The email is out of context. For all we know the discussion on the phone was about why it's bad to stray too far from the source material (which Elektra, Catwoman, and Supergirl all did to a fairly large degree.)http://thinkprogress.org/culture/20...l-marvel-ceo-listicle-women-cant-superheroes/
A leaked e-mail from a Marvel CEO on why women can't be superheroes. The three movies they use to back up their point?
1) Elektra, an awful spin-off to a movie most people hated.
2) Catwoman, which took such a huge departure from the original source material that it was only Catwoman in name.
3) Supergirl, a 30 year old movie.
But you know, let's just ignore all the successful female-lead movies in recent years. Like Hunger Games.
