Whats for Dinner?

Chicken and chickpea masala

1.5 stars out of 4.
I liked it and would eat it again.
Noah liked it overall, but thought the sauce didn't taste good with rice.
Shawn said it had no flavor at all.
Lily refused to try it.

Nothing fancy tonight:

Baked chicken with a basil leaf under the skin. Put it under the broiler when done to crisp up the skin.

Brussels Sprouts, button mushrooms sauteed in butter.

Incidentally, the kindle Fire hd takes crappy pics :(

Pasta and chicken ordered out, along with a homemade carrot cake that had some frosting problems.
Oh, and this.

First attempt at Salisbury steak.

....perhaps my second attempt will be better.
We've made this recipe twice, and it's been delicious both times: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ree-drummond/salisbury-steak-recipe.html Don't worry about buying Kitchen Bouquet. If you have it, great, but we didn't, and it was still awesome. I picked this recipe for two reasons: 1. It didn't use onion soup mix, and 2. I already had everything in my kitchen when I wanted to cook, but not go out and buy ingredients.

Good luck.

Oh, good. In that first pic I thought you were trying to deep fry ice cubes and I was going to be all WHAT ARE YOU DOING???

Wasn't trying to kill myself.

I used small red potatoes, 4 of them, and a hand-held mandolin slicer, then a little bit of ground kosher salt to season after frying.

Hebrew National hot dogs come 7 to a pack. Buns come 8 to a pack. So I had a bun left over.

So I opened it up, slathered it with peanut butter, put a banana in there where the hot-dog would go, and topped it with some bacon.

That's some good stuff Maynard.
