Games on SALE!

I own Symphonia on both GameCube (which I can still use on my Wii) and for PS3, I don't feel the need to get the crappy PC port. :)
Yeah I don't have my GCN copy anymore, but I have the remaster on PS3 so I've avoided the Steam port.

In other RPG news, Stardew Valley is on sale if someone doesn't own that yet, as well as some of the Final Fantasy titles at 50% or more off.

If we ever stop playing Overwatch for even a moment.

Oh wait, I keep forgetting you don't have normal schedule constraints >_<
So you're saying that @Terrik and I should mess around on the PTR so you can do something else tonight? ;)[DOUBLEPOST=1466703065,1466702951][/DOUBLEPOST]
I have a daughter that's been begging for Undertale forever. Assuming I can log in tonight, how much is it right now?
$6.99

I have to wonder what the benefit is for Steam with those trading cards. I guess people sell them and Steam gets a tiny percentage of each of those sales. Is that enough to warrant it, though?
It's a game, and progress depends on purchases. They are selling to gamers, ergo they can increase purchases by making a game out of buying games.

If you find out how many cards you need on average to gain a feature/prize/discount then you'll know how many games they want the average consumer to buy, and the actual average will be 1-2 games per person below that. It's like the humble bundle - offer a little more just above the average price, and the average goes up.

I'm betting the money they make isn't insignificant. Having sold a lot of trading cards, and paid attention while I did, just some rough numbers. Say a popular game that has 7 cards (roughly average). Each of those cards may see 50+ sales each day. Each sale is $0.02 cents for Steam. Sure, that's only $7, but there are hundreds of games whose cards trade at least that much, and even uncommon game will still see card sales. "Tiny and Big: Grandpa's Leftovers" (a relatively unknown indie title that I didn't like, but left running to get the trading cards) cards all have 20+ sold in the last 24 hours.

If Steam wasn't getting hammered, I'd search to find out just how many games have trading cards. Roughly a quarter of the games in my collection have trading cards. Let's assume that 20% of all Steam games do. That would mean about 1,400 games with trading cards. If I lowball the numbers and say 5 cards per game (most games have more, 5 is the minimum), and 20 sales of each per day, that means each game brings in a $2+ per day on cards. $2,800 a day isn't exactly chump change.

That's in addition to getting people personally invested in the platform. Crafting badges from cards raises your Steam level, which doesn't do anything, but neither do platinum trophies or gamerscore points, but people love to show off. The more people who are fanatical about a platform, generally the better it does. I think it's easy to assume that gamers are gamers and they'll always play games, but I'm not sure that's true. People go through ebbs and flows in their interests, and gaming sometimes takes a backseat.

Trading cards get people:
- Playing new games
- Playing long enough to get a feel for the game
- Involved in the Steam platform as more than just buyers

Also, I may not understand why people want to buy cards and craft badges, but I don't mind taking advantage of it. I've made a fair amount of money selling my earned trading cards, and bought quite a few games with the proceeds.

I need a time machine for my paycheck. These Steam sales are always a week or so before I get paid.

The game's a really fun beat 'em up and if you're a Transformers weeb like me, the 90% original voice cast and art style will be icing on the cake.

"Don't hit my head, my empty hollow head, I just don't think you understand, cause if you hit my head, my empty hollow head, I might grow up and start a band!"

Picking up these today:

Adventures of Pip
FF Type-0
Bard's Tale

I'm really tempted to snag Dynasty Warriors because it's like 60% off, but I'd rather wait and see if the Dragon Quest one goes on sale first.

Granted, Steam's running like garbage right now so I might have to wait until later.
Man. I still have the DVD, unopened. Kati and I are supposed to team play it someday.

The game is hilarious. Cary Elwes voices the Bard and he totally channels Robin Hood: Men in Tights. It's a pretty standard ARPG otherwise, but the writing and voice acting are top-tier.
Yep. That's why I bought it. I'm a big fan of the original series, so having it deconstructed looked like fun.
This is also the reason why Kati and I may double-team the new King's Quest at some point, since she was a huuuuge fan of that series.

