Conventional wisdom is that it doesn't do anything for most people the first time. I don't know if there's any actual evidence for that. "They" say it's usually because people subconsciously avoid completely inhaling it the first time.

Although one of the biggest eye-openers of my teenage life was my father (who never drank much, and whose only vices were coffee and smoking), who had to maintain a top-secret security clearance due to contracting work with the military, said "As soon as I retire, I'm gonna see about getting a dime bag."

I would LOVE to have seen my "WTF" face at that...

Fun fact - he recently retired, and is doing carpentry as a home business. And posting a lot more pot-related stuff. Sooooo....
