[Movies] MCU: Phase 3 And Beyond

I still remember a comic from when I was really young during Wolverine's Japan adventures where he got riddled with bullets. The next morning he's lying in bed bandaged up and he lights up his cigar and the smoke is coming out of the bandages. His regeneration has DEFINITELY been bumped up. Hulk used to be the top end regenerator.
Hulk is generally portrayed as mostly invulnerable at this point, at least in the movies. He's never been injured in a way that would make it seem like he could ACTUALLY lose a fight.

Plus making him mad just makes him more powerful, so at this point you're just making it worse for yourself.

Although that's Banner-Hulk, I have no idea how the new Cho-Hulk works.

It's still being dished out about what happened in the monthly, Cho seems to be mostly in control, but hints that that control is not all there.

I always thought the easiest way to kill Wolverine should be to just chuck him in the ocean. He should still be able to drown, right? And the dude's skeleton is made out of superdense metal, he's gonna sink like a stone.

Yes, Namor described him thusly: "A worse swimmer you have never seen." Wolverine agreed: "Namor's right, I can't swim for shit."

I actually read a theory on someone's blog somewhere that Wolverine's skeleton is so dense and heavy (like a few hundred pounds) that just moving causes enormous muscle strain, but his regenerating factor heals the damage as soon as it's done, so aside from some pain, it doesn't matter much. That would explain why in The Wolverine movie, when he starts losing his healing factor, he slows down a lot.

Also explains why Wolverine is so jacked. Basically every movement he makes is the equivalent of a workout.

A jacked man, if you will.

I guess the idea is his regeneration has gotten more and more powerful as he's gotten older, so things that could have easily killed him for good centuries ago are nothing now.
Eh... i actually meant IRL publishing centuries... as in the 21th century vs the 20th century.

I liked how in Avengers:EMH Wonderman's entire origin story was triggered by Tony Stark's complete inability to work with/communicate with/pay attention to/have the slightest consideration for other people, or perhaps even function as an adult. He could not stop tinkering disinterestedly with the gadget in his hands for five seconds to say "but I am not going to close down your company!" Thus, boom. New villain!

I watched the whole 15 minute Airport Fight from Civil War (Because I have no self-control)

We are in for a treat if the dramatic parts of the movie are anywhere close to the action parts of the movie.

I think I might need to get off work early next Friday. I won't have a chance to see it otherwise until it comes out on video. :aaah:

Just got back from Civil War.

Guys, it's good. It's very good. I'd say it's approximately as good as Winter Soldier, with a similar feel to it. It's respectful to the source material while forging its own path. It both fulfills expectations and subverts them.

Go watch Civil War.

More thoughts in the spoilers thread.

I have to be honest, I didn't really care for Agent Carter much. Maybe it got better in the second season but I felt like s1 was such a slow burn I got bored waiting for something to happen.

Even though it seems like they're in terrible hands lately, I still love a lot of the DCU. But if these recent movies were my first introduction to them? Probably not.

As much as I thought the climax of S2 was horrible, I am still sad to see it not get picked up for a new season. The characters had a lot of charm.

DC's characters aren't the problem; it's the garbage in charge of them in the movies right now. But we still have the TV shows.

Meanwhile, Marvel's nailing it in cinemas and on TV. Apparently the only place they can't get their shit together is the comic books :p.
