At least until the Christmas sale or next year, when it'll likely be better. Also, remember, the prices will never be better than the daily deals, so if that year old game you want is still only 25% off, you're SOL.
Well, if there's any holdouts out there who STILL haven't got Left 4 Dead 2 yet, it's once again 4 bucks. It'd be a great game for Halforums gaming nights if not enough people show up to play CAH.And so far, it sucks!

Those shifty fuckin' russians.Fair warning, at least one developer (the War Thunder devs, I think) has been caught raising prices before the sale began. Keep an eye on what you're paying.
It was a bug. It's 30 before discount right now, 15 with it.I'm at a cafe right now, writing, but before I left, I swear I saw X-Com Enemy Within priced at something like $59.99 before the discount. Pretty sure it's never been that high before. Might've been an early bug when the sale first went live, though. I saw things tweaked every time I refresh or went back to the home page.
Publisher sets the prices.Still cheaper to buy the entire game package than to just buy one piece of it. GG Steam, GG.
Not all of it. The X-COM pricing is weird, but 10 bucks for everything is fair. 10 bucks for Hotline Miami 2 (which isn't even a year old) is a good deal considering the time frame. It's like they don't want me to buy a game I pirated 2 years ago.
First day is crap

I can't even join a game. Can someone explain what this monster minigame is supposed to do? I feel like I'm missing something, possibly due to lag.
All you actively do once in a game is click as fast as possible to attack monsters and earn gold. You use this gold to buy upgrades to your click damage, health and a passive damage over time that ticks away whether you're in the game or not. The total defeated of regular monsters, bosses and the total of members that log into the game that day unlock more deals for the next day. As you level up through the game, every 10 levels you get a bonus or something to use the next day, when everything resets back to start. I'm sure there are other aspects I'm not getting right or leaving out but it's basically Cookie Clicker, Click Heroes or Tap Titans.I can't even join a game.
There are daily challenges that unlock more deals, community wide. Right now all we need are boss kills, but we also had total members killing monsters and total clicks today. All you actively do once in a game is click as fast as possible to attack monsters and earn gold. I just downloaded an auto clicker and have been letting it sit as I play other things on consoles. It freezes up constantly though, to the point of having to exit and re-open steam.
Click join a friend's game, and that should open up a list of games to join. Choose any of them that are close to your level (level 1 if this is your first)So, those of us that can't even join a game are shit out of luck?
Tried that, all of my friends in games were more than 10 levels above me, so I couldn't join any of those.Click join a friend's game, and that should open up a list of games to join. Choose any of them that are close to your level (level 1 if this is your first)
Steam itself doesn't control the prices though, right? It's all up to the individual publisher? There's all kinds of funny business going on in this steam sale. How much it will undermine the enterprise is anybody's guess.
From what I understand, yes. However, the actions of these publishers could undermine the until-now orgasmic enthusiasm that the PC gamer market has for the Steam Sales as an institution if they come to expect that there will be slick (and not so slick) attempts to fuck them over or defraud them.Steam itself doesn't control the prices though, right?
