The EPIC WIN Thread 3: SON OF EPIC

I'd hazard to guess the one on the right with the leg indentations is the old one. It looks very similar to a chair I got and broke within 3 months many years ago.
And a broken wheel, but it put up a pretty good fight and lasted a long while, for a chair I found on the street.

So for $0, I'd say it did a good job. The new one was... a tad more.[DOUBLEPOST=1450303333,1450303268][/DOUBLEPOST]The new one also has a base part and baseplate made entirely out of steel. Which is awesome and sturdy... and made it FREAKING HEAVY to not only carry up the steps, but assemble.

You'll appreciate that when you can park your feet up on the bends.

I've got a nice chair that was "broken" according to the people at my office. Took me about 5 minutes to fix it.

Adding unrelated items to budgets is such a bullshit political move. If someone voted against the budget then they'd be labeled as anti-science. Despicable. However, hopefully science funding is the greater good here.

And the CISA that was tacked on to the budget bill was one that had all the safety stops removed. Basically, every internet/backbone company is now de facto surveilling every single user and turning the unscrubbed info directly over to the NSA. So, like Drifter, I find it hard to be happy about the bone being thrown the NIH when it was just yet another doorknob polished on the titanic that is our federal government.

My glee comes from a history of lackluster funding for science in U.S. especially when compared to our European friends. It's a step in the right direction. I'm a fiscal conservative, and I hate a bloated power-grabbing government, but money for science/education is a good thing.

I find it hard to appreciate the big glass of water handed to me right now when I know the bill authorizing me getting that water also authorized them to raise the temperature an additional 5 degrees for an indefinite period of time.

Pharma Bro Martin Shrekli arrested by federal agents, facing multiple investigations.

Prosecutors in Brooklyn charged him with illegally taking stock from Retrophin Inc., a biotechnology firm he started in 2011, and using it to pay off debts from unrelated business dealings. He was later ousted from the company, where he’d been chief executive officer, and sued by its board.
In the case that closely tracks that suit, federal prosecutors accused Shkreli of engaging in a complicated shell game after his defunct hedge fund, MSMB Capital Management, lost millions. He is alleged to have made secret payoffs and set up sham consulting arrangements. A New York lawyer, Evan Greebel, was also arrested early Thursday. He's accused of conspiring with Shkreli in part of the scheme.

I've been married to my best friend for 27 years as of today. We got married as young, clueless kids, and have pretty much grown out of both of those, most days. So, here's a picture of us from 27 years ago...

Does your wife know

So at some point in those 27 years, you turned into a pug?

Oh my gosh, this pulls at my little heart strings. Makes me smile like a moron.

How the frig old were you two? 12?

Congratulations to you both. May you have at least 27 more filled with love, laughter, and pugs

It was a painful transformation at times, especially the curly tail.

19, both of us. I went into the US Air Force less than a month later, my first official day of basic training was Friday, January 13.[DOUBLEPOST=1450408144,1450408091][/DOUBLEPOST]

Slightly open mouth and drooling a little? ;) I understood what you meant.

I got to sleep until 8am. My kids and I are still in our pjs and it's 11am. I have dinner in the crockpot, half of which is going to my friend whose husband just started chemotherapy. I'm also baking chocolate chip cookies, listening to Christmas music, lit the tree, and have a nice cool cuppa joe. My daughter is pretending she's a mage and using a broom as her staff (she just started sweeping!). It's cloudy, but lots of trade winds. A good, good day so far.

Oh man, I am getting in such good shape these days. I'm still around 210 lbs. It's wavered up a bit recently (only to about 213), but I think that was from muscle growth. I hope, anyway.

I've not only been able to do a lot of yoga in the morning (usually the DDP Yoga Wake Up (10 min), Energy or Fat Burner (20-25 min), AND Red Hot Core (10 min)), but also running on the treadmill in the evening. Last night, I ran 2 miles in 20 minutes, then followed it up with Below the Belt (35 minutes) and Red Hot Core.

As far as the treadmill goes, my best so far has been running 3.4 miles in 35 minutes. I actually managed to do 3 miles in 28 minutes. Getting to a mile in 9 minutes is almost a cakewalk now.

And as I've shown in some recent new pictures, I can fit into clothes I haven't been able to fit into in years. Like my cycling jacket, which I couldn't even zip up the last time I tried it on.

I'll have what he's having. Well done, sir.