Does anyone have WWE 2K16 on Steam? It's $15 right now, and was curious how it was.

I really enjoy it. It can sometimes be a little clunky in the way that wrestling games usually are, but I've had a ton of fun with it. The create-a-wrestler is really in-depth, too.

Looks just like me. Even the body, yeah... totally... :ninja:

GTA5 is at 40% off, I'm tempted there.

I'm also interested in Stardew Valley and the newer Assassin's Creed games.

Will wait for a GOTY edition of Fallout 4 and Doom before I go for them though.

Oooh, wait, Cities Skylines has a decent discount too. Might go for that.

See, my only problem with the Create-a-Wrestler in recent WWE games is you can no longer upload and use your own music for entrance themes. I fucking LOVED that option on some of the PS3 versions I played (I think '11, '12, and '13). But ever since Next Gen, they don't have that option anymore. So it holds less interest for me. Which sucks because creating CAWs is my favourite thing to do in a wrestling game. :(

Create-a-Wrestler is the best. It immediately gets you invested in it, and the goofy ass story lines are more entertaining if they effect your character. That was one of my favorite things about WWE Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain.

You can get around that in the PC version by replacing and altering certain files. The same goes for jumbotron projections.

Funniest moment I had was in I think WWE '12. I was building up one guy - Toro - to be my world champ. He was slowly working his way up the ladder in the league mode.

At the same time, I had a tag team: The Damage Brothers. Mean Mike Damage and Bad Billy Damage. They, too, worked their way up the ladder.

I believe I had a singles mid-carder guy who was aiming for the IC title, too. But I can't remember his name.

Anyway, for one PPV, Bad Billy Damage was booked into a Money in the Bank match along with my mid-card guy. I controlled my mid-card guy because I wanted him to win, of course. Except the AI was tough that match and by sheer luck, Billy Damage won it.

Then came the main event for the world title, with Toro taking it all. Right before the match, though, it asked if I wanted Billy Damage to cash in the MitB. I didn't realize it until AFTER the match that that meant he'd challenge the winner at the end. And I controlled Billy Damage.

So out of nowhere, Billy Damage became world champion without my planning. I renamed him into something more badass and world-title level: Will Damage, and actually ran with it. In the tag team, he was like the British Bulldog. When I reworked him as a singles guy, I gave him more a Brock Lesnar move set and gave him a new look that looked more of a main-eventer.[DOUBLEPOST=1466738614,1466738511][/DOUBLEPOST]

Re-he-he-he-heeeeeeally?

Is there a lot of work involved in that work around?

This has all the instructions, and you can probably find youtube videos that break it down even more. Basically, you replace some of the entrance themes already in the game with the music you want. This means you are limited to just how many you can add, and if you choose to replace an existing wrestler's theme, they'll have that music whenever they make an entrance. The good news is there are a lot of themes that aren't used for other wrestlers that you can replace.

Hurm. While I'm glad it gives me the option to put in my own music, it's at the expense of others. Which means if I wanted to sacrifice Zack Ryder's music and then feel the need to have Toro beat the crap out of him, he'd come out to Toro's badass music.

And I just can't have that.

If you like old school Harvest Moon, Stardew was worth it for me, even at full price. It's got like hypnotic, Civ levels of "oh just one more day...and now it's 4:47am..."

Bought the base game for Witcher 3. Excited to finally play the game.
I suggest getting the Season Pass while it's on sale, too.

Trust me, when you're done the game, you'll thank me for suggesting it.[DOUBLEPOST=1466779763,1466779695][/DOUBLEPOST]

This is very true. When I installed it and loaded it up, I said, "Okay, let's see what all the Overwhelmingly Positive fuss is about."

....and then I realized six hours had passed.
