.

Judith Hoag, who played April in the original live-action Ninja Turtles movie, will be playing a character in the upcoming Bay sequel.

Damn, she still makes me feel funny things even all these years later.

In semi-related news, they're filming some of the new Ninja Turtles movie here in Buffalo and one of the main highways keeps getting shut down in the evening until the morning.

So...fuck Michael Bay I suppose

Is yours? It's a direct link from Instagram so it's probably using your preferred language. It's in English on my end.
Ah.Didn't know. Oddly, I've...never in my life been to Instagram, as far as I know? So it must've detected language settings from some other service I use. Ick.
