What are you playing?

Nice. I should get that, since it doesnt require the new 3DS.
The only nice thing with the New 3DS is the right joystick, but it's not like that existed on the N64 version and so isn't at all necessary.

I'm not far into it yet. I forgot that the first run through the 3 days is kind of a slog, playing the waiting game once you have the mini-quest done. As for this version, the characters and area look beautiful and the sound is great. There have been a few quality of life improvements, particularly for the notebook that keeps track of the many many many many side-quests. My only criticism is that Clock Town feels a lot smaller, but I have to remember that I last played this when I was 15 or 16, and it was on a TV. Really though, it feeling smaller helps the navigation a little.

Definitely worth picking up from my initial impressions. I wonder if I'll 100% this version as well.

The biggest QoL change is permanent saves at owl statues instead of needing to reset the cycle to save. It may keep me from breaking things getting into the &@$!_$ Goron temple.

So, after the Witcher 3, I have an enormous backlog of games and no wish to play any of them. I guess it's break time?

Two things I'm playing right now.

1) X-COM: Enemy Within

I've had base x-com for awhile, but never really played it. Got Enemy Within recently when it went on sale, and now I'm having a blast. Holy shit this game is so good, and FUCK YOU FRANCE PULL OUT OF THE COUNCIL IF YOU WANT, DO YOU REALLY THINK THE ALIENS ARE GOING TO EXTERMINATE YOU ANY LESS?

Fucking France, every goddamn time.

2) Dragon Ball Xenoverse

... don't judge me. This game is actually pretty fun. I'm playing as a Saiyan, because who wouldn't want to play as a Saiyan? I noticed Earthling is a racial choice, just for anyone who wanted to know what it's like to be Krillen.

I feel like they spiked the difficulty in Enemy Within. It's extremely hard to prevent countries from leaving early in the game unless you push straight for Satellite Coverage, which leaves your men running around with peashooters and bad armor. The moment you get your first Mec Trooper is the moment you can catch your breath, but with unlucky invasions (like I got) you can be two countries down before your first report.

If it wasn't for the potential to play the levels I can't play on the PC, I'd ditch Crash Drive 2. The video is lagging, compared to the Flash version. I'm not sure if this is an indictment of the programmers, or of the quality of my machine.

I actually managed to save France.

I'm about 3 months in now. I've got full satellite coverage over south america (we have ways, sweet!) and another in australia. I've got a mech trooper, a full 6 member squad who are all close to becoming colonel, some b-rankers that fill in for the injured, and a gotdamn amazing sniper gotdamn he kills everything even with just a tiny laser pistol gotdamn.

I can make carapace armor, but I haven't. In fact, I haven't upgraded any armor, and weaponry is mostly stock aside from some laser rifles on my supports and a laser pistol for my sniper (gotdamn!). But I play super defensively with overlaying cover and overwatch. When I encounter a group of aliens, at least one or two die immediately due to overwatch.

And my sniper.

GOTDAMN!

When you give your sniper altitude advantage + the thing that lets you jump onto high ledges as part of your normal move. Mmmmmm

If you're talking about Damn Good Ground, I don't like that talent. +10 aim and +10 defense when on higher ground is ok, but my sniper's aim is so high that 10 isn't really a huge factor, and while 10 extra defense is nice, he really shouldn't be getting shot at at all.

But the real reason I don't like it is because it competes with GUNSLINGER. Since I far prefer group sight to snapshot, that means I can't move and fire my sniper rifle at the same time. But I can move and fire my laser pistol, and gunslinger makes it do damage comparable to an assault rifle, meaning he can still kill people even while getting into position.

Wait, what was it like before? Was it just a quick save? I can't remember; it's been so long.

I suppose it would have to be permanent on a handheld.

It was a quicksave that would auto-load when you started the game again and then be lost. It was a giant pain in the ass when you had more than one person playing the game at a time. Also, didn't give you as much room for error since if you got lost or screwed something up, you had no choice but to start the day cycle from the beginning.

Also, still playing XIV's expansion. Very smooth launch compared to the dozens of other MMO/xpac launches I've been a part of, and the new classes are pretty fun.

So, I just unlocked the ability to go Super Saiyan in DBX.

Your hair doesn't spike up, it only turns yellow.

0/10 worst game ever

I think the real issue is that the other races that should have a transformation (Freiza Clan, Buu) don't have them. But no... everyone who isn't Saiyan can only use Kaioken (up to X20 I think) to boost.

There's fighting poses and other powerups that operate in similar manners, though.
