I was going to put this in the Rant thread, but I'm actually feeling pretty good about this. So, since it's a work in progress, we'll call it a Minor Victory.
Still in the hospital, but they gave me a pass tonight to leave for awhile. I went to see a movie at the downtown theater: The Martian. Brilliant movie and you should all see it. It's very positive about science and I get the feeling it'll inspire many people to study science in some way, shape, or form. Which is never a bad thing.
Anyway, the message of the movie basically boils down to what someone says at the end, "Do the math. Solve the problem." And that got me thinking. Throughout the movie, NO ONE despairs over the problem, even when it's life threatening. They stop, think about it, and do something about it. They "do the math."
Well, I'm not a scientist and I suck at math.
But I can write. If there's one thing I can say, it's that I can write. And what do writers do? They break things down into chapters.*
So...that's what I'm going to try. I already downloaded MS One Note for creating some story novels for Dill and another book I'm considering. I thought, "Why not do the same with your problems? Make each problem a separate chapter and tackle them. Here's the problem, here are possible solutions."
So far, I have listed:
-Anger (I'm realizing that I have more anger management issues that I've ever been willing to admit. I also realized today that my angry outbursts tend to precede my bouts with depression)
-Depression (obvious)
-Out of Shape (because I'm tired of "round" being my shape)
-Lonely (I'm tired of spending every night sitting in front of a computer)
-No Career Plan (going to see a career counselor)
-Living With Parents (That one...might be tricky, since without a job, I can't afford to move out. But it's still an issue)
So yeah, that's what I have so far. It's still a work in progress. Not sure what I'm going to do with it. I have another meeting with the committee tomorrow, both about my release and about plans to help me.
*Well, Terry Pratchett doesn't. I've been reading him and about him a lot lately and he didn't like doing chapters. But I do. So take that, Sir Pratchett.**
**This footnote was done in honour of him because I just finished reading Mort, which was my second of his books that I've read. And Pratchett seemed to like doing footnotes.***
