Games on SALE!

Can someone give me a quick rundown of whether these 3DS games are good? I've pretty much only used my 3DS for Pokemon, so I don't know much about other games.

I can't tell you what's good from all of them, but I can tell you what kind of game they are and then you can go by whether you like stuff from that kind of game.

Retro City Rampage DX is available on other platforms; it's essentially a Grand Theft Auto game with strange scenarios. I didn't care for it, but I rarely do with those kinds of games anymore.
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is a Metroidvania style 2D game. Controls are fluid and exploring is fun, though sometimes it isn't clear what you're supposed to do next after beating a dungeon.
Street Fighter IV is Street Fighter. If you've ever played one, you know what to expect.
Rhythm Thief is a rhythm game; there's a demo on the eshop if you want to try before you buy. It's okay.
Citizens of Earth is a weird RPG inspired by Earthbound. I haven't played this one.

Right now I'm hedging my bets to see what else gets added, although even if I bought the bundle for $10 just for Freedom Planet, that's still less than the game is by itself on the Wii U eshop.

For those who don't keep too close an eye on such things, there's a huge big bundles sale going on over at GOG. Some are "build your own bundle" things, some regular, but either way. Some great games at 80% and 90% off in there.

I'd pick it up if Freedom Planet were on 3DS. Otherwise I have Shantate on Steam and I'm not terribly interested in the rest of the games.
This is probably why I'm ultimately not getting the bundle. Though I want to play Freedom Planet and I own a Wii U, if I'm honest with myself I know that when I'm home I'm going to play something else.

Enter the Gungeon is on sale at Steam, 10% off. You can also buy a Steam key here at 20% off, like I did. The Steam sale lasts until the end of the weekend, unsure on the length of the other one (maybe today only?).

Vermintide is like Left 4 Dead but in Warhammer, with the difficulty turned up to a non-trivial degree.

If anybody wants to play Vermintide this weekend (with someone who's not half bad at it), find me on steam.

For more details, here's my Vermintide - Halforums Edition video playlist.

Hah, it'll be hilarious if the only people who show up to play Vermintide this weekend are the same schmucks who already own it/star in the V:HF videos :p

Today GOG.com announced GOG Connect, which is a program by which you can connect your Steam account to your GOG account, and unlock certain eligible games in your GOG library. Best I can tell this is a visibility grab by GOG, designed to get people to visit their site more often. There's only a limited number of eligible games, and they're only available to be claimed for a limited amount of time (once they're in your GOG library, it's for good though). New games will be added, but with the same limited availability, so you'll have to check back in to claim those.

The servers involved are completely overloaded, so while I was able to link my Steam account, it hasn't actually connected any games for me. Assuming I'll be able to get the soundtracks attached to the GOG releases, this makes me very happy.

The list of eligible games includes:
- Braid
- Bit-Trip Runner
- Breach & Clear
- Breach & Clear: Deadline
- Broken Sword Director's Cut
- Mount & Blade
- Sherlock Holmes: Secret of the Silver Earring
- To the Moon
- Two Worlds
- VVVVVV
- Xenonauts
- Van Helsing: Final Cut
- Project Zomboid
- Unreal Gold
- Unreal Tournament
- The Witness
- FTL: Faster Than Light
- The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut
- Galactic Civilizations 3
- Trine Enchanted Edition
- Saints Row 2
- Shadowrun Returns
- The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

The caveats:
- You can only link one GOG.com account to one Steam account, and the process is permanent.
- Limited time window to claim games (All the titles are have 5 days left at the time I'm writing this)

I think it's a good idea; might convince people to "consolidate" on GOG...If they can expand the library enough. I'd love to get all my Star Wars games together one platform, preferably GOG - right now they're on both, some twice, and all that jazz.

Wake me when you can do it the other way around, and import GoG games into steam.

I like GoG, but I already have all my stuff on steam, I don't want to have to use a second launcher.

There's no launcher for GOG. You can use Galaxy, but it's not necessary. Also, the GOG versions are DRM-free and playable off line, even of games whose Steam-version does have DRM.

The GOG Summer Sale has begun. System Shock 2's free for now (through Galaxy). Otherwise, well, I'm shouting to the wind I guess, but lots and lots of great games at serious discounts. Including the Witcher 3 and its expansions at -50%, worth picking up for anyone who likes RPGs.

If anyone is following GOG Connect (the method to get games from your Steam account added to your GOG library), the initial 30+ games have past their window, and in their place are just three: Defenders Quest, Door Kickers and Kona. Presumably in another 4 -5 days there will be another small set.

Huh. Defenders Quest and Defenders Quest: Valley of the Forgotten are not the same? Odd. One's just the other with a bit of a make-over

On GOG, Startopia is on sale for a buck and a half. I heartily recommend it for any "tycoon" game type fans out there. The premise is you are building/restoring a space station, and you have to build various facilities, hire and manage various aliens to staff them, and conduct trade with passing merchant ships so that you can buy low and sell high. It has competitive multiplayer (though I don't know how that will work given its age).

It's also got lots of dry humor in the vein of Hitchhiker's Guide.

I'm kind of waffling over the Humble Bundle E3 2016 Digital Ticket

On one hand, $1 would get me $5 worth of Amazon coins, which I could use to buy a couple Hearthstone packs, but on the other hand very little else in the pack interests me, especially since I've already purchased Psychonauts from multiple services.

What might get me to toss my dollar in would be if any Halforumites want to play in the SuperFight closed beta. It might make a fun game night.

I'd do it for the Furiona Bellona and Typhoon Kukulkan skins for SMITE if I didn't already own both. Combined, that is like 800 gems normally or 15 bucks, so 4 bucks for that is a steal.
