[TV] Talk about the last TV you watched, the catchall thread

Just watched the season premier of Brooklyn Nine Nine and

I can't believe Hader was a one episode thing. I figured he wasn't permanent, but I feel like they could've done more with him.

I tried giving Heroes Reborn a chance the other night. Meh. I think they're going to have to do a bit better before I can put this on my regular viewing list.

I'm trying to bingewatch The Office, but I can't stop pausing it because the sheer awkwardness of every episode is causing me pain.

Yeah, I tried watching the first episode of Heroes Reborn and it was...okay. It wasn't bad like later seasons of the show, but it didn't grab me like the first season did. I'm glad we FINALLY got a nutcase wearing a mask and patrolling the streets. You'd think at least one person would have done that in the original show, with all these superheroes walking about.

But yeah, I don't know. I might give another few episodes.

Just so you know, Heroes Reborn is just a miniseries. So they don't have too many more episodes to woo you.

Yeah, it's only slated for 13 episodes right now, though it's always possible we could get it as an actual returning show if it does well enough or possibly just as mid-season break series like Agent Carter.

The Bastard Executioner. So far it's just compelling enough to keep watching but it still feels like it's finding its feet. If it goes long enough to grow the beard, it might be pretty good. It's not quite there yet, particularly compared to History Channel's Vikings.

One thing that it just a quibble, is that the show's opening credits are shown over blood-covered instruments of torture - iron maiden, spiked chair, presses, all kinds of implements of torture... that historically, were probably never used. A lot of the supposed "medieval torture instruments" were ginned up for Romantic era (1800s) horror shows out of junk or just made to look scary, with made-up histories referring to the inquisition and dark ages and what not.

Caught up on my Doctor Who. First episode was great, lots of fun. Last two kinda lemme down with predictability. Still nice and fun to watch but, the season premiere was friggin awesome. All it took was one word and I was like HOLY SHIT!

Also been watching a lot of The Next Step including their new movie.

Been watching a Canadian sci-fi show called Dark Matter. It reminds me so much of all the low budget sci-fi made in Canada in the 90s I watched. Shows like Earth: Final Conflict, Tekwar and Deepwater Black. I get a massive rush of nostalgia of watching Space Network on Saturday afternoons as a teen watching it. It's pretty decent too. Bad acting and silly looking sets aside.

I liked it. It had some touches of Farscape, Cowboy Bebop, and Firefly, at least in terms of style and theme. It also seems like someone's Traveller campaign set to film.

You know what series needed more seasons? Brimstone. I really liked their portrayal of the devil.
John Glover was born to play Lucifer like that.[DOUBLEPOST=1444167907,1444167831][/DOUBLEPOST]
Please tell me he was based on David Bowie. David Bowie best devil.
Nah, he basically a very slick, cunning, actually rather affable but completely ruthless character who essentially felt he was doing God's dirty work, from what I recall.

Heroes Reborn: Episode 4

So... at that scene with Noah in the hallway...

When he shot the three copies, they turned into salt. But what the hell happened to their very metal guns? Or fuck, their clothes?

Well... in the previous episode when Copy Prime got his hand cutoff, it grew a new clone and it wasn't naked sooo...... the power clones any items on the Prime's body therefore they would turn to dust.

Yeah.... I think that's pretty weak too.

EXCEPT his watch, which was made of metal! He even made a point of asking for it back! This guy's powers are incredibly ill-defined.

Which is one of the big things that killed the first series. They never really thought through the powers they gave people.

Watched the series premier of Supergirl tonight, thought it was decent. Nice job of setting the cast, giving a Big-Bad for the season/series, and having some fun things for fans of superhero television and comics. I'll watch again.

Strange thing for me, I'm not a big fan of either Batman or Superman, but I do like the backup casts from the comics. Supergirl, Robin, Nightwing, Catwoman and Harley Quinn are are characters I enjoy, but I don't enjoy most of the stuff where the Big 2 are the stars.

Brookyln Nine Nine

Thank God Holt is back as captain. I was really worried they'd keep it going for a lot longer.
Yeah, Vulture was wearing his welcome.

Also I'm REALLY confused how either he, OR Wunch have jobs considering how petty they both are. The latter I care less, since she's fun to hate, but the confusion is still there.

Let's see.

Brooklin 99 continues to be great. I look forward to watching it every week, and an already stellar cast only seems to get better chemistry as the show continues.

Goldbergs seems to be off to a slow start, but it was never a great show, just an entertaining one so it gets a pass.

Flash is raising the bar for live action super-hero shows.

Supergirl has potential. I watched the pilot last night. There were some very clunky "piloty" scenes and dialogue in it. Nothing that can't be fixed. I've got faith in the showrunner based on Flash and Arrow. Melissa Benoist was a wonderful casting choice/find.

Brookyln Nine Nine.
Wow...never thought I'd feel SAD about Marcus and Rosa breaking up given their boring ass chemistry but there it is.

So, Ash vs Evil Dead is the bomb, yo. It's clear that Sam Rami is involved and it's not just a cheap cash-in on the original. Don't get me wrong, it's a cash in, but it's at least a good one.
